Vinny..have you got the date(s) for the Warwick Arts Centre Screening?

Rick on 08:53 24th-Jan-02 GMT #c16-12225
Cliff don't you think E17's Brian Harvey's 12 ecstasy pills a night comments in the mid-90's and recent hatchet in the head attack prove he's a bit more interesting than 'wooly jumpered, bar stool crooning, line dancing, bring them home to meet Mum' members of most boybands. He's also the sexiest of course. Dollar are good because of Trevor Horns production of the songs not because of David Van Day & Therese Bazaar. I don't normally disagree with Julius but you shouldn't buy McClarens bullshit that he 'created' the Pistols. As John Lydon said - 'no-one can create/manipulate ME.' Jackie - I agree about that bit at the end of '9 Times out of 10' where the guitars speed up. I always wished that the song didn't fade out at that point as it sounds so amazing I wanted to hear more.

Arthur on 09:08 24th-Jan-02 GMT #29f-12226
Weren't the Undertones a boy band? I mean when they released Teenage Kicks they were still teenagers. Julius, Firestation Tower Records have a compilation out that features a band I was in.

George on 10:17 24th-Jan-02 GMT #0f0-12227
But as Damian always point out they were a boy band who were followed usually by boys, with the exception of Jackie, Lindsay and one or two others. John was no longer a teenager when Teenage Kicks came out and Billy and Feargal must have been weeks away from being 20. A punk band must have had more status/street cred back then than most of the boxes the press try to pigeonhole groups into since. That is possibly why many middle of the road bands tried to gain a punk audience before rapidly reverting to norm. What is the name of the Band Arthur that we should be looking out for on Firestation Tower records.

Vinny on 12:41 24th-Jan-02 GMT #f92-12230
Mark and anyone else: We will be putting dates on the site in the next few days that will confirm at least 14 (!!!) screenings in Belfast, England and Scotland. Arthur and I are confirming things as I write...............These will include Newcastle, Edinburgh,Bristol, Coventry,Brighton, York, Sheffield and hopefully more?

Lee on 13:00 24th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-12231
Wilke - I had a tape of the Infected album by The The but have managed to lose it somewhere over the years. That was pretty good I recall. If I find it I will let you know. I am sure someone else will have something by them. I heard a story a year or so ago that the main man whose name escapes me was a bit of an extremist and when he made his last album he didn't want his record company to charge for it - even my dislike of the amounts record companies make over artists cannot justify this one. Hardly surprisingly they wouldn't agree to this so he just put it all out over the net free of charge.

Lee on 13:02 24th-Jan-02 GMT #fb0-12232
Just remembered the guy's name - Matt Johnson. And also just recalled he had Johnny Marr in The The for a while. What's he up to these days ? Anyone know ?

peter hornberg @ on 18:18 24th-Jan-02 GMT #bd0-12233
just saw the film teenage kicks at the rotterdam filmfestival, just awesome!! and now i want to see the band LIVE no matter where!

Vinny on 13:12 24th-Jan-02 GMT #f92-12234
WILKE: I have several records(now there's an old word!) by THE THE, give me a call and I'll get them copied. Great band. A CAST OF 1,000s in Derry used to do a brilliant cover of UNCERTAIN SMILE.............

Sean @ on 18:18 24th-Jan-02 GMT #3cb-12235
I remember Matt Johnson of THE THE being interviewed and saying stuff like “people moan about the price of CDs but with all the emotion and effort I put into my records, people should pay more”...right then!! UNCERTAIN SMILE has a brilliant piano bit. Johnny Marr has to be up there with John and Damian as far as guitar heroes go...these days he has his own band and always seems to be wearing his coat on stage!

Lindsay on 15:07 24th-Jan-02 GMT #a23-12236
Exciting news Vinny - what more could we ask, the film right on our own doorsteps (well for a few of us anyway). Now you've got me thinking whereabouts in York - The Arts Centre possibly or The Barbican??

Lindsay on 15:17 24th-Jan-02 GMT #a23-12237
Now I've lost total faith in the charts. I've just heard Enrique bloody Inglesias is beating A1's cracking song to the top slot this w/e with some lady-in-red soundalike, R2-promoted drivel. Apparently it was no.1 in America for 6 weeks (which says a lot about just how bad it is). Is there no hope for us.

