I;pve details of a US showing up soon

Lindsay on 10:01 8th-Feb-02 GMT #9a0-12545
For such a serious offence, you'll be needing them for yourself Alex!

Lindsay on 10:02 8th-Feb-02 GMT #9a0-12546
I never did get a parka, like Damian I lived in a black jacket with attached badges. Also wore loose-knit fuzzy jumpers, spray-on black trousers and instead of the DMs we used to wear those seaside-type bright plastic sandals from the Oxfam shop! I had red ones and my friend Josie’s were blue. That was the last time my hair was long (not very punk really but short hair wasn’t acceptable for ballet) although I did have a red fringe at one stage! Is anyone else as sad as me and can remember exactly what they were wearing at those early gigs?

doninblack on 10:49 8th-Feb-02 GMT #ec7-12547
Talking of ballet, did you know that The Stranglers once did a gig ('82) in London supported by a professional ballet troupe doing an interpretation of the song La Folie. Lindsay, was it you?! And did you dance with your red sandals on?

Jackie on 15:15 8th-Feb-02 GMT #8e6-12548
Yes Lindsay- at my first tones gig I wore a black jacket and badges,an undertones 'unofficial' tshirt I'd ordered from NME classifieds, jeans which I sewed so tight to my legs I had to have zips in the bottom to get over my ankles and black plimsolls(good for pogoing!) Still have the photos to prove it! I didnt die my hair but green marker worked a treat for fringes/streaks!

Jackie on 15:19 8th-Feb-02 GMT #8e6-12549
The mate I went with-Hen was her nickname! was more of a true punk than me. She had tartan trousers with those straps than went between (remember them!) and a clash tshirt and white plimsolls! And she had the longest fingernails ever-painted black.Needless to say we didnt pull that night!

Lindsay on 16:30 8th-Feb-02 GMT #7e0-12552
We're not doing ourselves any favours here Jackie! I wore black plimmies at Uni (as I'm older than you, it was probably around the same time you had them - 80/81?) with the same black trousers, a bright green fuzzy cardigan and jet black short hair. The hair was the nearest thing I got to dancing with The Stranglers!!! (Actually the hair was an accident. I was in the process of dyeing it when the cold water went off and I couldn't wash the dye off as the hot tap was boiling. My mate Wendy will remember this - I was hysterical and she was in hysterics!)

Cliff on 16:57 8th-Feb-02 GMT #847-12553
Give it a rest you two, your getting me going.

Jackie on 17:47 8th-Feb-02 GMT #455-12554
I also 'grew up' at uni-bought a pair of DMs at the army and navy stores in Liverpool, black shoes size 4-which I wore with ankle socks and girlie dresses. Very sad! Still wear the DMs when clearing the snow.

Jackie on 17:48 8th-Feb-02 GMT #455-12555
DMs only cost me £12-bargain.

Lindsay on 18:03 8th-Feb-02 GMT #0e4-12556
Yeah, the New Romantic thing kicked in very quickly didn't it - white court shoes and short ra-ra skirts everywhere (mine was bright pink). Have you gone yet Cliff??!! Did you go to Liverpool Uni Jackie?? If so, we have an awful lot in common!

Julius on 21:48 8th-Feb-02 GMT #e0c-12560
Congratulations Cliff, what an effect these new songs have had on you!!

Julius on 21:51 8th-Feb-02 GMT #e0c-12561
Watched ToTP tonight, A1 was good to be honest. I always admire and praise bands who really sing live on ToTp, well done A1! Also saw Jimmy Eat World. I am anxious to know what you lot think of them, this band is massive in Germany and in the serious press they are compared with the Undertones!!! I think they are very good, but would not like to compare them with the Undertones who are a class of their own!

Julius @ on 21:53 8th-Feb-02 GMT #e0c-12562
Wilke: what do you prefer from the Skids: the original 'Days in Europa' vinyl-LP or their 'Best of'-Cd which includes 'anomation';'Charade' and 'Yankee dollar' of the Day in Europa' LP! You can email me

Congratulations Cliff. Will it be Damian John Michael William Paul Crancher?

Cliff on 22:41 8th-Feb-02 GMT #1ef-12564
Could be Alex, although I'd have to fit 'Astle' in there somewhere. In fact, if its a boy, I like William Buddy Astle Feargal Crancher....I mean just LOOK at those initials!!

Cliff on 22:48 8th-Feb-02 GMT #1ef-12565
