Lindsay on ? GMT #c45-6121
Didn't know you were from my neck of the woods CR! George - thanks for the photos but you also sent back the ones I sent you. Do you want me to send them back again? Is anyone planning flying to Dublin from Manchester/Midlands area - Derek, etc? I might make Cork as well but I certainly won't be staying in any cheap hostel - I'll be in the comfortable hotel across the road! Shame to miss the pillow fight though - can visitors join in do you think?

Lindsay, I will be travelling from manchester, Liverpool, or Birmingham. Whichever gets me to the Cork gig on time and is the cheapest. Have you checked out the times / prices? What time do we need to get to Cork for? Can't someone drive a minibus like you did at Derry? It seems sensible if a few of us are going to pay £25 for the train. Any takers?

Cliff on ? GMT #66e-6124
I don't mind Derek, as long as you don't all sing "Summer Holiday" in the back.

Derek on ? GMT #96e-6125
Cliff, If I'm in the back seat I'll be looking after the beer or cider in mine and CR'S case. Any way George is spot on with the cost from Edinburgh. The flights are really cheap from there. Manchester seems the cheapest from our area Lindsay, particularly if you go on the 11.40am Weds flight. I was thinking of doing that one and coming back on the early (7.30) flight on the 21st. ANY THOUGHT ON A CHEAPER WAY?

Lindsay on ? GMT #45a-6126
I've never driven a minibus in my life Derek! The flights are much more expensive than George has got - over 70 quid. Why should we have to pay so much more to travel from England??

Lindsay on ? GMT #45a-6127
Outward sounds okay but there's no way I could make a 7.30am flight - I won't even have had breakfast by then.

This pillow fight got me over, and maybe that band too...I am considering traveling to Dublin too and am thrilled to catch the UIndertones live for the first time since 83 and meet & greet you lot!

A CAR Cliff?! Huh, we used to live in t' wheel arch of t' tour bus! 'Undred an' fifty of us there were, all clinging on for dear life with just axle grease for us dinner. And when we got to the gig, t' road crew would beat us senseless, tie us up wi' gaffer tape and use us for tailgate ramps. And we were grateful for it! Aye, them were 'appy days......but try telling that to kids today, they won't believe you.....

George, I think both X-Valdez & no flies on Frank are out of print. ee who came on this site a while back couldn't get them & he says he ordered them quite a few times. I've got no flies on frank, so if you can't get it let me know & I'll copy it

George on ? GMT #9ba-6131
Thanks Pete - I'll let you know. Talking to Damian on Sunday and he says he only has a few copies of No flies on Frank

Jaytee - if your question isn't a wind-up on an Undertones site, the song you're enquiring about is 'Never Never' by one off act The Assembly who were Vince Clarke (ex-Depeche Mode & Yazoo) and the amazingly vocalled Feargal Sharkey (ex-greatest band of all time - The Undertones). The single was released in 1984 I think before Clarke formed Erasure and Feargal went on to MOR greatness. Single reached the top 5.

The following is taken from the Derry Journal: Playing a homecoming gig at the Gasyard Feile was an event just waiting to happen, the Undertones have revealed. Two members of the original band - Mickey Bradley and John O'Neill - yesterday gathered at the Gasyard Feile site for a press conference to announce details of their forthcoming gig. by Jennifer Doherty The gig, which will take place next Sunday, August 12, is the highlight of the eight day festival which is packed with music, drama and exhibitions. And Mickey Bradley told the 'Journal' that on paper, an Undertones reunion may have seemed like a bad idea. But since John and Damian O'Neill, Michael Bradley, Billy Doherty and new kid on the block Paul McLoone, have started playing together, they haven't looked back. The band are enjoying a phenomenal revival and are converting a whole new generation of fans to the punk era. Mickey said: "Getting back together is a bad idea in theory, but it seems to be working out okay. It is all a very pleasant surprise and I am still amazed. "But I wouldn't want it as a career again - it's just one part of our lives. We don't have a masterplan. But we were always going to do the Gasyard Feile." Mickey, who now works as a producer at Radio Foyle said: "We have never played here before, but we can't wait. The last time I was here was a few years ago when I was working as a producer for an outside broadcast for the Hugo Duncan show. "Then it was just a field, but the Feile gets better every year. It will be a great gig, but it all depends on the weather, but when you think that it only costs £2 to get in, the gig is more or less free. "We haven't changed anything, we are still doing the same Undertones songs, but our singles "Teenage Kicks" and "My Perfect Cousin" really get the crowd going. "Its a good chance for people who didn't see us play the first time around the come and see us. "A few weeks ago we were playing in Letterkenny and there were young people of about 18 coming up after the gig and saying how much they enjoyed the show - they were going mad for the music." Fellow band member John O'Neill revealed that he had been working on a few new songs for the band, but said they would not get public airing for a while. He said: "There are a few songs which I have been working on and trying them out. They are very much in the old style." But as for the future, the band admit that they have no real masterplan and are just enjoying their success. Mickey added: "It would be great to go to America, but to do it right we would need to be there for weeks, and I don't think we really want that - it would be great to go there for a daytrip!" Next Saturday, August 11, sees The Evangelists, ICB, Tracey Cullen, The Paul Casey Band and Abbagold roadshow takes to the stage from 7pm. The Undertones will headline on Sunday from 7 pm, supported by The Sirocco MCs, Clearshot, Neck and Bam Bam and the Calling.

They'd a piece on the Gasyard Feile on the evening news lastnight but no mention of the Tones - it looks a great project. Reading the report - one thing that I totally agree with is opening up a new audience for the band. I'm not sure how the website could be used for this, or even if people would want it, but it's mostly the converted who appear on here. So many younger people, even around Belfast, have never even heard of them. And these kids are in to the type of guitar bands that owe much of their existence to the Tones and whose materiel is frankly not in the same league. I don't know exactly how we'd go about it but reaching out to a whole new audience seems to me the best way for the band to go forward. Any views....
