Ecletic as only my tastes are - varying from L. Cohen to the Toy Dolls - there's one act standing above all acts - The 'tones ! The best band that ever was - particullary the first 2 albums were the most delicious (mars Bars ?) albums of all r'n'r history.

Cliff on ? GMT #87d-181
Dave,if you don't know what they had to eat that day then I suggest we find somebody else to be the 'tones statistician coz you're obviously not up to the job! I can tell you quite confidently that I was free that Saturday coz it was the F.a.cup 4th round and Albion had been knocked out!

Phil Deere @ on ? GMT #87d-182
One can only speculate it was `mars Bar' all round eaten on 19th January 1980.

Can anybody remember any other t-shirts apart from these memories;(1)my first ever 'tones gig at the Hammersmith Palais I saw an excellent'you got my number'shirt.(2)black with red arrows (3)(4)hypnotised,2 versions with lobster and (so I've been recently reminded)humming, leaping, minging on the back.biege with brown collar/cuffs and grey with black collar/cuffs.(was this the one worn by 'leeds lass'?).(5)subbuteo player, was this for hypnotised or perfect cousin?(6)(7)positive touch with all the symbols in grey and a pink version I seem to remember.(8)(9)'see no more'tour 1980.a train dissapearing into tunnel and plane into the clouds, and finally(10)sin of pride as cover of album on white shirt(a bloke at the Fiddler was wearing this. can anybody remind me of any others?and does anybody other than City Rocker and Lindsay have any originals?

Phil Deere @ on ? GMT #87d-184
There was one for The Kilburm National Club in 1982 which was navy, with The You've got my number band go and Kilburn National 16.8.82 in an odd font don't / can't remeber I grew out of mine (dicovering beer in about 1984)so it hasn't made it. I did have the beige / brown (ahem) colar & cuffs shirt with the lobster on the front and 15 Rockin' Humdingers on the back. I seem to remember there was also a grey w/ black trim version of this. this wore very thin and bit the dust about fifteen years ago.

Delectable as the beige/brown one sounds, mine's a white version of (5) born at Bradford St. George's Hall on 30.4.80 (my second gig). It survived being squashed up against the stage (unfortunately my ribs didn't). Re. the future, the odd gig now and then would be okay by me. Ps. Maybe I was the only one, but I laughed at your joke Donald!

I did have most of the T-shirts which have been mentioned so far. Unfortunately they lasted only slightly longer than my marriage! The brown Hypnotised T-shirt was in hindsight a truly unique (horrible) colour. However, I still have all of my badges, including The Rocking Humdingers fan club badge. I did take them to London to wear at the Fleadh but after the crushed ribs at the Mean Fiddler the night before I decided it best not to wear them in case they were damaged, plus I did not want to damage my newly purchased T-shirt from Cliff.

I have 2 T shirts that have survived although sadly they dont fit any more but they might look good as a cut off top with hipsters:- Grey Hypnotised with red lobster logo with red hypnotised on back (autographed as all hypnotised shirts should be but I wasnt brave enough to wear it last weekend). Blue Sin of Pride with yellow (positive touch type symbols) on front with Sin of Pride tour at bottom (plain on back). Lost through time- a white one with Subbuteo player on front with Humming Leaping Minging on back and the Black one with red arrows. Cant remember any others. Have a few posters that have survived :- 1)very Large pic of band from positive touch times with cream The Undertones and blue 'positive Touch' at top. 2) Pic of band as at the official (but not as good) website with Writing -15 Rocking Humdingers , The Undertones, Hypnotised with-small pic of hypnotised cover with including my perfect cousin and wednesday week written beside it 3 Early pic of band Feargal checked shirt/john harrington jacket, Mickey nice red jumper at front (youve got my number/get over you times - post parka pre smart clothes with no writing at all. Back At The Old House (my Mums) there is a bag of old newspaper clippings with a few interviews - (one with pics inside Feargal or the O Neills mums house I think) and several live reviews -'perfect Pop' and a 5 star review of Hypnotised are the ones I remember. If they are still there and you are interested I could send them on to someone at the website to be scanned in by someone who can do that sort of thing. Let me know and I can do one of my twice yearly visits to Inverness. Ps Lindsay - a female Undertones fan who laughs at my jokes is too good to be true. If its not true please come clean and tell me if you are really a 30 stone bearded man who likes to be known as Lindsay! Godnight and thank you.

