Hi all - I've not been on for a while as I've been coping with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl which prevents the problem of naming her after the band. Talk about a steep learning curve.. so I will probably be going to Belfast but Derry or Letterkenny are probably out. I think Shane McGowan was reasonably talented but his retake on the Brendan Behan drunken Irish novelist went a little bit too easily towards a stereotype. For me growing up in a large estate, hanging around trying to cop off (usually unsuccessfully) the Undertones were something I could relate to.. Urban Folk Music if you like. CLIFF SEND ME A LOBSER T SHIRT As for the Clash, weren't they put together by Bernie Rhodes .. Lee on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fb0-5341 Congratulations Arthur - I am sure you will shortly get the list of recommended names from song references (Julie being the most obvious that springs to mind). Have you built up your sleep requirements lately. I am sure they are all different as everyone says but we had a baby girl last year and I am only just recovering. For 9 months the longest sleep she had, day or night was 2 hours. I spent almost 6 months sleeping on the floor downstairs just so that I could vaguely get by at work. Still wouldn't have it any other way because she is happy. Lee @ on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fb0-5342 Pressure drop is an absolute classic and I never tire of hearing any version of it. Have the Clash fans out there heard the unreleased tracks from the Combat Rock outtakes ? If not and you want to know more click on the name to email me. Lee on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fb0-5343 Lindsay - as soon as I can find a few minutes at home I will take you up on the offer of the video. Thanks. Lee on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fb0-5344 Just getting a quick batch of postings in while I have a second. I took the day off yesterday and had to go into the loft for something. While in there I came across a folder I hadn't realised I still had. Hopefully it has all of my ticket stubs and programmes from gigs gone by (1978 - 89 it says on the outside). Should bring back a few memories to relay to you all. CMoS - if I find anything do you want me to scan it and email it or send it in the post ? Cliff on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #40b-5345 CMoS,thanks for putting the lobster t-shirt pic up but can you change the price. It's £10 INCLUDING P+P not £10 plus P+P.also there are a couple of sweats both Large(equivalent to XL t-shirt)one grey and one black @ £15inc P+P. Hugh on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #64f-5346 Liam, I thought we were on ceasefire. Lee, Arthur, I have a girl aged 3 and another who will be 1 tomorrow. Ian Dury recorded a lovely song called "You're My Baby". It's on his last album "Mr Lovepants". Poignant because of his death and a nice one to listen to if you are feeling soppy about your children. You know how your hormones play up after childbirth?. The Undertones (TK) were on the soundtack to a movie called That Summer around about 1980. It was released as a various artists LP. Another compilation I have featuring them is "The Sire Machine Turns You Up" featuring artists off the Sire label. It came out around the same time. I think there are at least two tracks of theirs on there. George on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #9ba-5347 Congratulations Arthur on the birth of your baby girl. Perhaps Cliff will have to produce some miniture t-shirts, or bibs or something. Lets hope the weather is as good as the last few days when the Undertones concerts come around, particularly any being played outdoors. ©® on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #918-5348 I had the That Summer soundtrack album on red vinyl, but it's long lost. Shame as it was a superb collection of 1977-79 era tunes, eg Ramones, Only Ones, Elvis Costello, Wreckless Eric etc. Another one is Life In The European Theatre, an anti-nuclear benefit album from about 1981 featuring It's Going To Happen. Also includes that Bernard Rhodes-manufactured boyband known as the Clash! :o) VINNY on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #02a-5349 Ref: the repainting of BULL PARK wall. It was myself and my brother that did the original in 1980 so if anyone wants to repaint it in the Summer they will have to apply in writing with the proper forms to us c/o THE UNDERTONES WALL SOCIETY,Derry Gaol, Derry. All requests will be considered seriously(by Derry City Council no doubt). PS GREAT IDEA. GD on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #11e-5350 Vinny I must say youse choose a good brand of paint to lick that wall, lasted for ages. Did you know that the Police are still looking for you and your brother, vandals hi. Phil on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fad-5351 Hello, Hello, It's good to be back, good to be back..........give me a few days/weeks to catch up on the postings since my last entry and I will be right with you, trying to adjust to this big yellow thing in the sky and the incredible heat, never had none of this in Belfast!!!! Lindsay on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #3fe-5352 You kept that one quiet Arthur - many congrats! Don't ask me to babysit though - I'm useless with babies and you lot sound more maternal than I've ever been. Lindsay on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #3fe-5353 I like a spot of DIY. Perhaps (and it's a long shot!) if I have room in my case I could pack a paintbrush and tin. Hello PHIL - have you moved already? And RICK - whereabouts in Leeds does your sister live? Cliff(40 and never been to America) on 05:53 22nd-Dec-00 GMT #fef-5354 Nice to have you back on Phil.If I was there the first thing I'd do is go to one of those coffee sandwich bars and say,"a pestrami sandwich and go heavy on the mayo" (one day,one day.......)
