Cliff - being a City fan one gets used to losing (usually farcially) so I'll let you gloat as we are playing like Brazil at the moment. Watching them at Newcastle - I was almost in need of a reality cheque. Strangely Frank Sinclair's own goal reminded me of City at their hilarious peak. Now they've become attack and football minded I'm going to miss the farcial days which is a bit perverse but I remember a preview of an away match in the Guardian which simply said ...'the circus comes to town' and I liked thaty. As for the White Stripes - their album sounded like a demo with a load of half finished songs and ideas. Still a lot of people like it. The best guitar based album I have heard recently is by a band called INTER. It's better than the Strokes in my opinion but noone seems to have heard of them. You can get it via HMV's site on the web.

Welcome back Julius. I am expecting problems with the pc in a couple of weeks too. Signed up for broadband and since then I've had person after person telling me about all the problems they had etc. Where were these people when I was considering it - before signing up all I had was people telling me how wonderful it was. So if I get problems look out Jackie !!

Got a meeting this afternoon to discuss 'feedback' on an announcement that our American owner put out on Friday to all employees which he put out to 'clarify confusion' about European rationalisation rumours - ie whether a site will be shut down. I think he was trying to say that while the strength of the pound was hurting our factory no decision was pending on closing it down. Typically he failed miserably. We hadn't heard the rumours so all this has done is get everyone thinking the place is to be shut down. You can imagine the enthusiasm for anyone to work at the moment.

Lee, I've not had a single bit of trouble with broadband except the fact the hard disk is never big enough :)

Tape arrived from John Welsh this am. so housework lost out and I stuck the tape into my dusty video! The New Wave in Ireland (cat. No 687) turns out to be what I think must be Shellshock Rock (it says so at the start anyway) with Tones in Chesters, Portrush (TK) and The Pound (HCTS) end of '78 and footage of all the other NI bands (incl. Protex – albeit rather too brief for my liking!).

Lindsay on 15:02 4th-Mar-02 GMT #b4c-13085
Next up Ulster TV’s 1994 Rock in the North series about the punk scene, featuring old footage, Terri Hooley dancing(!) and current interviews with members of the same bands (albeit looking slightly older by now), incl. Owen from Protex and JON & MB (MB not v. talkative for once - John's talking so much he can't get a word in!). I have to say one member being interviewed looks VERY FIT although I’m not saying who as he may be listening! (Damian isn’t interviewed by the way).

Lindsay on 15:03 4th-Mar-02 GMT #b4c-13086
Filled the rest of the tape with old Revolver VH1 edits. The tapes cost £15 incl p&p for a 3hr tape and you can choose what you want from his lists to fill the tape. Look for ones with EXcellent/Master quality. I’m going to order another after next payday. Best start on the hoovering now...with Skids on personal stereo to reduce tedium.

Lindsay on 15:04 4th-Mar-02 GMT #b4c-13087
Actually I think I'll have a cuppa and some mini-eggs first!

just listened to the new Undertones song (ta Lindsay). I think it’s a cracking tune but maybe the key is too low & doesn’t do Paul’s vocals any favours. I reckon it could become an immense song done in a higher key. Btw, anyone going to the film showing in Bristol 16/17 March? ©®

Just got shot of EP number 13 ! And not a word - great how music (?) still has the power to induce horror into the listener. Cheer up album out in 2 weeks and the colour printer might be working !

Lindsay: I just read that radiohead are major fans of the Electric Soft parade and the next radiohead-CD will be heavily inspired by the Electric soft parade. CityRocker: How are your recordings going??

CMoS on 22:53 4th-Mar-02 GMT #d79-13098
Cant believe Jp was only on Room 101 for 1/2 and hour - he sounded like he could have gone on all night

Jackie on 22:54 4th-Mar-02 GMT #455-13099
Classic BBC2 tonight- Never Mind the Buzzcocks-did you see that Skids bloke?? Plus a good Westlife joke (that I'm sure Lindsay wouldnt have liked!) Peel was his usual self- and hasnt Paul Merton lost loads of weight? My posting tally will be under threat- I'm using the 3 minutes I have before my PC crashes AGAIN..

Jackie on 22:55 4th-Mar-02 GMT #455-13100
CMoS- do you do call outs???

Lindsay on 23:27 4th-Mar-02 GMT #eb1-13101
Damn, missed NMTB - which Skids bloke?? Will have to watch the repeat at the w/e - if only for the Westlife joke.

Lindsay on 23:37 4th-Mar-02 GMT #eb1-13102
Sorry CMoS. Listened to your EP at the w/e, lyrics at hand, and meant to put a comment on but forgot (honest!). I liked the first track best and I'd be interested in learning more about how you put the EP together - I might like to try one of my own! Perhaps we could do a collaboration as I think the songs might benefit somewhat from my vocal talents;-)

George on 23:43 4th-Mar-02 GMT #c0e-13103
Just noticed there are even more expensive records available on e-bay. Who is prepared to pay £40 for a french version LP. Even local groups like the Toy Dolls and Martin Stephenson have records for sale where the bidding has reached over £20. I have the Toy Dolls record that is for sale for £25. I had better increase my household insurance. I still have NMTB to watch from tonight. Didn't tape Room 101 as I didn't know John Peel was on. Did the Undertones get a mention?

Lindsay @ on 23:50 4th-Mar-02 GMT #eb1-13104
Julius, anything remotely like Radiohead doesn't sound too good to me. Wilke, not sure if I'm up-to-date with your email address and I can't believe it's the one under the '@' after your name - is it? Email me to confirm will you.

CMoS on 01:50 5th-Mar-02 GMT #d79-13105
No George the tones didnt get a mention (i think Tk was played over the teaser) - apparently hes into trash-metal sorry death-metal at the moment and has had a slot CD player fitted to his car so he can listen to stuff cf. tapes. THat an green ! shoes. So whilst we're on the point what the difference between trash and death (metal) ?
