It would be easy to take offence to George's comments. However, Donkeys are renowned for being strong, calm, intelligent, lovable, gentle, comical (l)asses (and I suppose I have always been a bit of a clotheshorse!). PS. How many donkeys have 3 legs? They all do! (did I say comical?!)

I disagree with Donald re. the album, yes I think it should be new songs (12 tracks) but with bonus tracks (live?) with Paul of TK, YGMN & GOY. If the new songs were in a completely different style to the old ones I probably wouldn't say this but the new ones didn't sound out of place to me alongside the others. Most youngsters I've talked to about the band remark about TK and it's often the only record they know (by the way it's 32 in a poll in this month's I think it was Q mag for most memorable singles or something). The song's as relevant to them today as it was to us 20 years ago. Even my 20 year old colleague said she liked it when I played it to her (her religion doesn't allow her to lie!). Who are we to deny a new audience a taster of the classic work the band produced then and if it makes them want to go out and buy the originals that can only be a good thing.

When I first heard about the reunion I wasn't sure. When I first heard about new songs I wasn't sure. Now I can't wait to hear them. From your reactions they are obviously up to scratch. I had the same feelings about the Moondogs but now can't stop playing their new stuff. A new album by the summer followed by a live album for Christmas sounds good to me.

I never thought for a second that the old versions could be bettered - but different versions with a different singer are still worth a listen - just like I enjoyed listening to the cover version album.

George- just cos your posting tally is under threat dont call me a blabber mouth! I seem to remember I had to say bye 25 times on the phone on Sunday! I got my photos today, sadly not as brill as I'd hoped. Paul has serious red eye and Damian is just red! But there's a good one of ligger#1 Cliff trying to blag his way in through the stage door, and two girlies with good taste t shirts. And not a donkey in sight.

This time last year would any of us thought a new album was possible? I believe they are doing it because of the people here and the people who went to the gigs and refuse to believe they are a spent force, as they proved without doubt to me in Dublin. Let's leave it in the hands of the boys, they've not let me down so far. We've all waited a long time to feel the excitement of a first play of a new album. Enjoy when it comes!!
