Musings
Just seen 2 colour photo's of Paul Macloone on the ebay auction site, they originate from Bristol the same place as the City Rocker.........spooky! Mark on ? GMT #87d-271 Lyndsay, video arrived safe and sound. Many thanks. Mark. Dave Richings @ on ? GMT #87d-272 Yeah, it's strange what City Rocker was saying about messages in the run-out grooves. On my copy of 'Live at St Joseph's Secondary School, 1976', which was only released in Southend, it reads, "The Undertones will play at the Mean Fiddler in the year 2000". Obviously I didn't want to say anything before and spoil it for everyone... Cliff on ? GMT #87d-273 HELLO !! is that right Dave, only released in my hometown of Southend ?? how come I never got a copy but you did ? Were there any secret messages saying "Cliff's banner will be hanging behind the band at the Fiddler 2000" ??- This is pretty heavy stuff,we better call in Mulder and Scully ! Cliff on ? GMT #87d-274 WOW, you will not believe what's just happened here.I picked up my copy of "The Undertones Live 2000" compilation CD (only one ever released, sorry) and while I was walking with it past the stain glass window, the sun caught it and the whole thing glowed a kind of redish colour,Then I looked on the wall and across it was displayed " Cliff will be invited on stage to sing ' When Saturday Comes' at Meath !" and then in an instant it was gone.I'm going for a lie down to take it all in. Wendy on ? GMT #87d-275 Hi Lindsay, and thanks for the video, which was fab! The boys look and sound just as good as ever, though I see what you mean about my(ex)favourite member!I've still got all my Undertones stuff, including the set of "See No More" badges, which you referred to in an earlier message. I don't think we bought them, I think Nick's brother "aquired" them for us. George on ? GMT #87d-276 I had the same vision as Cliff about singing him 'When Saturday Comes' at the Meath. I'm sorry to disappoint you Cliff but your invite is for the day after the Undertones gig. However you do get to share the stage at both the Christmas and New Year reunion concerts. Hope Billy is still reading these pages! Lindsay on ? GMT #87d-277 I'm sure you know all the words Cliff but can you actually sing? I do hope you're better than your namesake 'Sir' for all our sakes. Personally, I think two female backing singers would be less likely to immediately empty the auditoriums and I know just the ideal candidates....! (Welcome to the site, Wendy - a bit more girl power at last!) PS. The tape arrived okay, thanks Donald. Cliff on ? GMT #87d-278 Actually,I don't even know all the words ! and I definately can't sing.Maybe with City Rocker playing guitar and you and Wendy as the 'Saphires' we could become an Undertones tribute band, how about 'The Wondertones?!' Cliff on ? GMT #87d-279 By the way Lindsay, your reference to Girl power was the 2nd time you've mentioned something to do with the Spice Girls. You came on here with tales of football and drinking pints but now you're starting to waver ! ©® on ? GMT #87d-280 A tribute band, nice idea Cliff - how about "The Underpants"! And if the band is to comprise only contributers to this site, can I nominate Billy Doherty (Drummer, The Undertones) to become drummer The Underpants! Billy Doherty (Drummer The Undertones) on ? GMT #87d-281 Hello Folks, Just checking in. I know its been a while but I have busy getting back into work after my holidays in Dublin. When I was there I went to see Riverdance and it was tremendous. I stongly recommend it , it was fabulous. How much money is there for the job in the "Underpants". I was trying to read all the notes on the lets talk page but I can only access a few from some reason. Well, we start rehearsals tonight for Witness and continue up to Thursday 3rd August. We have no warmup show planned - which is a pity. So we better get it right on Staurday. For me the Witness show is very important . It's not that the shows in England weren't in fact there were brilliant thanks to all your support, it's just that this a sort of home match thingy if you know what I mean. Sorry about the football analogy bit I always consider playing in a band and the events that surround it very similar to football. The drummer is the defence/goalie, lead guitar center forward, rhythm midfield, bass guitar sweeper and the singer the striker. Please come up and say hello if you can make it to Witness. If anyone is travelling take care and have a safe journey. Billy. Cliff @ on ? GMT #87d-282 Thanks for that Billy,I'll be doing my own version of Riverdance on August 5th ! If you want to practise in Southend I'd lay on the sandwiches. As for your reference to football, thats one thing you never have to apologise for.I know the O'Neills support Chelsea how about the rest of you ? I'm West Brom,City Rocker is Bristol City (bless 'im),George is Sunderland and even Lindsay supports Wimbledon(which is sort of football). Some on the list don't like football, strange, but true ! ©® on ? GMT #87d-283 Hey Billy. How much money playing for the Underpants...? Well how much can you afford?! Ho Ho :-)) Anyway enjoy the gig, the football analogy was spot on, but do come back soon & play some more away games wontcha! Cliff on ? GMT #87d-284 A friend of mine who lives outside Dublin has just told me there was a half hour programme about the 'tones last night with video clips and interviews.
