Crikey it's busy in here today. Maureen! Cliff: totally agree with what you say, 4 out of 5 aint bad, but any more departures would kill it. Herbie: You're dead right, this site is indeed 'botty Venting'! Probably. Cmos: "creation is a gift that keeps on giving"… god that's so beautiful, I'm filling up! Dave: Hi! And as someone further down said: "undertones kicks blubberbluss !" which I think sums it all up quite nicely. cheers. paul.

Just returned exhausted from Derry!well what do you want me to say? You Know they were awesome! Paul Macloone was more confident than in November,he's made himself at home and so he should.met John O'neill, lovely normal bloke. I'll write more later after a rest(well I'm middle-aged now you know!).

Billy Doherty (drummer The Undertones) on 05:01 8th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-110
Cliff, many thanks for your review (you,re very good) - Iam delighted that you enjoyed the show and had a good time in Derry. You should have come over to me and say hello. I don't know what you look like (next time wear a pink carnation on your left appell) At least you met John. Hope to see you at The Mean Fiddler on Friday. It's been almost 18 years since we last played there. So brush of the cobwebs , put on your best pogo boots and lets party. What about Paul ? He's something else.paul has the biggest job after all he will be compared to Feargal - which is a difficult task to fulfill. Many thanks, Billy.

to billy doherty and all the band, thank you thank you thank you.i can now go to the gig i have been waiting 21 years to see. i'll be there friday! I have recently landed the job of a dj on my local radio station (twc Fm) near melton mowbray. i have been presenting an 80's show twice a week which consists mostly of early 80's stuff , i've managed to sneak at least one undertones record in each show (whether it's from the 80's or not!) i'm very pleased to be able to say that the second record i ever played on radio was "you've got my number", my personal favourite. it is also gratifying to get many phone ins from "joe public" saying that they'd never heard of the band before but realy enjoy the tracks i've played. it just goes to show that if you write a superbly crafted 2 and a half minute song, it doesn't age and i feel that the music is as relevant now as it was then!

A message to all-i am making a backdrop for the band (10 ft x 3 ft) for Friday and any future gigs,it'll be the arrow logo.if anybody would like to contribute towards this let me know so it could be from the website to the band.lets not let friday pass by without meeting each other in typical English fashion,i would imagine anybody wearing a t-shirt will be somebody from the net.doors open at 7 pm so why not all go inside for a drink rather than surrounding pubs? As for me,i look a bit like Michael Douglas(in his younger days of course, well thats what I've been told-give me a break!)i'll be wearing a baggy 'tones shirt in an attempt to hide the belly!.come on ,we've waited a long time for this-lets make it happen! -ps,thanks for your message Billy,it was all a pleasure.

The Undertones, for me were and still are the best band in the world bar none! I was only 12 when Teenage Kicks came out, but I was in the next couple of years to be come an-incureble Undetones fanatic. Sadly as I was but a wee lad growing up in a small Welsh coastal town, The Undertones sadly visited Cardiff only three times, I witnessed them on 18th May 1980 at the Top Rank Suite - the first ever gig I had seen - they were magnificent - my ears rang for a fortnight - but boy it worth it. I saw them twice after this once at The National Club in Kilburn, London 16th August 1982 and finally at the tearful last gig at Selhurst Park on 9th July 1983, I am sure there was not a drt eye in the mosh pit. it is still painful experience to listen to a recording of this gig. but alas! they will be back and I shall get in my tardis and it will take me back and leave me at The Mean Fidler on Friday night. and I can't wait.

One of the embroidered shirt designs can now be seen on the 'undershirts' page, the other will follow shortly.these look classy if i do say so myself,so if your the more consertative type, this might suit you more than the printed ones.i'm just going to warn the Post Office of the impending rush.

Herbie on 05:01 8th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-115
And another thing: when can we have a proper set of rereleases with all those little details, like proper versions of 'summer', the little bit between 'his Good Looking Girlfriend' and 'the Positive Touch', the version of 'bye Bye Baby Blue' from the 12 inch of 'got To Have You Back' and I'm sure there are more, that we anorak 'tones fans look out for. Grrrr. And why did the website translate ' botty Vent ing' into 'botty Venting'?

Donald @ on 05:01 8th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-116
enjoying reading the messages to pass the time as the clock ticks til Saturday. the fact Billy Doherty puts (drummer The Undertones) after his name reminds me why I love this band so much. I'm impressed Cliff looks like Michael Douglas, us Undertones fans must just get better looking with age. Cant make Friday but I'll be wearing a pink carnation and a big smile on my face Saturday. Where can I get hold of the Nerve centre video? & 4 out of 5 definitely aint bad .

Cliff @ on 05:01 8th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-117
Blimey Herbie, theres no pleasing some people!the Undertones are a live band, back after 17 years, can't you just enjoy it? And any chance of a little less 'botty venting'?!

The Nerve Centre video is not a video! It was material shot for a forthcoming doc on The Undertones which should be transmitted on Bbc Ni in April 2001, presented by a Mr John Peel. It is also hoped that the doc will make it to film, ie a cinematic release. I'll be filming at The Fiddler and Fleadh for this doc also so make sure your hair is nice and neat, ties straight, etc Jimmy Jimmy
