hey are there any girls posting here at all. i just have a bit of a gurlie question or 2. is not paul mcloone a bit of a cutie if a little psychotic. And...is he attached??

Donald on ? GMT #f4f-6361
Jackie - huuby should be ecstatic you are taking him away for a w/e to see the best band in creation. If he's not happy tell him he was nearly going to Australia.

djin on ? GMT #c26-6362
oy! is mcloone spoken for?!

Jackie on ? GMT #455-6363
Yes there are girlies!! And Paul McCloone is not a cutie- you need to look in the direction of the lead guitarist for that. I reckon he's bound to be spoken for-arent we (they) all? While we are discussing this how old is he? Somehow I think he's younger than the rest.Ask Lindsay- she's been up close and personal!Which reminds me is she away at the moment?

George on ? GMT #9ba-6364
I think Paul is 34 (give or take a year). It actually was discussed at Belfast. As for being a cutie - Nothing personal, but he is definitely not my type, neither is the lead guitarist. As for being single - We'll have to let Paul answer that. Have any of the Derry contributors paid the £27.50 to see Bryan Adams support the Undertones next week.

Where's CR? Top of Div 2 mate! (but probably only for another few days). Sorry I've been busy with stuff, so not much time for internetting. The White Stripes ('the future of rock'n'roll') played Bristol the other week and I missed them, that's how busy I am! Agree with Rick & CMoS about U2 ('join the Global Movement Against Globalism!'), first 2 albums were awesome, 3rd was good as well, but after that lost all credibility I'm afraid. BTW, in December, Jake Burns, Jean-Jacques Burnel, Steve Diggle and Pauline Black (The Selecter) tour the UK as "Three Men & Black". Each artist will perform acoustic versions of songs from their careers and spin stories. Could be interesting? Or just a bit sad? You decide.

Interesting to hear about 'Three Men & Black'. A similar aging rock star collective called Dead Men Walking are about to embark on an extensive UK tour. Debuting at the recent Guildford Festival it comprises Pete Wylie (ex-Wah), Kirk Brandon (Spear of Destiny/Theatre of Hate), Glen Matlock (Pistols) and unfortunately Mike Peters (godawful Clash copyists The Alarm). Each take it in turn to do acoustic versions of their old favourites. Might be interesting but more likely not. Thank God the Undertones didn't choose this way to return. Imagine John O'Neill sharing a stage with other less notable punk stars sitting on a stool doing an acoustic version of Teenage Kicks.

That lot were rubbish the first time round!

Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions CD 1 Track 9 "Whole Lotta Love" last 30s "I Got those West Bromich Blues"

Oh Rick - just as we bonded over the U2 issue then poor Mr Peters gets it in the neck - oh dear. There was a difference between the alarm and the clash - you always got back stage with the latter

You were supposed to get backstage with The Clash so I heard many years ago. So the day they played B'ham I wait outside all day long. They arrive, drive past, get out of the car and Strummer in particular ran off. There was no Bay City Rollers type hysteria involved - just me and 3 others strolling towards them. Later on only Mick Jones came out to see us and chatted for half an hour. No invite for the sound check or anything. Never saw sight or sound of the rest. Don't know what happened that day - have seen in print they slagged off the Top Rank which is where we were. If anyone knows why they hated the place or what happened that day (Perhaps it was me !) let me know. Still didn't stop me thinking Strummer was a god but it was a bit off putting. Did hear the sound check from outside which was awesome. Had never heard Bankrobber but it just sounded so good - one of those moments to remember. Sorry - is this an Undertones site ?

Lee on ? GMT #fb0-6371
Off on my travels to Holland tomorrow for work for a few days so don't post too much - it takes me too long to catch up. Just an hour from where Julius lives but won't be able to meet him unfortunately.

Just got the first two of about 4 or 5 VHS tapes of vintage Undertones,SLF, Rudi, Protex, Ex-Producers, Moondawgs and other bands. The quality is brilliant on most, and good on the others. Given the age of some of this stuff it's amazing to listen to and see. Here is a brief listing of what I have just received: UNDERTONES, WERCHTER FESTIVAL BELGIUM 1981, 4MIN UNDERTONES, BRIXTON ACE 1982, 38MIN UNDERTONES, PERFECT COUSIN, TOP OF THE POPS,BRITISH ROCK READY FOR THE 80S, GTV VERSION, PARTS 1&2, 86MIN ROCKIN THE NORTH, IRISH TV EDITION 3,ROCKING THE NORTH EDITION 4, 25MIN PUNK TOP 10, 90MINS INCLUDES ADVERT BREAKS, JAM, NEWCASTLE 28.10.80, 25MIN JAM, TRANSGLOBAL EXPRESS 21.03.82, 30MIN UNDERTONES, TEENAGE KICKS, TOP OF THE POPS, 3MIN REVOLVER, EDITION 2 I don't know if you Belfast people remember a television show called Green Rock, but it features all the upstart Punk bands very early on in 1978 I would guess, based on the look and the fact that the Undertones only had 6 songs written at the time. You see a very, very young Terry Howlie and I never even realized that either he has a glass eye or a very lazy eye until seeing these tapes. It was like looking back into time!

lee - you should have tired the Colston Hall it was chez Clash there. Uhmm Clah soundchecks - "Oh oh the israelites"

Rick on ? GMT #c16-6374
CmoS - do I take it that you like The Alarm then ? - mullet hair cuts, Rhyll background, and shouty shouty yawn songs like '68 Guns' and 'Spirit of '76' (they wish!) that sound like rejects from the first Clash album.
