Cliffy - nicely spread to boost your posting tally. Goalhanging really. Cliff on 09:46 7th-Jan-02 GMT #d09-11838 CMoS, 'goalhanging'?? I'm impressed you know what that means.Come on admit it,you're a Brighton season ticket holder. Le Eminence Noir on 10:26 7th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-11839 Suggested new Album titles : 'Middle-aged Kicks', 'My Balding Cousin', 'You've Got My Pension Book (Why Don't You Stamp It)', 'Male Menopause', 'Forties Need The Money Now' or my favourite 'Its Already Happened'. Rick on 10:29 7th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-11840 Suggested new album titles : 'Middle-aged Kicks', 'My Balding Cousin', 'You've Got My Pension Book (Why Don't You Stamp It)', 'Male Menopause', 'Forties Need The Money Now', or my favourite 'It's Already Happened'. George on 11:55 7th-Jan-02 GMT #687-11841 Very funny Rick. But since the christmas no. 1 was a song previously released in 1967 and its only serious rival was a song sung by someone over 50, at least the charts aren't ageist. A good song is a good song, inspite of its age or the performer. Hopefully we will persuade you to add at least another concert to the 600 plus you've previously attended if only to hear the new songs so you can decide whether it is worth paying the money for the CD. George on 11:58 7th-Jan-02 GMT #687-11842 They can't name it My Balding Cousin otherwise Donald might think it is dedicated solely to him. Apologies Donald! Lee on 12:46 7th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-11843 I phoned Ocean a week ago and they confirmed Hackney was postponed. They thought March - which I posted here just before the rumours about March 17th filtered through. Can't think why it's still on the web-site though. If anyone phones to check please let us all know because I'm assuming it's off and just can't miss another gig. Lee on 12:49 7th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-11844 Re the later singles - not a great fan of Beautiful Friend and when Peter Powell kept raving about how the band were 'maturing' with every release I knew the end was nigh. I didn't feel that was the single to start raving about. The others were good enough from Sin of Pride. I've said many times I like that album but now I've heard the tracks that weren't on it it could have been better. Why were those tracks missed off anyway ? Lee on 12:53 7th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-11845 Favourite albums of 2001 - hmmm. I think I'd have to agree with Julius that the Moondogs demo's would be up there as my favourites. There were 3 on the web-site and I've been sent 6 others so that's almost an album's worth. I got a pretty good Ian McNabb album for Christmas (Live at Life) which would be a contender. Can I count all 4 Undertones albums as during 2001 I received them all on cd for the first time. So, that's my Top 6 ! Rick on 15:37 7th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-11846 Favourite albums of 2001 : The Moondogs album which finally turned up on vinyl 20 years after it was issued as a German only release, 'The In Crowd' 4 CD box set of classic 60s mod anthems and the anniversary remastered reissues with extra tracks of T.Rex's 'Electric Warrior', George's 'All Things Must Pass' and Paul's 'Band on the Run'. Jackie on 17:34 7th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11847 AAAAAaaargh! That was a scream of pleasure- as there's never an album without a tour (usually!) Jackie on 18:50 7th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11848 Fave Cds of 2001 the Strokes (so good looking!) Macy Gray (just class) and thats it really-music of the moment sucks!Or maybe I didnt hear the best stuff. Cliff on 20:21 7th-Jan-02 GMT #09b-11849 Rick, why did you leave a message under a different name and then change your mind? Why do you have such a problem with age? and what is your hang up about making money? The funny thing about your comments is that you WILL listen to the new stuff when its available and you'll probably like it.Are people over 40 not supposed to make new songs and therefore be rewarded if people actually like it? ('you've got my pension book why dont you stamp it' was quite funny though ;-)) Derek on 20:29 7th-Jan-02 GMT #12c-11850 Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab!Fab! And if anyones in any doubt FAB! What fantastic news. Wonder if they'll do a peel session like they used to do before they released an album. Like you Cliff I've been buzzing today with the news. I'm