I hope to stay in the Globetrotters Hostel. If not in the dorms then I might try to "upgrade" to a more private room.

Still 1 or 2 things to sort but I am hopeful for Dublin. George - who was your flight with ? At that price it might be cheaper for me to drive all the way to Edinburgh ! - in fact with a 7 seater people carrier if anyone wants picking up on the way this might not be a silly idea. But then again - typing as my thought processes tick over - would it be cheaper to get 7 into a car and cross on the ferry ? Anyone have any details on this sort of journey ? Geography is not my strong point.

To anyone flying into Dublin for the Cork gig, apparently the roads from Dublin to Cork are great.Allow 2-3 hours however.Check out the AA website as it allows you to key in details and gives you complete directions. Oh what a surfer I'm becoming!!!!!!!!

When I went to Wittness last year I stayed at the Globetrotters,it was cheap but excellent quality, friendly service and a good breakfast.I stayed in a shared dorm for 12 people(mostly girls,it was awful ;-)).It cost about £10 per night. At Xmas the Globetrotters was fully booked so along CR I stayed at a hostel virtually opposite which wasn't anything like as good but still OK for the money. It seems atleast 10 of us will be going so if we can get organised and book early enough we could book a room just for ourselves.Just think, we could sing Undertones songs until we fall asleep and maybe even have pillow fights. Now THATS what punk is all about.

I drove from Dublin to cork a couple of years ago and it was straightforward (it must have been cos i didnt get lost) we could soon hire something and travel down.

Because of the number of people returning home, travel to Ireland around Christmas can usually become expensive. So you're better booking sooner rather than later. I'll try and find out the cost of rail return tickets from Dublin to Cork.

Arthur on ? GMT #29f-6112
Five day return rail ticket (Dublin - Cork) at present is 35 punts about 25 pounds. Journey is approx 3 hours with 9 or 10 trains per day.Timetable changes in September.

sharing the cost of car hire might be the best bet Arthur. It's your turn to drive, none of this "I've got a bad back so I can't drive" bullshit and then waving your beer in front of me.Sound familiar?

Arthur on ? GMT #29f-6114
Tsk...Tsk...Tsk, Cliff - you almost sound bitter!

Arthur on ? GMT #29f-6115
Bitter get it!

Talk and whispers: I heard from someone I know in Liverpool who knows someone in Donegal who knows someone in Derry(phew!!!!!!!)that The Undertones are doing a benefit gig for a friend of their's in The Nerve Centre on October 12th.Apparently?

George on ? GMT #9ba-6117
A benefit concert on October 12th in Derry was mentioned by the band (I think Paul and John) in Belfast last week. I didn't hear the venue though. Tried booking accommodation for 20th December online at www.hostelworld.com which was suggested by Globetrotters but they are not one of the hostels where spaces are available for that night. Might resort to good old fashioned telephone.

A CAR Cliff?! Huh, we used to live in t' wheel arch of t' tour bus! 'Undred an' fifty of us there were, all clinging on for dear life with just axle grease for us dinner. And when we got to the gig, t' road crew would beat us senseless, tie us up wi' gaffer tape and use us for tailgate ramps. And we were grateful for it! Aye, them were 'appy days.

Cliff on ? GMT #6f2-6119
Sounds like you had it easy CR, you whimp.
