The Undertones Nerve Centre gig at Christmas really brought back back old memories - what I`d like to know is - Is the Vinney that appears on this site the same Vinney O`Neill I interviewed in 1979 for my fanzine Positive Reaction? If it is, does he remember the Omagh gigs in 1980-81 where we actually met. Backstage, after the gig Mickey and Damien were stealing frozen chips and chickens from the freezers in the hotel kitchen and were filling their hold-alls with other goodies!! Jackie on 10:32 4th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11752 Nice one Vinny- something to cheer me up as I cant make Ocean. We definately need a north of England SATURDAY NIGHT gig (anyone out there listening?) I'm going to get my photos developed today Donald. Hope they come out.Lindsay should have hers too I think. Vinny on 12:10 4th-Jan-02 GMT #d12-11753 Ernie: No, I'm Vinny Cunningham. You're talking about the famous Vinny O'Neill, Brother of Damian and John. You should send the article to the site here. Good Luck. Vinny on 12:11 4th-Jan-02 GMT #d12-11754 George: Yes, the BBC mention digital in their contract for the short version but they never seem to take this option. Ernie on 14:42 4th-Jan-02 GMT #328-11755 That article and many other reviews I done for Hot Press is long gone. Great to see the site is so active. Any interesting Undertones MP3 material doing the rounds? Do contact me ! Lindsay on 18:08 4th-Jan-02 GMT #5ce-11756 Vinny - where in Sheffield were you looking at? Lindsay on 18:09 4th-Jan-02 GMT #5ce-11757 Henry my card arrived today thanks (another mantlepiece adorned). Your package arrived too Lee - and yes it really IS wicked!!! Watching Gerry I'd forgotten how similar he performs to a certain other guitarist. How did the series come about do you know? Lindsay on 18:19 4th-Jan-02 GMT #5ce-11758 My photos are here! Some good ones of the band in Cork and some other very interesting ones too (eh, Dominic!). Unfortunately they've cut the negative badly of everyone at the end so half of us, including me, are missing so I'm going back tomorrow to complain and see if I can get both bits to stick together. A couple of dodgy ones in O'Briens in Dublin after midnight - the eyes tell the full story and some of us were finding it difficult to focus at this point, more especially the scottish contingent! Excellent shot of two stunning females modelling some lobster t-shirts though - can't think who they were;-) Will send to CMoS to scan and send some copies out when they come back. Look forward to seeing some others although not sure I want to see Derek's shot of us in front of the bus the following morning in Cork at some ungodly hour! Ernie on 19:05 4th-Jan-02 GMT #cb8-11759 I`ve got photos and set list from Nerve Centre show, they`re not bad considering the lack of stage lighting. Cliff on 19:44 4th-Jan-02 GMT #5bc-11760 Two stunning females wearing Lobster t-shirts??!! bloody hell, how come nobody else saw them? Ernie, can you send the pics of Nerve Centre gig in? Derek on 20:32 4th-Jan-02 GMT #12c-11761 Vinny, the nearest cinema to me thats does 'Art' films is The Music Hall in Shrewsbury. It would be fantastic if the film could be put on there. Do you need the number and contact? Unfortunately I've left the name and number at work, but i'll put it on here on Monday if you like. Otherwise any cinema in Wolverhampton or Birmingham will do. Donald, not taken the film to be processed yet. Will do it next week for sure. Can't wait for our 'transport' photo's. Derek on 20:37 4th-Jan-02 GMT #12c-11762 Forgot to say but heard Teenage kicks the other night on I love 1978. Donald, you can tell your son that that's when I also got my first skateboard and I've still got it. Lee on 20:47 4th-Jan-02 GMT #fbe-11763 I think I'll stay in bed all day on 4th of January next year. Last year on this date the company president from America graced us with a visit - sacked our managing director and announced his