Musings
As if things weren't bad enough here I'm now trying to fight off a cold. Trying to cheer up in the mornings by blasting the Clash on Broadway cd's in the car on the way to work. Sorry you lot but Complete Control played at full blast just has to be the greatest track ever. Cliff on 14:32 9th-Jul-02 GMT #dc0-15582 Sorry Lee, but played at full blast in the car has to be; any of first 5/6 Undertones singles, or most of the first album, most of 'hypnotised';'WSC' 'babylons burning' 'this perfect day' or a decent handful of Ramones stuff.Clash my ass ;-) Cliff on 14:35 9th-Jul-02 GMT #dc0-15583 or 'going underground' or 'pump it up' or 'pretty vacant' or 'anarchy in the UK' or several buzzcocks. But nothing by the highly over rated clash. Rick on 15:12 9th-Jul-02 GMT #2a9-15585 Cliff - not even the rousing 'Tommy Gun', 'White Riot', 'White Man in Hammersmith Palais', 'I Fought the Law' oh I could go on and on. Cliff on 16:19 9th-Jul-02 GMT #ce3-15586 nah sorry, 'i fought the law' was OK but not originally by them anyway. Jackie on 18:53 9th-Jul-02 GMT #81e-15587 TOTP 2 good with no more heroes followed by Soul II Soul. Rubbish after that! Jackie on 18:55 9th-Jul-02 GMT #81e-15588 HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE CLASH cliff!!!!!! Cliff on 18:58 9th-Jul-02 GMT #462-15589 A kid I know through the internet is off to Derry next week, he follows Partick Thistle. They play Derry next Tuesday and I think hes staying at the 'Acorn'....maybe he'll meet the legendary Margaret. Cliff on 18:59 9th-Jul-02 GMT #462-15590 Clash Smlash.vastly over rated, best punk band ever? what a f*cking joke. Lindsay on 19:32 9th-Jul-02 GMT #526-15591 Calm down Cliff! You'll give yourself an ulcer. What is it - PDT? Try some AToneatherapy to soothe yourself - works wonders (guaranteed). Lindsay on 19:39 9th-Jul-02 GMT #526-15592 Lee, I think you should try some also (along with a few Anadins). Lee on 20:56 9th-Jul-02 GMT #ce9-15593 Lindsay - I need more than a few anadin's at the moment. Not enough alcohol in the house unfortunately. donald on 22:08 9th-Jul-02 GMT #e46-15595 I do like the Clash and the first two albums cant be faulted but they did get worse the more albums they made (except Combat Rock which has some great moments). Triple album - unforgivable, definitely more Pink Floyd than punk. Having said that, at their best live they were hard to touch and they maintained their integrity througout, fighting tooth and nail to prevent their music being used to sell pairs of Jeans. Respect. The only true punk who'll never let you you down is on Graham Norton at 10.30 for those with C4 (sorry Julius). Mr John Lydon but he's still really Rotten. donald on 22:11 9th-Jul-02 GMT #e46-15596 Cliff, how many kids do you know through the internet? Bit worrying that one, and not liking the Clash. He seemed such a nice boy :) Hugh on 00:12 10th-Jul-02 GMT #690-15598 I'll always be grateful to The Clash. They where open to all types of music. I would never have listened to reggae without them. Shame on anyone who denies them. Having said that, each to his own - I never liked The Jam and still don't.
