Just returned from Blackpool. God us Northerners have to be hardy. Vinny, York Cityscreen is in a fantastic location, right in the centre overlooking the river. Shows a lot of independent films as well as the usual - apparently, as I've only ever been in the bar/cafe! Any clues as to location in Sheffield? Nice to see the younger generation appreciate a song on its merits and not on the 'coolness/credibility' of the band in question.

Cliff, you would be proud - I went to afootball game yesterday.Inverness Caledonian Thistle (longest name in any league for you football trivia saddos out there) VS Hearts. I only went cos I tok my son and my friend and his son were coming down from Inverness for it. 3-1 to Caley Cup shock. the biggest shock is , i quite enjoyed it! I also bought a power drill the weekend , maybe Im turning into a real man after al these years.

Vinny- The Filmhouse in Edinburgh is also a brilliant venue, large 3 or 4 screen Arthouse cinema bang in the middle of town. It has a very good reputation and is one the main venues for the Film Festival in August. Tres trendy.

Interesting conspiracy theory Henry. I've heard Simon Cowell plays the triangle on each of his artistes songs so he gets royalties every time they get played on the radio. However not all boybands get airplay, lack of it is what sunk 911 - although better songs would have helped! - and will sadly sink Lee's solo effort in a week's time (not such a bad song) but at least he's getting royalities for co-writing Blue's last no.1 everytime it gets played. I entirely agree with CR's comments recently - playlists are destroying music. Who the hell decided on that awful Uncle Cracker 'follow me' song should be shot. Someone's made a fortune on that one.

Hope Mike Hedges has learned from past mistakes. Difficult to know what went on in the production of SOP but I personally think the production on it is better than PT. Dare I say it, perhaps the songs just weren't right for the times.

Just played the A+B sides CD. Sounded excellent, especially the early bsides which I havent heard for ages. David had never heard some of them.

'Really Really' 'top 20' 'smarter than you' 'Mars Bars' and several others would grace many an album, but to The Undertones they're just about 'B' side material ;-))

It is the B-sides that decide whether a band is great or just good. To my humble opinion bands with great B-sides are the Undertones, The Moondogs, The Jam and recently Kenickie, It just shows great craftmanship in songwriting! Wilke, I will look for Days in Europa!! Had a great footbalweekend as my favourite German team Schalke 04 beat Bayern Munich 5-1!!! A coach full goes every weekend from my village in Holland to see Schalke!!

Well my favourite English football team just beat Ipswich Town 4-1 away. Not only that but they dominated the game and played some exceptional football. I'm in a bit of shock actually - I'd heard good reports but this was something else not the usual parcel of shite you expect when watching City but brilliant anyway. Well done King Kev. Sat watching the draw thinking, please not Newcastle away... One of the June Brides 'Phil Wilson' is on that German compilation album.
