Musings
My album titles WERE meant as a joke. Thankfully the ladies on this site can tell I'm not seriously having a go at my favourite band. I wasn't trying to be spiteful but just tried to twist a few Undertones titles for a laugh (honest Cliff). I don't mind if the band do a Rolling Stones and carry on until they drop as long as they and the fans get something out of it. Can you detect a new mood from me for 2002 ? Wonder if it will last ? p2 on 09:43 8th-Jan-02 GMT #08b-11866 Not to mention the Undertones forthcoming re-release in 2020: 'Here comes the Zimmer'. Happy New Year Rick on 12:08 8th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-11867 Very good p2. Anyone got any more ? How about 'Sigh and Expire', 'There Goes Terylene' or 'Billy's Last'. Rick on 12:08 8th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-11868 That should have been 'Whats with Terylene?' of course. Lee on 12:46 8th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-11869 I didn't take Rick's comments too seriously. Anyway it's good to have a diverse set of opinions. It wouldn't be very interesting on here if we all just agreed with everything for the sake of it - we all have 1 underlying connection but that doesn't mean you are all wrong (even though you are !) for not being disappointed by Hypnotised and The Positive Touch and not rating the Sin of Pride much higher. Lee on 12:49 8th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-11870 Just went on to the Ticketmaster web site as I can't get through to Ocean on the phone. Hackney is still listed on the web-site but it says tickets are currently not on sale. Derek @ on 19:10 8th-Jan-02 GMT #cbd-11871 Photos are at boots. I've got them put on cd so if any one ones a set please e-mail me. Should have them back tommorrow. Of course I'll send a copy to CMoS if I can work the technology out. ian constable on 19:37 8th-Jan-02 GMT #01e-11873 thanks for the e-mail lindsey.....superb ! i too laughed at ricks comments and as i'm only a very irregular contributor, didn't take them that he meant any malice (although i can understand how some people did, as he has sturred up a few hornets nests in the past). anyway, i see top 3 albums of last year are being voted for ........hmmm......in no particular order; 1. David Gray - White Ladder ( i know it came out a couple of years ago but i only got it last year and have played it many many times since) 2. Ryan Adams - Gold (very Rolling Stones in places) 3. Ash - Free All Angels (no useful comment here apart from the fact they remind me occasionally of a certain band of whom we are all fond). i've suprised myself here, Not a very 'punky' list for an ageing punk/new waver like me. funny how your tastes change over the years isn't it ? Dominic @ on 20:20 8th-Jan-02 GMT #a46-11874 Ok first to email me their address gets the t shirt. I might even wash it! I bought the pink one Cliff........... hell I can't remember!! Jackie on 20:34 8th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11875 Was it me???? Dominic on 21:15 8th-Jan-02 GMT #4da-11876 No takers yet! Julius on 21:36 8th-Jan-02 GMT #33c-11877 This is really great news about the Undertones, the more gigs , the more chance I will finally attend one....And new releases will be an absolute highlight, I really look forward. Age does not say a thing in today's popbiz: In England charts are dominated by old people or old songs(your xmas no.1 was one of the worst no.1's ever...); In Holland it is not better: here charts are dominated with groups targeting the 3-6 years agegroup. We badly need good songs in the charts, like The Undertones or Moondogs. Just look at Jools Holland and you see that age does not matter, 20 years ago the people who were 40 at that time had not grown up with popmusic so in 1980 popmusic was an exclusive youththing, we did from an early age grow up to like popmusic and will continue so that is why the musicians age with us and will write songs like :'Here comes the winter(of our lives)' Jackie on 22:11 8th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11878 Hello Julius- my husband speaks to a lot of Dutch people through his work so I know how to say hello or good day something that sounds like 'Hooder mayer'-sorry I dont know how to spell it! I missed you at Dublin cos we didnt have our competition to get to the front first- even though I was late and arrived after the band came on stage I still made the very fron in under half a song (from the back) You would have been well beaten!Perhaps we can have our little competition at another gig now! Pete the lurker on 22:44 8th-Jan-02 GMT #71b-11880 Just been browsing through the old links at the top, and it said that the band had recorded the old songs with Paul. What are the chances then that the next album is a hybrid, or is it going to be all new. Anyone in the know? Cliff? Dave? Billy DTU? George on 23:02 8th-Jan-02 GMT #b94-11881 More album suggestions following the lead set by Rick could be - Let's Reminisce about girls, Listening In with a hearing aid, she's a walk around, I vaguely remember a girl, OAPs don't like it. I will have to limit my attempt to tracks from the first CD cos' that is the one nearest to me. Heard my mam singing 'Jimmy Jimmy' today. It's only taken 20 odd years. Jackie on 23:07 8th-Jan-02 GMT #455-11882 Nice one George I like yours even better! How about Midlife Crisis of Mine? George on 23:32 8th-Jan-02 GMT #b94-11883 What was I going to tell Mary - just for the Moondogs fans, otherwise turning blue and wrinkly, kiss in the dark (cos you're not as attractive as you were twenty years ago when I first kissed you), 6 foot under the boardwalk Cliff on 23:41 8th-Jan-02 GMT #95c-11884 Hi Pete, good result for Luton tonight.I think including a few old classics with Paul singing would be a great idea. For example,10 new songs with 4 old ones. Cliff on 23:59 8th-Jan-02 GMT #95c-11885 No, I'm sorry but I'm still convinced my mate Rick was(cunningly) having a dig.'My Balding Cousin'..funny, 'you got my pension book...' even funnier, but these were simply a cover for his real satanic message.'Forties need the money now' and 'Its already happened' were mischevous and they have a far deeper meaning. Also Rick rhymes with Nick. Cliff on 00:05 9th-Jan-02 GMT #95c-11886 How about 'Old boy wonder', 'Unconscious' or 'Got a hairy back'?.But seriously, I think any new album should be called 'Paul McLoone and the young generation'
