Yes, I recall The Sect as we used them for several bookings in Omagh, Strabane etc. If memory serves me right they were Jim Walker gtr/vocals - `Min` McCann on drums and maybe Seamus Cassidy on bass (?). A lot of Jam covers including a great version of `Saturday Kids`. Not as good as `The Corner Boys`!!

CMoS on 08:22 20th-Mar-02 GMT #a5b-13363
Saturday's kids - the first indication Tesco's was growing up and about to challenge in the supermarket stakes
'Saturday's girls work in Tesco's and Woolworths'

Mmmm, Mars Bars - Hear they're nice deep fried in batter, not so readily available at your local Spar though. So, Derek who keeps the gardens of Brookie neat and tidy these days?

Mickey on 15:42 20th-Mar-02 GMT #5d7-13365
Wilke - the Sect are actually mentioned on the site. Must admit they were not my fave band.

Vinny on 10:16 20th-Mar-02 GMT #ec4-13366
THE SECT: Jim Walker(Guitar/ Vocals); Min McCann(Drums);John Cassidy(Bass); later joined for a while by Seamus Cassidy on guitar. Seamus later joined Channel 4 and was the man responsible for commissioning programmes like DROP THE DEAD DONKEY, FATHER TED etc. Us Derrymen get everywhere!!He now works with Planet 24, Big Breakfast etc. I have some demos on my CD compilation. Jim and John now play in Derry covers band THE JAYWALKERS.

At the press screening last week, Arthur had the wonderful idea of handing out MARS BARS to all the journalists in attendance!! Great touch altogether.

Arthur on 11:03 20th-Mar-02 GMT #5c0-13368
I also had the idea of handing out swigs of Buckfast, wrapped in a brown paper bag. 'Tea, Coffee, swig of Buckfast...' I thought it was funny. No one got it. I bet you did Donald!

Mars Bars, Glasgow recipe. Deep fry in batter and eat with chips. Wash down with Irn Bru. Rab C swears by it.

Ernie on 14:22 20th-Mar-02 GMT #76f-13373
I did a stint with the BBC in 1980 and came across Seamus Cassidy. I done a series of six programmes called `Bout You`, wrote some material for it and played a sort of lead role in it.

Lindsay on 14:31 20th-Mar-02 GMT #423-13374
I believe I've seen Jim and John in action in the Gweedore Bar before Termon. I asked Paul McC. who the band were and he said The Jaywalkers. Pretty good they were too as I remember.

Lindsay on 14:37 20th-Mar-02 GMT #423-13375
Sorry Arthur, I don't really get it either but what's being stupid amongst friends eh? I only get jokes if they're very silly. My excuse this time is I'm not totally sure what Buckfast is anyway apart from I gather it must be an alcoholic drink. Is it the favourite tipple of down-and-outs in Scotland or something?! Try making those chewy Rice Crispie square things using melted Mars Bars, they're delicious and MB easter eggs are the nicest chocolate eggs (although I give the bars away as I've never liked them). Like singing about them though! PS. Where do spacemen drink after work? In a Mars Bar! (sorry, forgot to mention, I'm pretty bad at telling them too!!).

Buckfast: made by Devon monks, but a religion in Glasgow (and dodgier parts of Bristol if you know where to look ☺)

MICKEY on 19:37 20th-Mar-02 GMT #5d7-13379
IS THAT SALLY AND JULIE FROM BRISTOL?

Ernie on 19:26 20th-Mar-02 GMT #0cd-13380
Vinny, old chum. Did you get a chance of listening to the Paul Taggart demos I gave you on CD?

Cliff on 19:50 20th-Mar-02 GMT #527-13381
Heres a typical example of the sort of great messages I get from people wanting t-shirts...'Back in 1979 I'd been at Reading Uni for a week when The Undertones were booked to play Aberystwyth, which was where I lived-a great gig it was,got Feargal Sharkey's autograph on my Union card and bought a You've got my number T-shirt which eventually fell apart through overuse.Saw them loads of times after that, dragging girlfriends screaming around the country sometimes with Dave Henderson, who claimed to have brrn at school with the band, shouting Mars Bars until I was hoarse.'

George on 21:35 20th-Mar-02 GMT #22e-13382
Didn't Marianne Faithfull/Mick Jagger have some alternative use for a Mars Bar that didn't involve eating it? Whatever happened to the surplus T-shirts after the Irish concerts in December? Are they still available to purchase at the Cork price (which was considerably cheaper than the price the following night in Dublin). And if so where do you get them.

wilke @ on 22:09 20th-Mar-02 GMT #4a4-13383
cliff are you doing any new t shirts as i am going to spain this summer and would like a new one to wear over there .see ya

wilke @ on 22:21 20th-Mar-02 GMT #4a4-13384
george i think that you would need to get in touch with the undertones manager as i think he has the t shirts from the gig.donald how did st paddys day go? see ya

Cliff on 23:11 20th-Mar-02 GMT #900-13385
I don't think I'll be doing any new designs to be honest Wilke, its a limited market.I still get the occassional order and 95% of the time its the classic arrows or the lobster.George, regarding the t-shirts used for the Irish tour, they'll be available at future gigs for sure, but when that might be is anyones guess :-((
