been playing some tones today. 'save me' is (in my opinion) one of the best tracks on the 'sin of pride'. but now every time i hear it i seem to remember cliff saying he didn't like it. cliff your spoiling one of my favourite songs. say you like it for goodness sake.

sorry derek! when i say i don't like it i mean its not up there with the undertones greats(imo).there are approx 50 undertones songs that get a 9 or 10 mark, "save me" gets a 7 in my book, and of course its a cover.

horrible day today, i hope you fellow humdingers dont mind me sharing this with you.when we opened the shop we wanted 3 weekend part-timers.it was difficult to choose so we narrowed it down to 6 and told them we'd give them all a go then choose the best 3.only one of them was a lad,we were impressed with him from the interview,nice lad,bright,cheerful and looked smart.

everytime he walked past the shop prior to us opening he'd give us a cheerful confident wave.unfortunately though it didn't work out as all he wanted to do was serve customers, he didnt fancy cleaning the loos or washing up,etc etc.that was understandable, but he had to go.he came in the shop several times after and had a chat, i think he missed being involved.

on tuesday he asked me if he could have his job back as he now realised he had to do a bit of everything, but i didnt think it was a good idea and we'd since replaced him so i said "sorry but no".why am i telling you all this? last night he was killed in a hit and run...he was 14.

oh god cliff thats terrible-you must be feeling awful. should he have been working at 14? we all hope your venture is going well otherwise. looking forward to meeting you in dublin.

its 11.20 now (as the clock's knacked) and i'm off to do another hours work on the pc for school tomorrow. we're being inspected in 2 weeks time so my netting will be reduced. though i am in the computer room all day tomorrow so i will be tuned in.

thats a sad story cliff, but you werent to know and did what was best. what a tragedy though. lifes short.

sad news cliff. yesterday i was setting out my will. the last couple of times i have flown i have written a note expressing what i would want to happen to the money i haven't got should anything happen to me and left copies at home, at work, on my computers etc. yesterday i managed to make it more official.

i'm a definite for the undertones documentary at the lff both friday & sunday. i'm a member of the bfi (british film institute) so normally get the lff booking programme early (and a discount on tickets). hope to finally meet up with one and all (and i promise to be nice to everyone).

liam: there is a 'cast and crew preview' on 22nd sept but unfortunately we are really limited in numbers for invites, it literally will be those involved in making, funding etc of the film. however, the foyle film festival are screening it on sat 17 november. before that the 'shorter' version is on bbc1 on 27 sept and the film is being shown at cork and london in oct and november. we would have loved to get a big venue for 22nd sept in derry that would have held about 400 but it didn't work out.
