Although this is an Undertones-site and I am a huge Undertonesfan myself(Hey, when do you come and play Holland??).But: it is great there is still some interest in The Moondogs. She's 19 was a classic single, full of energy and freshness. They released an album in Germany in 1981, this was produced by Todd Rundgren and although the album is very good and fine, the production is not so good: there were synthesizer- and brassbits added which the Moondogs-sound did not need. The Moondogs were a good guitargroup in their own and I am afraid that for the album-recording they tried to adjust the sound for the mainstream American market, maybe on of the three Moondogs can tell the story of the albumrecording in Ne York?? The single-version of Mary is lots better than the album-version. Maybe we should start a campaign from this website for a compilation-CD of the Moondogs including the lost album and the 4 singles and the TV-show songs. Is there a recordcomp-boss out there reading this???? Julius Hermans Julius Hermans on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-331 The Undertones once played a festival in Arnhem, Holland in 1983. I thought it was a midday-concert and arived early to found out I was the only person on the square!! It was a late-night festival, a few minutes later The Undertones-van drove up and I could speak to the lads all afternoon!! The Undertones were always very approachable at their concerts. This was one of my concertexperiences. Fine lads! I have been playing " the positve touch" a lot recently and I still like it very much! Cliff on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-332 I forgot to mention in my review about the t-shirts for sale at Witness. We were joking about the infamous beige with brown collar 'hypnotised' shirt which can be seen on the 'antiquities' page a few weeks back, well would you believe the same shirt was being used by another band!! Groovy !!! Dave @ on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-333 The official site has now been updated (thanks Colin). Amongst the updates, you'll find a Mean Fiddler & Fleadh review by yours truly, plus a competition to win one of five 'Singles Box Sets'. Get to it....! Dave on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-334 ....and perhaps it would help if I mention the web address.... www.theundertones.com ©® on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-335 Dave, excellent review, summed up the weekend perfectly. To be honest though I did expect a bit more info from you about the train - you know, locomotive type & class, chassis configuration, that type of stuff...:-) Donald on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-336 excellent review of weekend Dave.Sadly the official undertones site crashed after I had entered the competition. Apparently, it cant be fixed til after September 20th so theres no point in anyone else entering the competition. CMoS on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-337 Nice try Donald - even if that were true it'd still leave you 10 days as the comp closes on the 30th Cliff on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-338 Yeah,Donald thats a bit underhand isn't it ? this isn't gonna become like 'monte-carlo or bust' is it where we all try to sabotage each other!! No biting ,gouging or head butting(thats for our scottish friends)I think we should all have an equal chance so I'm gonna tell you the answers ; June 12th 1983 at Shepherds Bush (QPR F.C.)and headlining were The Thompson Twins. Dave on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-339 Donald, glad you enjoyed the review... Yeah, about the competition - apparently, anyone called Donald who's entered is auotmatically entered into a competition to win a Bucks Fizz tour jacket. Cliff on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-340 Donald you jammy s0d !! Is that the 1980 pink with royal blue embroidery version ? If so I'm gonna change my name to Donald before the deadline. Cliff on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-341 Some 'tones stuff on : htp://mod79.ctw.net/index.htm Pat @ on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-342 I see some mention of t-shirts on the site how can I go about getting one? Arthur Magee @ on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-343 Good Vibrations can be contacted on 028 90 582250. They still have available early vinyl releases but definately no Teenage Kicks. As a small independant shop they need support so get ordering! Dominic @ on 05:03 23rd-Jan-00 GMT #87d-344 I too have all four Moondogs singles - but no record deck to play them on!! I did have an old recording of the first Peel session with Schoolgirl crush/Who's gonna tell Mary etc. but have lost it. Brilliant music, anyone got a copy? I have a mate living in Derry who has a copy of the Moondogs album on Vinyl. Lindsay - are you the chap who also contributes to the Irish Rugby chat group? The Undertones - what can I say. The best group in the world ever. Glad to see so much interest from others - I thought I was the only one!
