Cliff, as the official travel agent of Undertones.net you should check out the Stansted-Dublin flights NOW as there's a massive exodus of the Irish home for Christmas from England around that time, seriously!!

Interesting article NAAW but yes does need some correction. I'm definitely up for Dublin but not Cork. Will book a flight soon but don't fancy Ryanair if they lose baggage. Of course, if Henry's bag had been stolen, the most valuable item (old SOP t-shirt) would have been missing but no doubt the camera etc. would still be there. How about this for an amazing coincidence just confirmed - Margaret (from the B&B in Derry), her daughter works in the SAME building for the SAME firm as Alastair!!

Tickets just arrived for the Belfast gig. Does anyone know if you need tickets for the Gasyard Festival gig in Derry. If so where do I get them.

Have seen The Tweenies, Midge Ure and Girls at Play today (and also the Stealth fighter). I think Midge Ure might have been live on Radio 2. Steve Harley, The Christians and Cosmic Rough Riders also played but I missed them.

Good to hear the gig was good. But can someone give us a set list? It would be good to know what the lads now consider a good set. As far as the name of the "new" recording band, it's got to be Billy Doherty and the Stroke City Lobsters. Soon to be shortened, after a mega hit re-release of T. Kicks, to the Lobsters. Here is a new topic...The weirdest cover versions seen live. I saw David Byrne recently (yes, Donald it was briliiant!) and for an encore he did "I Wanna Dance With somebody" (W. Housten), which was to me a bit of a shock, though he carried it off (somehow!). As a Stranglers fan my fav cover of all time is "Walk on By", but the best live cover I've witnessed was Elvis Costello when he did "One Day I'll Fly Away", and it wa sjust superb! So, give us your good ones and bad ones !... Cheers

Great news about the t.v appearance.I hope to go to Dublin on the 20th. Saving up the brownie points already. Baby girl born today 6.30pm. I feel fantastic. Smelly nappies here I come. The things you have to do to get to an Unde..... I mean the things you have to do as a modern father these days. Speak to you soon.

Best cover versions. John Peel session about a month ago had two blokes from hifidelity Allstars singing Teenage Kicks in a mellow latenite stylee....the interesting bit being that they sang the authentic chorus " I wanna hold IT wanna hold it tight....". Obviously true fans. (Not a patch on the 'Tones version though).

Congratulations Derek - I imagine that there may be much .net discussion about the possibility of organising a creche in Dublin for all the Bairns. I've checked out flights to Dublin - at the moment £72.00 return British Airways is the best I've found - cheaper than RyanAir and your bags travel with you + you don't get charged £1.50 for a cup of coffee. (www.expedia.co.uk).

Congratulations Derek! Good to know we have a new generation of kids who will grow up knowing the words to Teenage Kicks before they even start school! As for cover versions, how about 'Let's Talk About Girls'. I've never heard the Chocolate Watch version so can't compare the 'Tones effort to the original, but has to take some beating doesn't it? Agree with Donin' about Walk On By, it's superb. The Clash also came out with loads of great covers: Police & Thieves, Pressure Drop, Armagideon Time, Brand New Cadillac, Police On My Back, etc. I also highly recommend you check out China Drum's punk rock destruction of the Kate Bush bore, Wuthering Heights - quality!

Ryan Air have £50 return Bristol - Dublin flying out on the 19 Dec & returning on the 21st. That'll do nicely.
