Hi Dominic, yes we all thought we were the only fans left until we found this website. We should all say well done to CMoS who runs it,he dosent say a lot(unlike me)but does a great job.As for Lindsay being a chap,I've seen her on video and can confirm shes 100% female although she does drink pints and likes football(well,Wimbledon anyway!).

Don't knock the Wombles Cliff, they put up a pretty good display against our YOUTH team last saturday.

George on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-347
I would also like add my thanks and appreciation to CMoS for an excellent and continually expanding and updated website. I have to express my disappointment that Cliff did not manage to make a hot air balloon suitably designed as The Undertones arrow logo so City Rocker could fly it in Bristol this morning. I am sure when it comes to filling it with hot air we would not be short of volunteers.

Lindsay on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-348
Better hang on to all those old T-shirts - according to Ch.3 Teletext today (P324), Punk fashion is going to be all the rage this Autumn so we could all be trendsetters. Perhaps Cliff will make his fortune in the T-shirt business (just remember us when you make your first million). Let's hope the music follows the fashion and the Undertones get their first ever No.1! (Oh and for the record, I hate rugby, I'm not a chap and Bristol City are rubbish!)

Ill have to look out my tartan (what else) bondage trousers if there coming back in fashion, Theyll go nicely with the Bucks fizz tour jacket that Daves sending me. I could send a photo to cmos for these pages or maybe not.

stumbled on this site by mistake.....just ...my first proper gig....Undertones....blimey.21 years ago...and they were greeeeaaaaat.

Donald on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-351
Welome Alf to the wonderful world of Undertonesnet and lots of like minded obsessives. The downside is you'll soon be memorising catalogue numbers and reading the scratched messages just outside the vinyl messages! Wish I could say the Undertones were my 1st gig - a bit cooler than Mud in 1975 (look I was only 10) thats neat thats neat thats neat thats neat

Cliff on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-352
I can do even better than that Donald,my first ever gig was at the Cliffs Pavillion (no,I don't own it!)in 1975 to see the fabolous........Rubettes !!Sky blue berets and all!to be fair this did give me a taste for live music coz it was so loud and fast.

Lindsay on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-353
Did anyone else see 'I Love 1973' last night and the feature on 'Parkas' (I bet some of you lot had one of these amazing garments). I'd just remarked how they were a favourite of Feargal's when he and John appeared on the screen! The reason for the short clip was to illustrate that Parkas were still popular 6 years later (well, we all know the Undertones were never noted for being bang up-to-date on the fashion front!). I can definitely say my first gig, not counting having to see The Spinners once, was a much more credible experience than yours - The Skids at Sheffield Limit in March 79 - fantastic and not a Tiger's Foot in sight.

Cliff @ on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-354
It must have been 1974 because I caught the 'match of the day' after which was the '74 Cup final.I had a parka but mine was the not so common navy version,I insisted on this as it's West Brom's colours! I liked the Skids also,I have most of their singles,"Into the Valley" had a brilliant intro, one of my all time favourites along with "Pretty Vacant" (no,thats not a description of the Bristol City trophy cabinet)What were they like live ?

Cliff @ on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-355
By the way I have a copy of the Mean Fiddler advertising poster if anybody wants a copy, nothing special but worth having if you're nut's like us.If anybody wants one send an SAE,e-mail me personally for my address.

Cliff on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-356
Did anybody like "The Motels"? I have several singles and albums, the sexy Martha Davies was the singer."Days are OK" is brilliant amongst others.

George on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-357
According to my record card index I should have The Motels 'Days are OK' on picture disc. I definitely still have my Skids singles. Dancing to the Skids, particularly 'Into the Valley' was almost as energetic as an Undertones concert. My first ever concert was an arty punk band called Punishment Of Luxury at Newcastle University. This was the only night I have ever drank beer in my life, and is one of the reasons I am now teetotal. My second concert was The Boomtown Rats a few weeks later. 1973 was certainly a good year. I passed my 11-plus and Sunderland won the FA Cup. The following year was almost as good as Newcastle got stuffed. Fashion wise I was probably wearing tartan, thanks to the Bristol City Rollers, or whatever they were called.

Julius Hermans on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-358
My first concert:Theatre of Hate Great concert! 2nd concert: Rotterdam New Pop festival 1980: Bad Manners were the first band on and The Undertones 2nd! What a great concert, Feargal singing "top-less" without a t-shirt in front of a 500,000 crowd! (to be honest the 500,000 were split over 3 main stages..)but the Undertones-stage was very busy at the time of the concert! And a real fact: on the festival there played 40 bands or so and the main TV-news in Holland showed only one clip that night of that huge festival: yes, from our lads who this wonderful site is devoted to!

Julius Hermans on 05:03 24th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-359
Another memory from that Undertones concert at Rotterdam New Pop 1980: I still remember that the Dutch TV-news really showed the amazement of the Tones that they played in fromt of such a huge crowd.. There really was a nice shot of the Tones really staring off the stage in the huge, huge crowd. It was such a nice shot I still remember it. Another memory of that concert: the ground was actually moving, believe it or not! Bands like The Undertones gave so much energy to the crowd. Does anyone of the Tones still remember this gig??
