The Undertones Nerve Centre gig at Christmas really brought back back old memories - what I`d like to know is - Is the Vinney that appears on this site the same Vinney O`Neill I interviewed in 1979 for my fanzine Positive Reaction? If it is, does he remember the Omagh gigs in 1980-81 where we actually met. Backstage, after the gig Mickey and Damien were stealing frozen chips and chickens from the freezers in the hotel kitchen and were filling their hold-alls with other goodies!!

Nice one Vinny- something to cheer me up as I cant make Ocean. We definately need a north of England SATURDAY NIGHT gig (anyone out there listening?) I'm going to get my photos developed today Donald. Hope they come out.Lindsay should have hers too I think.

Henry my card arrived today thanks (another mantlepiece adorned). Your package arrived too Lee - and yes it really IS wicked!!! Watching Gerry I'd forgotten how similar he performs to a certain other guitarist. How did the series come about do you know?

My photos are here! Some good ones of the band in Cork and some other very interesting ones too (eh, Dominic!). Unfortunately they've cut the negative badly of everyone at the end so half of us, including me, are missing so I'm going back tomorrow to complain and see if I can get both bits to stick together. A couple of dodgy ones in O'Briens in Dublin after midnight - the eyes tell the full story and some of us were finding it difficult to focus at this point, more especially the scottish contingent! Excellent shot of two stunning females modelling some lobster t-shirts though - can't think who they were;-) Will send to CMoS to scan and send some copies out when they come back. Look forward to seeing some others although not sure I want to see Derek's shot of us in front of the bus the following morning in Cork at some ungodly hour!

Vinny, the nearest cinema to me thats does 'Art' films is The Music Hall in Shrewsbury. It would be fantastic if the film could be put on there. Do you need the number and contact? Unfortunately I've left the name and number at work, but i'll put it on here on Monday if you like. Otherwise any cinema in Wolverhampton or Birmingham will do. Donald, not taken the film to be processed yet. Will do it next week for sure. Can't wait for our 'transport' photo's.

Forgot to say but heard Teenage kicks the other night on I love 1978. Donald, you can tell your son that that's when I also got my first skateboard and I've still got it.

I think I'll stay in bed all day on 4th of January next year. Last year on this date the company president from America graced us with a visit - sacked our managing director and announced his replacement. The stress was too much for the replacement who promptly had a heart attack the same day - not fatal fortunately. This year the president arrives, announces last years replacement wanted to wind down before retiring - sensible but no-one can understand why he came back for 6 months - and brings his successor. Quick meeting for 2 hours and he's gone - but the company plane crashes at B'ham airport and the 2 of them and the 3 air crew are dead. It's not a good day.

I still live in hope that the Tones will one day come back to Scotland. Even the film would be nice (Vinny - The Cameo in Edinburgh is another possibility). Vinny, A good independant cinema to go for in Birmingham is the Midland Arts Centre, Commonly known as the M.A.C, pretty much the same set up as Warwick Arts Centre, which I presume is the Warwick mentioned in your posting, Rather confusingly it is actually in Coventry. I have meant to ask you before but do you recieve any money when the film is screened at cinemas? I would like to think that you get some payment for the work that you have put into it. CMoS, I have the set list for Cork and the new songs are like so: 1)TOUCH(NEW RUSSIA)?? 2)WITH A GIRL LIKE YOU,3)OH PLEASE 4)ROUGH ESCALATOR.I did ask Paul(VTU) why it says 'New Russia' after 'Touch' and if memory serves he said its coz the song has a Russian sound to it so that was his way of remembering which song it was.

Lindsay, Hanx! You are very observant. Wish I could have joined all you nutters on your trip to see the boys. Concilation was seeing Hugh Cornwell playing a blinder in Edinburgh.