replacement. The stress was too much for the replacement who promptly had a heart attack the same day - not fatal fortunately. This year the president arrives, announces last years replacement wanted to wind down before retiring - sensible but no-one can understand why he came back for 6 months - and brings his successor. Quick meeting for 2 hours and he's gone - but the company plane crashes at B'ham airport and the 2 of them and the 3 air crew are dead. It's not a good day. doninblack on 21:11 4th-Jan-02 GMT #2c8-11764 Blianadh mhath ur (which could be translated as something like Hope your head isn't still splitting) to all you Rocking Humdingers out there! I still live in hope that the Tones will one day come back to Scotland. Even the film would be nice (Vinny - The Cameo in Edinburgh is another possibility). A special hello to Ernie B (as an ex-Positive Reaction subscriber). Hope you all have a great year and keep playing those toons! Cheers. donald on 21:29 4th-Jan-02 GMT #e46-11765 Saw the air crash on the news Lee -nightmare (dont go for promotion next year).Doninblack welcome b(l)ack and the Cameo is certainly another good option. Vinny the phone nos for both cinemas are- Cameo cinema is 044(0)131 228 2800, Filmhouse 044 (0)131 228 2688. Look forward to pics but not the 9am ones in Cork the morning after. dominic on 22:29 4th-Jan-02 GMT #c86-11766 Lindsay - it wasn't me! Lindsay on 23:06 4th-Jan-02 GMT #ade-11767 I have a feeling Cliff will regret making that comment the next time he meets the two lobster models. Lee that's terrible news - I am sorry. Hello Doninpreviouslyblackbutnowinwhite. What 9am pics Donald?!! You hadn't even surfaced by that time. Steve on 23:17 4th-Jan-02 GMT #96d-11768 Vinny, A good independant cinema to go for in Birmingham is the Midland Arts Centre, Commonly known as the M.A.C, pretty much the same set up as Warwick Arts Centre, which I presume is the Warwick mentioned in your posting, Rather confusingly it is actually in Coventry. I have meant to ask you before but do you recieve any money when the film is screened at cinemas? I would like to think that you get some payment for the work that you have put into it. Lee, what disturbing news, next year head for a fallout shelter. O.k as it is the beginning of a New Year what was everybodys top 3 LP's of lasr year? Mine were Joe Henry:Scar, O Brother where art thou? Soundtrack, Sparklehorse: It's awonderful life. Top 3 gigs Ciaran and Ray from the Petrols in Nottingham, Waterboys at the Fleadh, Television at the Empire in London (Where I stood right next to Damien O'Neill!). Vinny O'Neill star of Mastermind, Subject the Films of Clint Eastwood! CMoS on 23:41 4th-Jan-02 GMT #2ca-11769 C'mon were not doing very well with the new songs search - just the one by name - if I had a Tone Phone number I'd be ringing it for the details. Cliff on 00:14 5th-Jan-02 GMT #74a-11770 CMoS, I have the set list for Cork and the new songs are like so: 1)TOUCH(NEW RUSSIA)?? 2)WITH A GIRL LIKE YOU,3)OH PLEASE 4)ROUGH ESCALATOR.I did ask Paul(VTU) why it says 'New Russia' after 'Touch' and if memory serves he said its coz the song has a Russian sound to it so that was his way of remembering which song it was. Cliff on 00:23 5th-Jan-02 GMT #74a-11771 What did you think of the new songs CMoS? Cliff on 00:24 5th-Jan-02 GMT #74a-11772 Big game in the morning George.I dont fancy it; 3-0 to Sunderland. doninblack on 00:56 5th-Jan-02 GMT #c18-11773 Lindsay, Hanx! You are very observant. Wish I could have joined all you nutters on your trip to see the boys. Concilation was seeing Hugh Cornwell playing a blinder in Edinburgh. (Am I allowed to plug Hugh's website hughcornwell.com and particularly his last two albums Guilty and HiFi which are both fantastic? Probably not). U Might Like 'em. Cheers to you all. Ernie on 01:58 5th-Jan-02 GMT #cfd-11774 Cliff, I`m new to this BB. Where do I send the photos of Nerve Centre to? Mail me at tmcgartland@btinternet.com
