I think I've found the lucky charm Cliff - our 7 year old has only ever been to 2 live games - 4-0 v Stockport and now 5-0 v Portsmouth.

I saw the Stranglers many times and they were always worth the money. Steve sent me tapes of the post Golden Brown albums last year and all but the last 1 were worth a listen. I probably played Rattus more than any other album when it was released - but didn't go to see them until about '79 when they had 'mellowed' a bit.

Talked to a voice on the end of the phone again at Ticketmaster who sold me the Hackney ticket. They say you can have a refund but as far as they are concerned they think it is being rescheduled. Does anyone know for definite ?

John W, does your RGTC Stranglers video contain more than the Hanging Around clip plus walk-off? I am not aware of any more than this having been filmed/broadcast. I have the whole episode on audio (pre-show warm-up songs with Hugh and Jet giving the non-fan audience some choice verbals) plus the filmed bit at the end, as above. If you have the lot on video I'd be interested in getting a copy.

I only saw the stranglers twice. After they mellowed. They were one of the few bands to occasionally play Sunderland as opposed to Newcastle on a tour. It was a funny feeling being in fear of one of the band members jumping down into the crowd to give someone a good hiding. When the Boomtown Rats played Sunderland the local theatre was severely damaged so no other 'punk' bands were allowed to play there.
