NFT1 are screening it again on Thursday night 9pm. Plenty of tickets left apparently when I book mine on Saturday. Anyone going? or am I the only one not to have seen it yet?!

Rick on 09:48 19th-Nov-01 GMT #c16-11006
Sorry I didn't introduce myself on Friday. As I said earlier I had to dash to a mates gig that started at 8pm. Also, yesterday I was laid up in bed with a soaring temperature and had to miss the Brixton showing (must have been the come down from Friday!). May go to the Thursday showing at NFT 1 this week - is anyone else likely to be there ?

Cliff on 10:48 19th-Nov-01 GMT #c24-11007
Just talking to somebody who saw White Stripes in Glasgow last night. He says they're great and I got tempted but then find out theres only 2 in the band(possibly husband and wife?).Anybody know anything?

Arthur on 10:55 19th-Nov-01 GMT #29f-11008
Just a note to mention Saturday night. First the film is so much better on a big screen and the longer version is far better than the shortened TV version. The songs came blasting out of the speakers with some of the power and intensity of a live gig. Hooley was very funny and loved it. Interesting insights - the pure balls needed to stand against the small town mentality and the pure talent that translated so brilliantly into the songs. And it's the songs that I've always loved about the band, top tune after top tune. Beautiful Music from an Ugly Place.

CMoS on 11:01 19th-Nov-01 GMT [theundertones.net/lff.htm] #a5b-11009
Is that NK c.f ginger babe - AIIK - how come I get stick for intials when youff culture talks in them

CMoS on 11:01 19th-Nov-01 GMT #a5b-11010
CLiffy - husband and wife or brother and sister - know body knows ...

Cliff on 11:03 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11011
Maybe coz we're not yoof culture CMoS?

Cliff on 11:03 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11012
Apart from Dave Richings that is ;-))

Cliff on 11:07 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11013
Nice pics CMos.How do you manage to make it look as if I've just sold something to Henry and I'm trying to find some change? Also, is that really Dave R or a Madamme Tassauds version?

Cliff on 11:10 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11014
That isn't Pete the Lurker in the background it's that bloke wearing the Fulham scarf.

Cliff on 11:14 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11015
That bloke in the film who said 'beautiful music from an ugly place'.I actually walked past him when I was going to the bookies in Derry, but I didn't realise who he was.Whats his name? He said some really good things, really put it across well.He can have a free sandwich in Southend any time.

Cliff on 11:21 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11016
I thought Feargal was a bit smug with his comments about playing in Germany in front of 100,000 singing 'Teenage Kicks'.This age thing is a problem for some,I really dont know why.I much prefer Billy's view on things which, in a nutshell, seems to be: Don't over analyse it...just do it! If people are enjoying themselves then whats the problem? Nothing worse than looking back when you're 75 and saying 'if only...'

Cliff on 11:24 19th-Nov-01 GMT #f12-11017
I see that Undertones bra has gone from the ebay auction site.Did anybody else notice George had a fuller figure yesterday?

Dave R on 11:35 19th-Nov-01 GMT [www.dolanspub.com] #395-11018
Apparently there's a gig at Dolan's warehouse on Friday 21st December (see address above). Cliff, yes that really is me! Truly bloody hideous - this is what happens when you defect from Essex.

Cliff on 11:45 19th-Nov-01 GMT #35c-11019
Well spotted Dave, we heard rumours of other gigs in Ireland. The Nerve Centre was also confirmed yesterday on Dec 28th and there are secret talks of a 'New Years Eve Special' at the 'Coffee House' in Southend.I'll keep you posted on that one ;-))

Jackie on 12:16 19th-Nov-01 GMT #413-11020
George- I beat you home I got in at 11.45pm! Quite the best day for ages, film was class, the boys were (are) brilliant but still so understated! It was great to laugh (in all the wrong places) and mint to meet up with George, Cliff Lindsay et Al- and a famous person at the bar!! Can't wait til Dublin.

Jackie on 12:17 19th-Nov-01 GMT #413-11021
Oh and George thanks for the tapes!

Jackie on 12:20 19th-Nov-01 GMT #413-11022
The best thing was your film let the boys speak, and pause and get things across (especially John) and I liked the way you showed WHOLE clips (like Get Over you and True Confessions) rather than the way they do things on telly ie 1000 cuts and clips which last 5 seconds and have talking over the top totally ruining it. (If you know what I mean) It was good to hear the band speak for themselves in other words!!

George on 12:32 19th-Nov-01 GMT #aab-11023
Damian says in the film it has taken the band over 20 years to realise how brilliant they were. Hopefully they are not going to make the same mistake second time around. They were and still are brilliant. I doubt if I will be able to pogo as well in 20 years time as I still can now, so the extra two concerts are great. I doubt if I can attend either, but hopefully there will be other opportunities.

