Still have the BCRs? Really? Perhaps my interest in punk was misguided! I once took a client to Wimbledon (not that sort of client! - he was a Manager for Bradford & Bingley - good for a laugh but not the brightest chap I've ever met). Cost to the firm was over £600 - posh champagne lunch in a marquee etc. so I puts on all my best gear and what does the guy turn up in - Jeans!!

18 years ago on this very day The Undertones played their farewell UK show at Selhurst Park. As we all know, The Thompson Twits were higher on the billing than The Undertones! Where are they now, and who cares?! I'd love to say I was there but, despite having a ticket stub, programme, photo's and tape, I wasn't!!

Cliff on 05:55 4th-Jan-01 GMT #c09-5537
I was there and it was a sad,sad occassion.I think the saddest part was that they were there in the first place. The point was that the vast majority of the people there that day couldn't give a crap about the Undertones.Playing a farewell gig in that enviroment was really an insult and as you say Dave, below the Thompson Twits.I wonder if 18 years later the TT are as much loved as the 'tones? (pissing myself laughing just thinking about it!).

I was there that day as well, and believe I would have been on the coach on the way home when Peter Gabriel was playing. I admit to having several Thompson Twins singles. I will not be going to the Derry concert on 22nd July. I am on a weeks training course that starts on Monday 23rd, so can't take the chance of not getting flights home etc. Will now need to choose between the 5th or 12th August concerts. Belfast on the 5th is probably favourite depending on work commitments.

Found a surprising half hour last night to dig through my old momentoes. Found a number of badges that I collected over the years which I was surprised I had kept. Hopefully will get around to scanning them and sending them through if CMoS is interested. Also found old ticket stubs and was surprised at some gigs I seem to have gone to but which are totally erased from my memory banks. I don't recall at all seeing Thin Lizzy but it seems I did. I have a few brief recollections of each Undertones gig but if anyone else was at any of the following and want to jog my memory banks a bit with anything that might have happened, by all means let me know. First thing I thought was - what fantastic value for money these must have been ! Attendance record would have definately included B'ham Odeon 23-10-79 with Tenpole Tudor (£2.75), B'ham Odeon 15-5-80 with The Moondogs (£3.00), Malvern Winter Gardens 17-5-80 with The Moondogs and Dolly Mixture (£3.00), B'ham Odeon 20-6-81 with Dolly Mixture (£3.25) and finally one that doesn't seem to be on the Pogoed at gigs page but I am 99.9% certain it happened, B'ham Odeon 8-4-83 with Cook Da Books (£3.50).

Lee,before you send CMoS those badges have a look at LUVERLY JUBBLY merchandise and then ANTIQUITIES.George has a large collection and they might already be on there.BTW there are 2 badges on the ebay auction site, one of them is not even in George's collection.

The Bay City Rollers - unfortunately, they are still with us. I think they played in Edinburgh last new year, or possibly the one before. I presume not the original line-up - particularly since one of them was banged up for downloading obscene material from the internet. And didn't the lead singer go through a punk phase after the demise of the Rollers? As for the Thompson Twins - they were on TV a few months back, when they admitted themselves that they were rubbish. No doubt they are planning a comeback tour though.

Lindsay, thank God I've found you after all this time! First I want to apologise for letting you down with my poor dress sense that day at Wimbledon. To make it up to you, I'd like to sponsor your next trip to see the Undertones in Derry. Darn it, I'd like to sponsor you ALL - just go into any branch of Bradford and Bingley this week, and ask to withdraw some travel funds from the "Humdingers" account. Tell them I sent you.

Theres a nice ASH advert in the Grandiuan this Sat - with the info that TK is on CD2.

There are now 12 seats taken on the 20 seater coach. £100 divided by 12 =£8.3333333 each at the moment!!ANY MORE TAKERS?

I was definitely at the Malvern Winter Gardens concert. The Undertones stayed in Monmouth the night before and I travelled with them to the concert. I was also at one of the Birmingham Odeon concerts but which one, my memory (and old age) does not let me recall. The Undertones stayed in a hotel which I think was directly opposite. I went looking for the new Ash single at the weekend but none of my local shops had it. I will try again later. It had a good review on Ceefax page 564, but no mention of Teenage Kicks which is the only reason I am buying it.

Arthur on 05:55 4th-Jan-01 GMT #29f-5546
I too was at the Selhurst Park concert so I was probably pogoing with some of you down the front. Distinct memory of some prat with a Gabriel is God banner which my brother and I asked to be removed (very politely). Only gig I'll get to is Belfast as time is of a premium.

Cliff on 05:55 4th-Jan-01 GMT #e31-5547
I went to the Bradford & Bingley this afternoon to withdraw some funds from the "humdinger" account.I was told "go away you sad bastard or we'll call security".I tried to explain that I'd been sent by the manager, but the next thing I knew these two burley guards dragged me out without my feet touching the floor. What's that about?

Manager, Bradford & Bingley on 05:55 4th-Jan-01 GMT #08b-5548
Cliff, sorry there has been a bit of a misunderstanding - staff problems. It may be easier if I transfer the Humdinger travel funds directly to your account - could you just post your credit card details on the website, and I'll, er, take it from there.

Lindsay on 05:55 4th-Jan-01 GMT #09a-5549
Ash's new release is 'Sometimes' which as I think I've mentioned before has to be my favourite track off the album. The write up George mentions is more accurate than the the Ch4 453 singles page, which describes it as 'sweet and pleasant but the accompanying Teenage Kicks cover is extremely regrettable'. What the hell is that all about? Presumably it means nothing could ever possibly match the original.
