Musings
Liam .As far as i know it's Paul and 1 or 2 others doing an acoustic set.I think [hope} he's going to play Danny Says. Dave R on 08:14 5th-Apr-02 GMT #395-13686 I'm currently in the process of putting details of all, and I mean all!, The Undertones shows from 1976 (yes, 1976!!) to 1983 on theundertones.com site. At present, I've done 1976, 1977, 1978 & 1982 - with the rest to follow…The listings can be found under the 'Live' heading. Looking at the later dates/years, I was amazed at how many gigs and tours the band actually did - it's a wonder they had time for anything else! Lindsay on 09:59 5th-Apr-02 GMT #c96-13688 Glad someone has seen fit to put on a tribute to Stuart Adamson. No more than he deserved IMO but the Skids without Stuart? No way! Simon Ward on 13:36 5th-Apr-02 GMT #61c-13691 For Dave's gig archive, I found the following on the Moondogs site, after searching for the Union Hall gig: '09/06/1982 Gerry Mc Candless supported the The Undertones in The Union Hall, Derry as a solo act using backing tracks.' It was a brilliant, unforgettable night. Don't be fooled by the term 'Hall', it was (is?) a room over a row of shops and the band just played in a corner, a bit like the Vibe only much smaller and with no barriers. It cost a £1 and it was the first time I was old enough to go and see them. When I went to the Mean Fiddler, the guy next to me was also from Derry, had been to my school, and had also been in the Union Hall! No-one who was there will ever forget it. Liam @ on 13:46 5th-Apr-02 GMT [homepage.ntlworld.com/joeyramone] #db7-13693 Simon. I was at the Union Hall gig. As far as I remember Gerry Mc Candless died a slow death on stage that night. There was very little acknowledgement of his performance from the audience at all. Feargal played a blinder that night and to top it off there was a grand wee riot in Shipquay Street after the gig. Oh to be young again! Jackie on 15:41 5th-Apr-02 GMT #455-13696 I see another guitar god survives to live another day (and buy another drink....) As much as I love him, I reckon he's got off lightly! Jackie on 15:42 5th-Apr-02 GMT #455-13697 And what about Liz Hurley's name of choice? Is she a fan of Only Fools and Horses or could it be a nod to guitar god # 1?? wilke @ on 17:46 5th-Apr-02 GMT #61d-13699 hello. lindsay you said the skids without stuart no way well what about the tones without feargal would that not allso be the same thing ?? ps i dont want the start a war of words with any one this is just my option pps what the hell theres not good on tv anyway this might make a good way to pass the time away see ya wilke @ on 17:47 5th-Apr-02 GMT #61d-13700 hello. lindsay you said the skids without stuart no way well what about the tones without feargal would that not allso be the same thing ?? ps i dont want the start a war of words with any one this is just my option pps what the hell theres nothing good on tv anyway this might make a good way to pass the time away see ya wilke @ on 17:48 5th-Apr-02 GMT #61d-13701 sorry about the last posting my pc is acting up seeya Lindsay on 18:55 5th-Apr-02 GMT #18c-13703 Without wishing to incur the wrath of OOPS again, The Undertones without Feargal is fairly acceptable to me but The Undertones without guitar god #1 is unthinkable (I'm sure Jackie would agree). Likewise, the Skids for me without Stuart. It's a woman thing Wilke, don't try to understand it! wilke @ on 19:52 5th-Apr-02 GMT #813-13704 lindsay i gave up trying to understand woman years ago .so have a good weekend talk soon see ya ps can anyone tell me if gary numan ever did a best of thanks see ya doninblack on 19:54 5th-Apr-02 GMT #2a4-13706 Don't worry Lindsay, the Stuart Adamson tribute gig is not actually a 'Skids' gig - just that members of the Skids will be taking part, as well as several other guests who had a connection with Stuart and manager Ian Grant, including Stuart's son and daughter. The details are on the Big Country website. It's at Barrowland, and should be a special night. I'm going along, partly cos Hugh Cornwell is one of the guests appearing. Never saw the Skids live, but saw BC a couple of times. Stuart certainly put his heart and soul into his performances. wilke @ on 21:57 5th-Apr-02 GMT #25c-13709 sounds like it could be a great night at the stuart Adamson gig hope it all goes well on the night.looking forward to the ramones night next week i had a bit of luck with the numan cd found out it came out 1982 and was called newman numan the best of hope get a copy this week .pps jackie no curry & beer. night this week talk soon see ya George on 22:33 5th-Apr-02 GMT #a96-13711 See Arthur and Cliff have reason to celebrate tonight and their fave teams weren't even playing. Can anyone help me with the name of a song and the artist. It was a 60s or 70s Hippy type american song which I think mentioned something about a parking lot and don't know what it is til its gone! It was definitely a female singer. Please HELP!! Jackie on 22:34 5th-Apr-02 GMT #455-13712 wilke-not this weekend.True confessions time- I rated Mr Numan many moons ago sad to say. Anyone with a video compilation of his will see he recorded one of his videos about 20 yards from my house in a giant electricity testing station..I remember the day well as all us girls wanted to bunk off school and go and see him! I see some group have ripped off the hook from 'Cars'. Why can't they write their own? Jackie on 22:36 5th-Apr-02 GMT #455-13713 George it was Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell I think. George on 22:52 5th-Apr-02 GMT #a96-13714 Thanks Jackie. I just found the answer myself after searching using google. I found out it some band called Cinderella and Janet Jackson have songs called till it's gone. I thought it was Joni Mitchell, but didn't know how the a big yellow taxi came to be the song title. My first conversation with Michael Bradley on the steps of the Mean Fiddler two years ago after a seventeen year absence was 'about how many copies of Are Friends Electric I have now!' The question was asked by Michael.