Lee on 12:57 19th-Nov-01 GMT #fb0-11024
Sounds like a good time was had by one and all. Better than Harry Potter anyway ! I did manage to stay awake which is unusual for me when I take the kids to the cinema. And when the guy behind me started snoring and my wife and kids looked at me expecting me to be out of it but finding me surprisingly wide awake I thought it can't be that bad a film. Getting sent out to get everyone a drink with half an hour of the film to go isn't good though - took 15 minutes and when I got back I'd missed the best bits apparently. If anyone else is going - take a drink with you - it's a long one.

Lee @ on 13:14 19th-Nov-01 GMT #fb0-11025
Steve - also just ordered my ticket for tomorrow. Probably can't get there for the start - fancy meeting somewhere beforehand ? Are you taking a lobster so I can recognise you ? Email attached is work one so drop me a line and perhaps we can arrange something.

Lindsay on 17:27 19th-Nov-01 GMT #a3c-11026
Great day out yesterday - nice to meet old (not in the wrinkly sense!) and new faces and DAMIAN!!! (sorry Rick! get well soon anyway - we did wonder where you'd got to). VINNY you can be mighty proud of your masterpiece. What else can I say - FANTASTIC.

Lindsay on 17:34 19th-Nov-01 GMT #a3c-11027
I've just watched the shorter version and entirely agree with Arthur. Generally it just didn't flow like the film yesterday. Full songs replaced by snippets and whole bits like the TPE coverage missed out. At least we still got Paul doing his Jimmy Saville impression - brilliant! I want to see the whole version again (and again) - it perfectly captured the mood of the times and the way within that the band and the songwriting developed. Seeing the film on the big screen added that extra dimension to the content - no wonder people were crying! PS. Cliff, that guy's name was Anthony Cassidy and Henry, we'll expect a full demonstration of your breakdancing skills in Cork (after a few beers of course). Got my tickets today - well excited.

vinny on 17:38 19th-Nov-01 GMT [www.krause.com/records/di/articlepage/articlepage_6.html] #d12-11028
This may have been listed before, an interesting read

vinny on 17:42 19th-Nov-01 GMT #d12-11029
Thanks Lindsay for the comments. I agree about the TV version, especially as we had to cut the long first and trim to to 39mins exactly for a BBC transmission. It's still a good programme however!!

CMoS on 18:32 19th-Nov-01 GMT #a5b-11030
The show in Dolans is on the 21st - that'll 3 days running what will wifey say

wilke @ on 18:42 19th-Nov-01 GMT #453-11031

Mark. on 20:25 19th-Nov-01 GMT #735-11032
Can someone confirm the gigs exactly? I'm just rousing from my deep depression, I couldn't and can't make the London Film show or, the Cork or Dublin gigs. More gigs would be fantastic.....I just happen to be off for Christmas.....

Mark. on 20:38 19th-Nov-01 GMT #735-11033
Vinny. There will be a bit of a satellite delay to this because of me trawling back through the previous comments. I really hope the film is well received everywhere because its nice to see that someone has tackled something a little bit out of the norm. I just wish I has been able to go to London, but couldn't through various circumstances. Very good luck with the film. I just hope I can get to see the Undertones at Christmas! (By the way, any plans for Warwick Arts Centre. I'd be very pleased to help out or lobby them to get the film shown!)

Cliff on 20:51 19th-Nov-01 GMT #b95-11034
In that article Vinny mentions below, MB says 'I don't want to be too precious about it as well, because after all - it was only a band. It's not as if we were pioneering heart surgeons.' hmmm, what will he say next....footballs only a game?

Mark. on 21:13 19th-Nov-01 GMT #735-11035
PS. Vinny. Can I have your job? It sounds like heaven.......

Jackie on 21:53 19th-Nov-01 GMT #455-11037
HMMMmm Dolans on the 21st- could be possible- how far is it from Dublin??Anyone else game for a laugh?

manus martin @ on 21:53 19th-Nov-01 GMT #b0c-11038
Glad you all enjoyed the film.Cliff Eamon McCann is the guy you passed en route to the bookies. He also described Teenage Kicks as a 'most gorgeous noise' .He is the last remaining true socialist in the world and wouldnt be seen dead in a chic sandwich bar in Southend-on-Sea.I am looking forward to going to the Nerve Centre on the 28th this time as a fan.

Julius on 22:25 19th-Nov-01 GMT #0d6-11039
great to read the stories about the film, cant wait to see it in January in Rotterdam. I am so enjoying the TV Version right now and according to your words(who 've seen the film) that is only the foreplay!!!

Cliff on 00:09 20th-Nov-01 GMT #5a5-11040
Do you mean coz it's 'chic' or coz its in Southend-On-Sea? It's not really chic though, we do a pot of tea and a cake for £1, now thats not bad is it?

Cliff on 00:11 20th-Nov-01 GMT #5a5-11041
Any of you from Derry know who Johnny Quiggly is?
