Philosophical thought for the day. Society likes to categorise. Football gets a bad name from violence but if knitting were the most popular pastime you would end up with groups who preferred one type of knitting to another (note my total lack of knowledge of knitting but now I've used it as an example I ain't got time to change it) and ultimately society would build up a gang mentality and we'd have 'knitting violence'. Music had that tag more than once - mods v rockers as an example. To be continued...

Continued...It's a sad world where we can't all accept each others likes and dislikes and just get on with it. As I'm typing I can't help but think the next example is religion or politics but don't want to go down that route here. If Liam or anyone else want political discussion I don't have a problem with it but I'm sure there are better places where they will get the sort of response they want. All I would say is discussion IMO is a means to listen to other peoples views - not a place where you just slag off anyone that doesn't agree with you.

Like I've said before this site tends to be a bit like a cosy knitting circle with only about 6 contributors most of the time (keeping the knitting theme going) and it needs the occasional leftfield comment to stir things up. Shocked to discover film had sold out -there was 60 seats left yesterday, luckily its ousted 24 hour party poopers to be shown in the bigger cinema. I was still recommended to book as the girl said they'd had dozens of phonecalls today about it and were expecting longs queues tonight so get there early! See what Jonathan Ross does for you!

NME Originals Punk special out today. Contains Undertones feature from 1978, with great onstage pix. Also Tones record reviews from the time. Lots of other bands featured, so well worth picking up.

Picked my copy up yesterday. Not sure of Tony Parsons bad review of Teenage Kicks (or the Skids for that matter) but made up for by great 2 page article on the band from 1978. Met Mike Joyce (drums)and Andy Rourke (bass)at a Smiths book signing last night - amazed to hear that there is apparently at least a triple albums worth of unreleased Smiths tracks around but Morrissey/Marr are blocking them from ever being released. Shame.

I blame SCOOBY f*cking DOO meself for all this fighting, oh and he started the Gulf War also. Just a thought?

Film 2002 is being shown again on BBC choice at 10.55 tonight.I'm watching it at the neighbours and he's taping it for me.

Just seen it on Film 2002 !! Excellent, a brief mention then played out with 'get over you' as mentioned earlier.Who would ever have thought that such a popular BBC programme would play out with an Undertones video? Imagine what a shock that must've been to Undertones fans that still have no idea about the reformation or about the film, I bet a few sat bolt upright when it came on.

The newcastle showing seemed to go very well. The seats downstairs seemed at least 95% full. Don't know how full the circle seats were. Definitely over 200 people there. No doubt Jackie will confirm but I was probably older than the majorty of people there. Quite a few youngsters, probably students in attendance. A small note in the reception saying that due to demand that the films had been swapped with Teenage Kicks showing on the larger capacity screen. So well done Vinny and Arthur.

George what time did you get home?? Great night, totally sold out upstairs and down, about 250 seats. Good atmosphere in the back row!! The film was even better than Brixton. Pity it wasnt on more than one night.

Lots of people eating magnums!! Lindsay you could have been up here easy and gone home on the 10.30pm train, or stayed at ours. Too late now though..Vinny you have reached a massive audience! Well done.

Just out of interest, when all the showings have been done, how many people will have seen the film? Whatever it is, if it doesn't show the band that there's a following out there then nothing will.
