Recieved 'Crisis Fortune' by Spectre D'Escalier in the post this morning, unsolicited and unexplained. Immediately played it, then played it again to make sure I definitely didn't understand it. Can only assume this comes from the strangly fluffy, avante garde world of CMoS! (the web page style gave it away). The commercial possibilities in this piece of work are almost unstarting. (Peel session then?!) Uncertain time signatures, the most fucked-up vocals this side of Shaun Ryder and, erm, 'challenging' lyrics. I love it & will definitely listen again whilst smoking an unfeasibly large, ahem, cigarette! And no, I never owned a pair of kite pants either, but would like to.

John O'Neill bought me a drink last night! The Q&A was great. About 150 there. John was very interesting about his reasons for writing songs, influences, the punk ethic, and it seems several of the Undertones have a cousin called Kevin, causing no end of family strife! Single due at end of July, containing 3 songs (don't know the titles). They're putting it out themselves, maybe 1000 only (which I think is an underestimation of the likely demand). Hopeful of an album early next year. John thinks the new songs sound as good as anything he's ever written, which is great news.

In the bar, Alex and I were banging on about gigs, and John would love to play gigs in the UK. It's all about getting the right offer.

Sounds a good night in weegieland.Really sorry I couldnt make it - I hate missing the possibilty of a free drink. Maybe get a fuller version tonight at the Stuart A tribute Donin.

Great news about releases - sounds like John's positive about it which always helps.

I also received the latest Spectre D'Escalier opus this morning. Glad Kite Pants is the first track because the anticipation of playing a track with this title is killing me! Also like the look of Quiet Tears and Cream Doves, or Triumph and Torture Tango. It's a strange world you live in CMoS.

Can a few of you That Petrol Emotion fans drop in on Espen's site please. His guestbook is a bit thin on the ground these days and the discussion board that he opened has more discussions on why noone has posted any discussions than on anything about the band. I think the time and effort that must be spent setting these things up deserves the odd visit and he's a sporadic visitor here so if you've got a few minutes post a message please. Thank you.

Great news about the fortcoming single, 1000 is really an underestimation; they should do more, we could help in promtion action and just like The Saw Doctors secure them a Top40-placing which give them further promotion etc etc etc.

When is the chatroom open again??? Certainly see you on the 17th Lee!!

See you tonight Donald. Maybe you'll like Hugh Cornwell this time. Vinny, good to see you again last night. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I'll buy you another Macallan 10 year old next time. Hi to Caroline, John and friends/family. Hope you enjoyed yourself last night. I thought it was great, even though I am now in major trouble with my better half for getting bolloxed! C'est la vie...

doninblack on 14:30 31st-May-02 GMT #bde-14935
The thing about gigs seems to be a lack of a driving force behind getting them organised. The band want to play, but they need someone to get their arse in gear to do something about it. So, if you believe in the punk ethic of 'do it yourself', think about promoting a gig. If you believe in the band, and work out how many punters you will get through your particular door, it can be done. I hope in the not too distant future the boys will be getting an offer for a gig in Glasgow from 2 or 3 names you know on this site. Otherwise you could be waiting for ever...

Great news about the single. But with only a 1000 available I dont't think I'll be able to get it at my local HMV. Lee, can't seem to be able to e-mail you for the Snakes and Ladders mp3. I'm really interested could you send it for me. Thanks.

Just dropped John, Caroline and Vinny at the airport, big thank you to them for a great night. John was excellent at the Q&A and Caroline was great company and a lovely person. Vinny well what can I say!! Even though he gave me a dodgy CD I had a great laugh and now have a Malt Whisky habit. Cheers

For all your taxi driving needs contact AlexD, friend of the stars. By the way, the GFT bought Alex and me drinks last night, thinking that we were part of the entourage. Come back any time Vinny!

Vinny on 18:36 31st-May-02 GMT #8d3-14939
