Thanks for an excellent review Lindsay, I just had a tiny little feeling I was there so it was a good review!!! great news about the Doc, Vinny Hope it will be nationwide as we get the BBC South East (london) on cable here in Holland. No english gigs?? That does not exclude Dutch gigs (I am a little optimistic fool!!)

George on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #17d-5822
Cliff's review has just made me sick with envy. Hopefully Belfast will have as much excitement (without the problem of missing planes or luggage). Who were the support band anyway, not that you stayed to listen.

Cliff on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #49b-5824
"Clicky thing"...now your talking my language.I found it in "pogoed at gigs" in the end.

Derek Paton on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #2b7-5825

Liam, being successful is enough to get anyone beaten up in Derry and I seem to remember a general antipathy towards all of The Undertones. For all but a few the progressive rock of ToeJam was the in thing at the time-the Undertones were that unknown evil, "Punk Rock". It's only since the revival that everyone has suddenly aquired rose-tinted spectacles-doing that Derry City gig was great PR. Part of the uniqueness (and how many bands can you use that word about?) of the band was Feargal's spine-shivering voice. The rest of the band knew that and were prepared to put up with the fact that he a was a bit of a prat. My brother tells me that he heard John being interviewed on Radio Foyle and he said that he has written some "Undertones style" songs but there are some legal problems over recording them as "The Undertones" without Feargal.

Cliff on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #1a8-5827
Why not record the new songs as simply "Undertones" without the "The"?

CMoS on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #a5b-5828
Sorry cliffy it wa shar dto find the "news' point to the 'gig' which has your name first - or did someonme wlak off with your glasses again ;-)

How about "Derry's finest". I know it sounds like an advert for wine but like a fine wine it gets better with age. With apologies for any Moondogs fans who might disagree about the best band from Derry. Anyway can't see what the problem is about the name The Undertones, unless Feargal has copyright on it. It is better than The Undertones featuring Feagal Sharkey as on one of the compilation LPs. In that case "The Undertones without Feargal Sharkey but with Paul McLoone" instead AKA The Undertones for short. Has "minging" been added to the latest Oxford Dictionary? 20 years after appearing on the Hypnotised T-Shirts.

Donald on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #8e4-5831
Feargal is a god - end of story.

Lindsay on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #f4d-5832
Enjoyed your pics Jackie and your review Cliff and glad you remembered more about the concert than I did - it all becomes a blur afterwards for me - perhaps because I enjoy myself TOO much at the time! It's taken me over two days to fully recover (that's what getting old does for you). What did Damian have to say on the plane and will he be on Page 7 of the News of the World on Sunday?

Lindsay on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #f4d-5833
Hello Donald!

Donald on 05:58 23rd-Jan-01 GMT #8e4-5834
