Damn ! Just searched ebay and there was an Undertones box set of 12 CD singles going for £13. Thought I'd make a bid but by the time I'd registered the bidding was over. It was being sold by someone in Leeds.

Lee on 12:58 17th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-12035
Again on ebay there is a Good Vibrations Teenage Kicks up for $30. What's the going rate for this - not that I'd sell it ! Anyone know ?

Cliff on 15:58 17th-Jan-02 GMT #66b-12036
Lindsay, shame on you!! I was in the local shops today and there was the original 1st album which, would you believe, I've never owned.Complete with red inner sleeve for £8 what else could I do?

Alas Cliff i'm likely to be in the studio when the LDV final takes place - & we still have the mighty Cambridge Utd to overcome first anyway. Dunno what you mean about Cardiff though. Such friendly folk :o) Thanks for the suggestions Donald, we'll almost definitely use one of those ;o)

Cliff I had a similar experience on Saturday during 100 Greatest Sporting Moments on CH4- a boy I went to school with was doing the between clip comments and wise cracks- billed as a 'comedian'. Bizarre (he was never that funny!)

Jackie on 19:47 17th-Jan-02 GMT #455-12041
Dolly Mixtures were a great band. I always used to envy their hip image as I was definately a (female) Undertone fashion clone instead!!Lets Talk about Girl groups for awhile. One of my faves was 'Girls at Our Best!' (but they had blokes in the band,) the Mo-dettes, Young Marble Giants (they wern't a girl band either but Alison Statton was just excellent)Wasn't music so much better then... and isnt the generation gap awful??

Cactus on 21:31 17th-Jan-02 GMT #514-12042
Absolutely the best girl band ever were the Gymslips. I had the name tattooed on myself along with the Undertones, so they must have been good! They never sold many records but I did once see them when they were being supported by the Pogues, so that must mean something. They split up in 1983 too, a very bad year really. Two postings in a week, wow.

wilke @ on 21:50 17th-Jan-02 GMT #37f-12043
hi went to the doctors today came back with my leg bandage from top to bottom so maureen [my better half???] has put a pogoing ban on me so next time i go to see the tones no pogoing i think not how could you to the tones and not pogo

Jackie on 22:03 17th-Jan-02 GMT #455-12044
Must have been all that bopping in O'Briens wilke-pogoing is good for the legs

Steve on 22:37 17th-Jan-02 GMT #611-12045
Jackie....Disagree about music being so much better back then....I have said it a few times on here before (Have'nt I Rick!) that it is just a matter of knowing where to look these days. Their is a load of good artists out there still making good music. 2 artists I have been bowled over with recently are Nicolia Dunger (One for all you lovers of Van the Man's Astral Weeks.) and Richard Thompson's Son Teddy Thompson.oh and one more the beautiful angelic voice of Cara Dillon. I think Nostalgia kicks in when you think back to your youth, rose coloured glasses ect......

Steve on 22:41 17th-Jan-02 GMT #611-12046
Ciaran And Ray from the petrol's are playing a couple of gigs in Feb. One is in Nottingham and the other Cambridge. Well worth going to see if you get the chance. I'm definitely going to the Nottingham gig. The support band Clambake are excellent....Forget your Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and White Stripes.......This Duo really KICK ASS!

Vinny on 23:12 17th-Jan-02 GMT #d12-12047
DERRY CITY 6 MONAGHAN UTD 1, in case anyone is remotely interested............

Julius on 23:24 17th-Jan-02 GMT #98f-12048
Great to see those memories about the Young Marble Giants, don't forget The Shop Assistants, great female band(male drummer though), they were around in 86 or so. There are good bands today, but I've got the feeling, the general standard was better 22 years ago, but that probably all has got to do with my age....I am afraid. Great new bands? NPB from Ireland are great band. Yesterday I heard a great new scottish band called Lo..Historical Society or something like that, forgot part of the name. Talking about TV-meetings: I was amazed to see a ex-girlfriend of mine presenting a programme on house-decorating the other day. You are watching telly, because your wife does but actually reading the paper, but suddenly you hear her name mentioned, you think:'ehhh',you get alert, than you hear a familiar voice. Very strange experience. She still looked good, by the way

Cliff on 23:47 17th-Jan-02 GMT #e29-12049
Interesting Vinny...who scored for Monaghan?

Cliff on 23:48 17th-Jan-02 GMT #e29-12050
Talking of girl bands who were that bunch who showed their, ehm, private bits on the 'tube'?

Cliff on 23:50 17th-Jan-02 GMT #e29-12051
Alison Moyet used to play regularly in her punk band in Southend(mid 70's).They were called the Screaming Abdabs.