still as high as a kite. Derek on 20:38 7th-Jan-02 GMT #12c-11851 I also found your comments unfunny Rick. They are not reflective of the musical content but are based on your predjudicial stereotypical views of age. I think if we all thought your way we would be all compulsory put down at the age of 35 (as in the film and TV series that I can't remember the name of). Must be my age! Dominic on 21:37 7th-Jan-02 GMT #9a4-11853 Is that next year (as in 2003) or next year as in this year? I don't know if I can wait that long. By the way my mother has dug out an old Positive Touch tour t shirt. Apparantly it used to fit me!!. White with the pink bits from the album cover on it. As I'm now a fat git, and will never fit into it again, I'm open to offers - any one interested? And I think that Hypnotised is the best album from the boys - half way between the raw energy of the first album and teh sophistication of the later work, but basically crammed full of sublime tunes - More songs about chocolate & girls - what a atart, what a tune, what a riff, what an album!! My wife thinks I've turned into a Undertones anorak, I'd have to be a Parka then!!! Lindsay on 22:18 7th-Jan-02 GMT #d15-11854 Sounds a bit like Cinderella this Dominic - whosoever the shirt fits, gets to keep it. Don't want to prejudge the outcome but I think it's fair to say I'm in with a pretty good chance on this one! The unlucky ones who try as they might but can't get their beer bellies into it get an anorak instead. Lindsay on 22:19 7th-Jan-02 GMT #d15-11855 I'm afraid to say I laughed at Rick's album titles - probably because after 18 months I don't take anything he says too seriously anymore. Even if he had remained anonymous we'd only have needed to ask ourselves who's this stirring things up and the answer would have been immediately obvious! Lindsay on 22:22 7th-Jan-02 GMT #d15-11856 What's happened to the screen?? Must be CMoS showing off his 19 inch one again!! Lindsay on 22:34 7th-Jan-02 GMT #d15-11857 Actually I've just realised it's not CMoS's fault at all, it's just Derek getting overexcited with his Fabs! whilst forgetting to pause for breath! Correction, no it's not even that - it has to be the Undertones fault for causing mass hysteria on the website with news of a new album. Pete The Lurker on 22:50 7th-Jan-02 GMT #cbd-11858 A little bit late Santa, but yes I do believe in you. Can't wait for the new album. The samples bit sounds good, an update to a classic sound that will kick all the pretenders into touch. Roll on the rearranged Hackney date. George on 23:00 7th-Jan-02 GMT #815-11859 The most played record I've bought in recent weeks was a Billy Fury Cd which I bought for my mam. Since she doesn't have a CD I taped it for her and kept the CD. Most of the other records I bought other than possibly Damians' are re-issue/compilations. I have just ordered a copy of Moondogs LP 'That's what friends are for' of E-Bay. Jackie on 23:14 7th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11860 Oh yes number three on my list- A Quiet Revolution by D O'Neill, actually I've never got past track 4 (sorry!!)Ricks comments made me laugh too. I'm fighting you for the tshirt Lindsay though after all the beer in Dublin maybe not. David sent his friend a text message from Dublin and the reply was 'Nothing better than chocolate and girls' I thought this was an excellent reply but made me wonder what the text said! Sorry I'm a bit disjointed tonight- its euphoria.... Cliff on 23:16 7th-Jan-02 GMT #b9e-11861 I agree Lindsay.Ricks titles taken at face value were quite funny but its the meaning behind them.'Forties Need the money now' in particular is spiteful and nasty. It simply tars any band that reform and are over a certain age with the same brush. It gives the band themselves absolutely no credit for having common sense and doing things the right way as the Undertones have always tried to do.The Undertones are not a bunch of desperate has-been piss heads wanting to re-live the past coz they're desperate for money and attention.Fortunately the overwhelming majority of people on here (and at gigs)are aware of that. Cliff on 23:34 7th-Jan-02 GMT #b9e-11862 I think I'd fit into that t-shirt now Dominic.I am seriously interested, but why did you buy the pink version rather than the grey? Cliff on 23:55 7th-Jan-02 GMT #391-11863 I actually believe the comment regarding a new album being 'next year' probably means this year,2002.Chances are the interview took place somewhere between Xmas and the new year.
