any gigs in brighton this year

Lee on 12:41 25th-Apr-02 GMT #fb0-14135
Looking forward to Warwick this evening and meeting whoever is going. Should be good.

Lee on 12:47 25th-Apr-02 GMT #fb0-14136
Rick, Liam and anyone else - I'd agree it doesn't hurt at all to stir things up and I agree with Rick that at times the chat here does get a bit 'easy'. It isn't possible to be controversial every day is it as that would then be the norm. My comments weren't aimed at not broaching emotive subjects - more the manner of how it is done. A debate or discussion in my mind is about 2 or more people talking and giving their views. It is also about the others listening to their views and if they disagree saying so and saying why. There will never be a time when everyone agrees but I can do without the - and this is just an example - 'The (Enter nationality or religion here) are a load of wankers and should be shot at dawn' type of debate.

Lee on 12:51 25th-Apr-02 GMT #fb0-14137
Got the poackage today Julius. Many thanks for that stuff. I'll be in touch when I can find a few minutes at home. Will have a meeting this afternoon that decides if I have to go to France next month or to Holland again so maybe we can get together. The French trip is more likely but I shall try to swing it to Holland.

Has anyone noticed that there's twelve Undertones shirts available at CDNow?! Looks as though you've got competition, Cliff!

Hugh on 13:50 25th-Apr-02 GMT #64f-14139
How come the people who claim to want more controversy and debate are always the ones who get abusive when anyone disagrees with them?

Arthur on 14:05 25th-Apr-02 GMT #29f-14140
As someone who is proud to be Irish, I'm sick of the petty, bitter anti English slant that lace a lot of the comments on here. As for the idea that I need this website to broaden my outlook, thinking or understanding of the world or politics well that's arrrogance bordering on stupidity. The people I'm interested in here are those who bring something positive to it and not those who sit on the sidelines sniping.

Jackie on 17:26 25th-Apr-02 GMT #455-14141
Is the background a diagram of the inner ear CMos??

Jackie on 17:29 25th-Apr-02 GMT #455-14142
Half page Sin of Pride era photo and film plug/write up in the northeasts biggest paper the evening chronicle last night. Plus interview on Radio Newcastle on Monday of one of the band. Not sure about both, as usual I missed them.

Cliff on 18:04 25th-Apr-02 GMT #450-14143
You're right Dave, they've got loads of Undertones t-shirts but no pics of them?? 'Jimmy Jimmy' 'YGMN' 'TK', lobster design and 'standing in doorway'? anybody seen these before or got any?

Cliff on 18:05 25th-Apr-02 GMT #450-14144
.....and the arrow design.

Too long to post, so it doesnt work sorry!

George on 20:10 25th-Apr-02 GMT #63b-14150
You can still see the article (minus any pictures) if you enter the first part of the website address up to and incl. the .co.uk bit and doing a word search on 'undertones'

George on 20:15 25th-Apr-02 GMT #63b-14151
First time I've looked at the cdnow website. Never heard of the sin of pride being reissued as sense of sin. Pity there are no pictures of the T-Shirts otherwise I would be tempted.

I went to see Shane MacGowan last wednesday, I think he writes some great songs and is a great wordsmith. I had to travel over 100 miles but I found it worth. The concert was supposed to start at 2130, but the support act played on-and-on and we found out why, Shane had not appeared yet

Julius on 22:07 25th-Apr-02 GMT #bd1-14155
. At 2330 he entered the stage, totally drunk, pouring drink over himself, greeting us with :'Hello Nazi's'. The set was great though , The Popes were a great band , the accordeonist was superb, I indulged in pogoing but after 2 songs I was totally wet from all the beer which was thrown(most of the audience had same drinkinghabits). The gig ended at 0100, had to bring home collegues and arrived home at 0330 but had to wake up at 6 to go to work. What a night. At my tender age of 38 you cannot cope with that kind of rock'n'roll-life anymore so had some early nights afterwards.... The reviews of the gig in our press were dreadful('worst gig ever') but I liked it. But you have to see it in perspective: we went with a group of 8 and 4 of them left beforehand as they found it a shamble!!!

Just got back from the Warwick film screening. Excellent film, and watched by a good and mixed crowd of about 60 - 70. Good to see Lee, Steve, Hugh and Lindsay all waving the flag. Roll on a gig/ep/album/peel session.......anything......come on boys!!

Julius on 22:09 25th-Apr-02 GMT #bd1-14157
Nice bit in the concert was when Shane shouted at the audience who were quite loud to be honest: 'Shut up you silly bastards this is a love song, Fuckin Dutch'

Julius on 22:18 25th-Apr-02 GMT #bd1-14158
Congrats on 1000 Lindsay. I thought No-one had noticed but just catched up on backpostings and it was noticed. An Undertones '1000th posting-gig' in Yorkshire should be a nice present!!!

Cliff on 22:25 25th-Apr-02 GMT #c6a-14159
I'm also tempted regarding the t-shirts George but my gut feeling is they will simply be a transfer of the sleeve designs on a shirt.Anyone can get that done themselves in Boots for a tenner.

Steve on 22:40 25th-Apr-02 GMT #92a-14160
Really enjoyed the film tonight, What lovely guys they all are. Good to meet up with everyone too. We should have a yearly bash....Fairport Convention have been doing one for years that has grown to one of the biggest festivals in England.

Lee on 23:43 25th-Apr-02 GMT #8fc-14161
Really enjoyed the film Vinny. To put the music together with the band and their thoughts, the backdrop of the times in Derry and so many people with their own views adds so much to the understanding of what was such an important part of my life. Well done and can't wait for the DVD.

Lee on 23:49 25th-Apr-02 GMT #8fc-14163
And then to meet such nice people too - can't wait for the next get together. Really enjoyed meeting you all and we should do it again somewhere soon - how about another Undertones Day in the summer or a few DVD release parties dotted around the country?
