Anybody plunged for the Pistols box set ?

Dave R on 09:10 5th-Jun-02 GMT #395-14989
Julius – I bought the 3CD Jam at the BBC set yesterday. It’s fantastic!! £17 for three CD’s, lavishly packaged (no, I’m not a salesman for Polydor!). Seriously though, it’s all stuff that’s been on bootlegs, but this is perfect quality stuff. It puts the Pistols 3CD set to shame, which does contain unreleased stuff, but is a blatant rip-off at £30+. The swindle continues, indeed!

Dave R on 09:13 5th-Jun-02 GMT #395-14990
....CMoS, boycott the Pistols set and buy The Jam one! Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler are probably in greater need of the cash. The Jam are also a much better band.

CMoS on 11:16 5th-Jun-02 GMT #a5b-14991
Dave you actually paid for a Jam box set ! I think Weller might be getting quite rich after the footie single tune - do Bruce/Rick get any of that ?

Jackie on 11:42 5th-Jun-02 GMT #81e-14992
Sex Pistols BOX SET- what a contradiction in terms!!Their LPs were horrible first time round.

Rick on 12:21 5th-Jun-02 GMT #2a9-14993
What is wrong with the Pistols making some money from their considerable legacy ? People like McClaren and Branson made enough from them first time around and Lydon recently said that when you come from nothing then you have every right to try and get as far from that as you can. He doesn't question why you go to work and make the money you do so why criticise him ? Besides there is now a new generation of teen punks listening to Nu-Metal who think Nirvana and Green Day were the main creators of this type of music.

Rick on 12:25 5th-Jun-02 GMT #2a9-14994
By the way the Leftfield remix of God Save the Queen isn't bad and a welcome relief in this weeks chart (albeit at lowly number 15) with all this Jubilee nonsense and the claim that Will Young was the greatest star at the Jubilee concert (see comments on the BBC website) despite the prescence of real legends like Macca and Brian Wilson. I watched the 6 hours of punk documentaries on UK Play which were great and featured interviews with Damian and clips of Teenage Kicks and YGMN on TOTP.

CMoS on 12:43 5th-Jun-02 GMT #a5b-14995
Whats the boxset like Rick ? I undestand there a version of GSTQ with a guiar solo !

George on 13:25 5th-Jun-02 GMT #835-14996
I haven't missed the Jubilee celebrations entirely. The Americans do occasionally show news that happens outside their own borders (but not very often). They liked the idea of the Queen watching Ozzy Osborne. Caught the end of the USA v Portugal game this morning, but with probably spanish commentary. Interesting result. At the moment Germany are playing Ireland. It's 25 past 8 US breakfast time.

George on 13:29 5th-Jun-02 GMT #835-14997
I've only bought two records so far. The Toy Dolls Orchastrated (I think that's the name)and a Led Zeppelin cover CD by a band called Great White. That's for my former boss at Barclays! Never heard anything by the band.

George on 13:43 5th-Jun-02 GMT #835-14998
I suppose most of you will be back at work after the two day holiday break (except for those with cushy jobs who get the whole week off). I have tried several times over the last year to buy Damians's No flies on Frank EP from 101CD but without success. The track listing has been mentioned on the site many moons ago.

George on 13:50 5th-Jun-02 GMT #835-14999
I'm not 100% certain about the Irish dates at the end of July. Lack of money and available holidays may play a part. I have a weeks holiday booked with my children at the end of August which is costing me an arm and a leg. By the time I have fed and entertained them for a week it's going to make my New York trip seem cheap. Three girls are very demanding! Like most people if I do go it will be for the first two nights and probably give Oldcastle a miss if it is a less intimate festival. My one dollar has given nme 4 hours of internet time today, hence the many messages. The other day I only got 24 minutes, presumably with it being the weekend.

Jackie on 15:00 5th-Jun-02 GMT #81e-15000
Dead cushy George. After WW3 between my kids today stuck inside, I'd rather be refereeing my usual bunch. Talking of which well done Ireland for wiping the grins off the Germans faces!

Jackie on 15:01 5th-Jun-02 GMT #81e-15001
..and I can't make Ireland in July.

Vinny on 15:30 5th-Jun-02 GMT #d12-15002
I'm in shock, what a f#cking match, Robbie Keane is a hero!!!!!!!!!!!

Vinny on 15:53 5th-Jun-02 GMT #d12-15003

Well done Ireland today. (Sadly at work in Glasgow) I knew they'd equalised when I heard the roar from the pub about 200 yards away! Nice one. Hope they can keep it going.

doninblack on 17:35 5th-Jun-02 GMT #bde-15008
I agree, Donald, The Skids set was the highlight. Jobbers was giving it his all, and everyone loved it. Strange they were on so early, considering they played longest, and this helped to make the rest seem pretty unexciting. Hugh was good though. He hasn't played in front of a decent sized crowd in years and was obviously enjoying it. Vibrators were ok, and Brian James doing New Rose was good. Retired to the bar later so thankfully missed Vienna etc. Wished it had been a full Skids gig, but nice to have had a taste of what the good old days must have been like. Ahoy!!!

Vinny, I thought it was confirmed at the Warwick? Good luck in the next few days? Aah, you must mean EN-GER-LAND!!

Arthur on 21:40 5th-Jun-02 GMT #949-15012
It's not luck England need - it's a passing and possession game with one a forward such as Sheringham whom the other forward can play off. With all the talk of Beckham people have forgotten how important Stephen Gerard is to them. Guess who missed the Robbie Keane goal today then as my daughter had just woken up.

Vinny on 21:58 5th-Jun-02 GMT #d12-15013
Hi Cliff: I was posting details for those who haven't booked accommodation etc yet. Long time no hear? Doing the 80 hour week again?

Whos says's only mad dogs and englishmen go out in the heat of the midday sun. I've just done my second and final New York race tonight. Over 80F at 7pm. The heat makes you tired before you even start the run. Only a mickey mouse race. I was third overall but first old gadgy. Seen most of the World Cup goals. Haven't seen Portugals two yet. Lets hope Ireland can stick nine past Saudi Arabia.