Jackie on 16:06 24th-Jan-02 GMT #bc5-12239
Donald- I think I mentioned on here I saw the Jackass you are talking about-the one where they skateboard off the high diving board to the sound of Teenage Kicks!! It is also one of our favourite shows. And Bam Margera is gorgeous! (You should watch this show Rick)Glad I'm not the only Dollar fan in the universe.Anybody like Gomez? And what are they doing at the moment?

Jackie on 16:18 24th-Jan-02 GMT #bc5-12240
George, I know the majority of the audience at gigs were blokes but there was a fair amount of girls, (check out the list of Rocking Humdingers members!)Also lots of couples I recall. It used to annoy me that people just went to see them for a night out, and didnt care who they saw- but now I realise this was not so bad as it meant a wider audience for the band.

Vinny on 17:25 24th-Jan-02 GMT #31e-12241
Lindsay: CITYSCREEN, YORK ?? Know it?

wilke @ on 18:17 24th-Jan-02 GMT #f66-12242

Jackie....I like Gomez, I was blown away when they first appeared on Later....How can a band so young sound like that???? As for what they are up to now....Well if you click on the link you can go to what is going to be their new web site and sign up to the mailing list.....Me thinks there will be some News fairly soon!!!

Jackie on 19:13 24th-Jan-02 GMT #455-12245
Ahh thats better. Thats what I like about this site-instant gratification!!

Julius on 21:05 24th-Jan-02 GMT #4a7-12246
welcome peter, an other Dutchmen on this site! Just follow this page and you know where they will play. If Enrique really will hit the no.1 spot, TOTP should be braodcast without the last 5 minutes, a top 40 without a no.1 for one week, It is a horrible record.

Julius @ on 21:10 24th-Jan-02 GMT #4a7-12247
If anyone is still looking for some old 77 stuff, I was ordered to a recordshop near my work, which is normally dance-orientated, but this guy has bough a huge collection of punk &wave from 77-82, most in perfect state. Prices should be fair so if anyone is missing any LP from that era, just let me know.... PS: Sorry but I already got myself the 12-inch of Love Parade with Live B-sides out for a mere 5 Euro out of this stock

Lee on 21:10 24th-Jan-02 GMT #fbe-12248
Just had an email from ticketmaster. It says - Unfortunately we still have no news about whether the postponed Undertones concert has been rescheduled or cancelled. Please rest assured that we will be in contact as soon as we have some information.

Julius on 21:21 24th-Jan-02 GMT #4a7-12249
Arthur, firestation have 4 compilations out. Which one are you on? By the way,One has the fantastic name: 'you thought it was the end of the world when the rain ruined your hair'.

wilke @ on 22:00 24th-Jan-02 GMT #297-12250

Jackie on 22:18 24th-Jan-02 GMT #455-12252
Wilke-the weekend is getting off to a great start as the Scots amongst us (and those close enough to the border who feel Scottish)will be celebrating Burns Night tomorrow...great excuse for a party, though don't worry Donald we do take it serious with the full Burns bit over the Haggis etc.Not that I eat any of it of course. But do manage to down several Tennants extras.

AlexD on 23:05 24th-Jan-02 GMT #a1f-12253
Great news about the film Vinny any chance of a wee hint as to where in Scotia!! Jackie you should go the full Bhoona and try Tennents Super for that unforgettable Burns night experience. You may end up in Burns, though Casualty is more likely!

donald on 23:19 24th-Jan-02 GMT #e46-12254
Great news about the film Vinny especially the Edinburgh bit. Edinburgh welcomes humdinger weegies anyway Alex especially if they have purple tins on them. You see Jackie the only real Tennants comes in a purple tin.Julius good buy on the LOve parade 12inch. The live version of Your Welcome is even better than the album version.

doninblack on 00:14 25th-Jan-02 GMT #c5d-12255
Donald - see you at the Edinburgh film showing - whenever and wherever it may be. Can't wait! Will be in touch when details are posted.

AlexD on 00:25 25th-Jan-02 GMT #897-12256
I obviously missed something(usual) where is it being shown donald?

AlexD on 00:34 25th-Jan-02 GMT #897-12257
Sorry just seen that bit!! Got too excited when it said Scotland. Where you from Donald, I thought you were from Killie!
