Lee, someone may correct me as I only recorded the last half hour but I don't think the Undertones weren't on. If I remember rightly the coverage was in two parts so they may be on this coming Sat(?) - I'll let you know tomorrow when next week's tv mags are out.

Lindsay on ? GMT #4fc-5191
sorry, that should read 'were on'.

Lee on ? GMT #188-5197
For the non technically minded what is VCD ? I hope this isn't some really easy abbreviation that I should know.

Cliff, totally agree with you about bands that do all these histronics. On sat. I went to the Fleadh and Neil Young was dragging out song endings like no tomorrow. He did play a good set, but I could have done without all the guitar w*nking,he could have easily fitted another 5 songs into his set. The Waterboys were excellent, back playing the big music again, The Pan Within was stunning. Teenage Fanclub were supurb, as always, it's the melodies that get you, plus they don't piss about with extendeding songs! Glen Tilbrook impressed me as well, I'm not a Squeeze fan at all, but he did put on an excellent show. One thing I do think should be erradicated are tribute bands, especially ones where the original bands are still going...Why would you want to go and see them and not the real deal? I'm convinced that it is only people with a passing interset in music that go and see these bands play! I would much rather go and see a band play a set of heartfelt original songs! Lee, Who reccomendations...."Who's Next" is essential, "The Who Sell Out" and "Quadraphenia" all good stuff. Seamie, I saw the Bankrobbers at the General Wolfe in Coventry, they were giving out Mock banknotes, I think I might still have it somewhere. Bap Kennedy was the singer, I think, who then went on to form Energy Orchard. He put out a good solo CD a couple of years ago of covers of Hank Williams songs.

Not Interset but Interest...Lee, VCD is Video Compact Disc.

after getting home from that Who gig I decided to stay up to see the fleadh just in case "julie ocean" was on it as I havent seen that version. On the ITV teletext it said "featuring The Undertones" .With a few beers inside me I fell asleep and woke up at 3:59AM just in time to see the bloody credits and hear the bloke say,"next week the 2nd part featuring The Undertones".Lets see what happens next week!

Wilke, thats a good question about the lobster t-shirt.I would have thought that would be OK for the spread the word tour but CMoS is "big brother" so we'll have to await his final word.I posted your t-shirt today.

CMoS on 05:52 12th-Dec-00 GMT #a5b-5202
Anything's good for 'Spread The Word' after all its all about people asking you 'what are you doing'. Of course a T-shirt can also be 'Spread Cliffs Emporium' :-)

Re: VCDs for the more technically retentive theses are CDs that give about 72mins of video. They are 25fps at 352x288 for PAL. The picture compares favourably to VHS but has some distinct advantages. It never degrades - gets twisted or snaps and it can be copied ad infinitum without losing anything. I bought aload of stuff a few years ago to do the Rockpalast one - which is now been improved a bit between tracks. A graphics card'll write the VCD files (bandwidth limited MPG1s) straight to hard disk - where you can blow them to CD. They can be played on a PC or any DVD player. Doing them live is better (cf VCR) as VHS has already severely degraded the resolution of the picture. Obivously DVDs are better but making your own is prohibitably expensive.

tell us something we didn't already know CMoS ;-))
