I seem to remember 'Eleven' doing a peel session, one of the tracks (I think was called) 'If I were you and you were me'. Quite good as I remember, I did have a small segment on tape. Sadly I don't know where. Although I remember a mate 10 years or so ago, producing a complete tape (together with Undertones Peels sessions) to my complete astonishment!! I do also somewhere possess tapes and singles of early 'That Petrol Emotion'. What I would like to know....does anyone possess footage from (with the exception of the videos & the Live in concert from Hitchin)of 'You've got my number', 'Wednesday Week?'.

So there I am last Saturday working in the kiosk. downtown Belfast, selling Cappucino's etc when I spy a familiar face walking past Ravelle (the shoe shop). It can't be, to the untrained eye an ordinary bloke out shopping but to the enlightened no less than one of the members of one of the greatest bands ever. "Billy Docherty -TDU" I shout and before he knows what's hit him-I've dragged him over for a cup of tea, even though he doesn't want one. Good conversation, top bloke (pity about Man U fixation Billy - having lived in Manchester its got to be City). I'm seriously considering some kind of plaque (Billy Docherty -TDU stood here 26/08/00) at the moment it's an A4 piece of paper with an arrow). Billy tells me that he's more into dance music at the moment which is cool- after all the world moves on but it seems probable that there will be more gigs. The website comes up in conversation and I tell him how great it is that he contributes. Billy says that if he was a fan of a band he would really appreciate a band member joining the website and seems genuinely appreciative and slightly surprised by it all. Off he wanders and I mention to numerous friends an acquaitances who has just stood there and do you know what they were not that impressed -the FOOLS. On another point - I saw Eleven at the Marquee sometime in 1984 - they had a song called My Metropolis and if memory serves also did a Peel session. The singer was a black guy whose name I can't remember - they weren't terrible - more like a band who hadn't time to develop. I also saw Simply Red (before they were signed) doing a cover of Teenage Kicks and I remember a conversation with Hucknell when he praised the Tones to High Heaven and said that that was the spirit he was aiming for. What happened Mick? Time to fly Arthur Magee

Well, if CMoS has put it in Black & White that's good enough for me ! I've had to consult my fixture list in case it's a Saturday and Albion play twice in London in December,so it could be Albion in the afternoon and The 'tones in the evening,as Homer would say...aaarrrgghhhh.Although a friday night would be even better.Who am I kidding, any b100dy night would do!! Just going to choose which pants and socks to wear...........

Cliff on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-408
Great story Arthur, although as you're a bit of a legend yourself in those parts, maybe it's Billy who'll be dining out on that story for months! By the way, who is this Billy Do(c)herty guy ?

Cliff @ on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-409
Mark, regarding your question about live footage of 'Wednesday Week' and 'You've got my number' the answer is yes,e-mail me for more info.

phil on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-410
arthur...do you work at the kiosk in Castle place?

George on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-411
I've got part of the Peel 'Eleven' session on tape. One of the songs played was Metropolis. I have a photo of the singer, which was sent to me by an Undertones fan in Japan who became a penpal for several years after meeting her at an Undertones concert at Hammersmith Palais in 1980 or 81. She travelled over from Japan for the concert. Now is that dedication!

AARRGGHH!!!- you're all driving me mad. First it was the hopeless task of tring to sort out a definitive 60 minute tape. Then as if that wasn't hard enough it gets widened to what would the best cover versions be from the entire history of recorded music!!. I've spent days with this driving me mad. I'd more or less decided to wipe out the dance side of things & then Billy says thats what he's listening to! I used to think I was a spotter - but you all eclipse me - I am not worthy. I didn't know of the Carolines, had heard of Eleven (but didn't know they had ever recorded anything & thought it was Billy on his own, without Damien & Mickey). You're all even dragging me out of Lurker mode, so now it's my turn - who would do the remixes?

Pete the Lurker on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-413
Just dug out a book I have with all the Peel sessions detailed (had a free cd with an Undertones track on.....funny how I ended up buying it) The Eleven session was as follows: 27/6/84: 1)If I was you and you were me 2)Drop That Bomb 3)My metropolis 4)Perpetual emotion (love is a...). The line up was Frederic Ravel (drums), Michael Bradley (bass), Damian O'Neil (guitar) & David Drumbold (lead vocals)

Adrian on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-414
Its nice to know that the drummer in one of the best bands in the world, also knows what he's talking about when it comes to football!Although if you are resposible for Take That reforming you might have to go into hiding! One more thing,I've been listening to the live Petrols album,if anyone can get through that album without shedding a tear they have stopped breathing!Although I suppose the O'Neill's might be a bit busy for a Petrols reunion as well(i hope!)

Cliff @ on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-415
alright then, lets get this over with as quickly as possible,Billy (DTU)and now Adrian have taken those first brave steps in asking for help, does anybody else want to "come out" and tell us they support Man Utd ? Paul Macloone ? Michael Bradley ? CMoS ? Dave Richings ?

Cliff on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-416
I've noticed a couple of recent posts have described the 'tones as "one of the best bands in the world" I don't understand the "one of" part ?

©® on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-417
Hey Cliff, we know a song about Man United don't we? All together now: WHOOO THE F........ oops, sorry, family website and all that!

Cliff on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-418
Rumour has it, City Rocker, that Paul is a season ticket holder at Bristol Rovers !! (although you can't believe everything you read on here!)

Arthur on 05:04 28th-Jan-00 GMT #87d-419
Phil - yes I do, on an ad hoc basis. Come and say hullo.
