Steve, yes that`s right. You`ll also find that I got a mention in the sleeve of `The Best of The Undertones Teenage Kicks` compilation. When Terri Hooley introduced me to John Peel in 1979 Peel remarked 'The Legendary Ernie Badness' How embarassing!! Anyway, I`m trying to convince the publisher of the Buzzcocks book to consider The Undertones.

That would be great Ernie. You must be aware then of the 'spoof' book by 'Lesley Wesley' mentioned in the notes on that compilation?.Some of us on here searched high and low for that book!! Imagine the conversation in ther book shops 'Yes I know Lesley Wesley is a funny name but please look it up for me anyway!'.

I wonder if the Undertones new stuff will be sold on CD at future gigs?

Steve on 10:43 13th-Jan-02 GMT #397-11962
Ernie....It would be good if you could get the publishers to do an undertones book...Would you do it in the same style as the Buzzcocks book? What did you think to the last Buzzcocks LP 'Modern', it took me ages to get into, but I love it now, miles better than the dissapointment that was 'All Set'. Personally I'm looking forward to the Devoto/Shelley reunion that is the Buzzkunst. Only a few weeks to go until the CD is released!

Hi Y'All. Just back from a week in Tenerife where unbelievably I met Daniel O'Donnell in a supermarket. I've read about half the listings and thought Rick's comments were funny. I mean you've got to be able to laugh at yourself. I think the news of a new album sounds positive, as songwriting talent such as exists in the band should have an outlet. It would probably be better for the band and us if they kept it the way it's going. Keep the jobs, enjoy the gigs and write songs as I believe that The Undertones strengths have always been that they're based in reality. A commercial fact also is that people are not buying records in any of the numbers that they did previously. Although they fear that they might be criticised, I suspect that any new release from the band might be overlookeed by the media etc.

Steve, maybe I could tempt you with the demos for `All Set` which were actually better than the album. Shelley gave me a few tapes of demos that they done in London for `All Set` and also the demos that EMI finally rejected and kicked them off the label in the US. I can trade for Undertones/Moondogs recordings??

Steve @ on 15:13 13th-Jan-02 GMT #611-11965
Ernie, very tempted indeed. Have'nt got anything in the way of Undertones or Moondogs to trade unfortunately, is their anything else you are intrested in?

wilke @ on 20:17 13th-Jan-02 GMT #363-11966

Wilke, I have already sent Steve a private email informing him that I will be sending him a CDR of those demos (and more) as soon as I get them transferred from minidisc to my computer! In the meantime, can you put the album on CDR or minidisc?

I love this review of SOP and the later Undertones stuff in general.....'But, like 'Positive Touch,' it was brilliant. The Undertones had turned from perpetual adolescents into mature, world-class artists, and their audience couldn't keep up with them. When they gigged to support 'The Sin Of Pride,' the crowds still shouted for 'Teenage Kicks' and 'Mars Bars,' and hissed the new material. And the boys decided to pack it in. Seldom has so much been offered and so little returned'.

Cliff on 21:42 13th-Jan-02 GMT #96b-11970
I don't remember the later stuff being hissed at gigs, it never happened when I saw them.I do remember the shouting for earlier songs though particularly 'Jimmy Jimmy'.I used to think 'shup up and listen for f**k sake!!' (although I also wanted to hear JJ!).