Any ideas on how to get 'name'@theundertones.net as an e-mail address instead of the usual @freeserve etc. I used to have a large cardboard cut out of the Undertones and the saint figure from the Sin of Pride Lp cover. Can't remember which concert I 'borrowed' it from nor how I managed to get it back home.

Cliff @ on ? GMT #87d-189
Blimey, that t-shirt bit got a few responses! Donald and Lindsay could be our first 'tones wedding! I don't suppose she likes football? no,that would be asking too much!regarding the 'national' shirt in navy,i seem to remember the unusual font was the logo of the venue.why not all send in pics of these old cotton masterpieces and maybe we could persuade Cmos to put up a page on them, along with Georges badges which can be added to the existing badge page (under 'miscellaneous' if you havent seen it).

I still have in my posession one of the infamous 'beige and brown' Hypnotised t-shirts. I can't remember ever wearing it but then I recently came across a photo of me in the offending garment aged about 17. God, the 80's were embarrassing:-))

George @ on ? GMT #87d-191
I have just rediscovered my See No More tour T-shirt from 1980. It has a picture of a black plane flying into cloud on the front and see no more tour on the back (as per badge on miscellaneous page). It is autographed by 3 of the Undertones (not Damian or Feargal) and all of Orange Juice. As for still fitting! Quart and Pint Pot spring to mind. I wish I had spent more time before the Fleadh trying to find my memorabilia. If Cmos wants to see the badges - No problem. I have 6 of the 9 shown on the miscellaneous page and 19 others. (also 2 moondogs badges)

Cliff on ? GMT #87d-192
Anybody else remember the reception Orange Juice got at the Palais? They really had a hard time,i wasn't that keen but I still felt sorry for them.and talking of a hard time, remember Dolly Mixture the girl band? They just had continual and predictable shouts of "get 'em off" shame coz I thought they were pretty good (oh,and cute!)

Adrian on ? GMT #87d-193
Just a thought on this Irish centre business.i was under the impression that the Irish centre was simply a (good)live venue.i don't think you have to show your Irish passport on the way in!are you forgetting the gig at the National in the County Kilburn?anyway, who cares where the boys play,as long as they play! p.s.did I mention the Witness Festival is in Meath not Dublin, sorry to go on but there are 32 counties in Ireland not just the one.moan over.

Cliff, you will be impressed to know that I do like football and have to confess to being a Wimbledon supporter (i saw Vinnie's first sending off and went to the Cup Final). Now who was it we beat in the third round of the Cup that year?.oh yes, Albion wasn't it ! I have lots of old articles on the 'tones, including a 5-star review of the first Lp in Sounds, reviews of the concerts and various interviews and a centre-spread in Jackie magazine! The article showing Feargal and the O'neill's houses was in Nme in April '80 I think. On the subject of badges, I wore the one with the legs on at the Fleadh and have a couple of the others on the miscellaneous page but I also have a colour one of them sat on the wall like the first Lp. I can't even remember buying any of them. My favourite possession is a series of autographs acquired outside the Royal Court in Liverpool in '83. They each have my name on (spelt five different ways mind). Damian and Mickey pretended to run away from me and my friend - I'm sure we didn't look that frightening! We then chatted to them about doing demos and working with producers (something we pretended we knew all about!) and the relative merits of the Royal Court over the Empire (where we saw them in '81). One of my mates at Uni was a roadie that night and spent an hour talking to Feargal in the hotel afterwards. Feargal gave him a poster (which my friend has) and a promo copy of Got To Have You Back (which I have). Re. the 'wedding' Cliff - only if the 'tones played at the reception and a certain band member was the groom (although I'm not sure my long-suffering family would agree to this!). Hi to my two sons, Jamie and Simon, who want to say that they too like Mars Bars (the musical as well as the edible variety). Ps. My pictures of the Fleadh turned out surprisingly well.
