Dolly Mixture - top band - also supported the Jam on some gigs - couple of good singles - Been Teen and Everything and More - Were signed to Paul Wellers Label licenced by Polydor while he was in the Jam but didn't do very well. Provided the backing to Captain Sensible on Happy Talk - so appeared a few times on TOTP. One of the girls later married the Captain. In a biography of Paul Weller 'My Ever Changing Moods' the author speaks to Dolly Mixture who cites the Undertones as their heroes. One of the best gigs i saw was the Dolly Mixture supporting the Undertones at Portsmouth Guildhall - as i remember the Dolly Mixture were called back for several encores which say something. Good luck to Ireland - best move to rid themselves of Keane - even though he is a great player.

The Dolly Mixtures picked up when TV Smith (yes of the adverts) and the the Explorers left/kicked off the tour. This was on the Positive Touch tour. The Moondogs toured on Hypnotised. So taken with the Undertones that the Dolly Mixtures even used the same producer for their first single on Chrysalis

Fergal Sharky - where is he now and what is he up to

C'mon Vinny tell the truth you've been in Cannes topping up your tan so you don't feel out of place when you come to the Scottish Riviera.

There are large parts of what Roy Keane said that I agree with. It's about the psychology of success not going to make up the numbers and being the good oul Irish there for the craic. Then again it's a team game and the rest of the squad don't seem sorry to see him go.

Cliff on 19:33 25th-May-02 GMT #ebe-14794
Vinny, 'if something needs saying say it'...fine, but if you say it to the person in charge and it undermines their authority, you take the consequences. In this case that meant letting down the team and(more important IMO)...the supporters. Some of them had probably saved for ages for this and now their best player won't be there.

Roy Keane is a nobody. What about Geordie Best?! Saw him play, retired, with a belly as big as mine, for a Glentoran select v Man Utd, including Bryan Robson, Norman Whiteside, Paul McGrath etc., and the guy was the best player on the park by MILES. And George likes the Undertones. Who's coming to GFT to see John, Vinny and the film?

Vinny on 20:06 25th-May-02 GMT #d12-14796
Hi Cliff. I totally agree, having read the papers today and if even half of what is reported is true the fella doesn't even deserve to play for Man U or anyone else for that matter!!The FAI are a joke and we know this here thru Derry City etc but Keane could have waited until after the World Cup etc.

Vinny on 20:08 25th-May-02 GMT #d12-14797
By the way, that was NEARLY a football discussion so I'd better stop it now.

Arthur on 20:19 25th-May-02 GMT #d12-14798
I'm really wound up about Roy Keane. Large parts of me has sympathy with him. He's the best player in the squad and he wasn't out there drinking til 5am. Why shouldn't you go there believing you can win it. If not you're just making up the numbers but his behaviour and language was unacceptable, insulting and rascist and cannot be exscused. Wrong on every level especially to all the 8 and 9 year olds with Roy Keane on their Irish replica shirts. What sort of an example is he to them?

doninblack on 20:44 25th-May-02 GMT #52e-14799
John O'Neill is appearing at the Glasgow Film Theatre for a Q&A on Thurs 30/5. It's gonna be a great night, so if you can make it great, if not - give me the question you've always wanted to ask...

I hope JO'N and Vinny have answers.

Cliff on 00:53 26th-May-02 GMT #100-14807
Arthur, 'Why shouldn't you go there believing you can win it'...thats the sort of arrogance that makes Man U so unpopular. ;-))

Cliff on 00:55 26th-May-02 GMT #100-14808
Donin, ask John O'Neill if he fancies Chelsea's chances against Albion next season.
