Yeah Lindsey I did feel a bit old. Although there were quite a few people in their thirties and older. Got a bit worried when Green Day were looking for three people to go up and play. When they asked who could play guitar or bass by daugher stared waving her hands, shouting and pointing at me. Luckily they got the guy beside us up instead. Although he did get given a guitar for his trouble. By the way my daugher, Claire, downloaded a copy of Green Day doing a live cover of Teenage Kicks. The quality isn't to great though. RICK: '25 years listening to rock music' - fuck your ears must be sore by now!

Rick on 10:41 16th-Jul-02 GMT #2a9-15716
Yes - not to mention having dodgy knees after all that pogoing and bleeding fingers from playing air guitar all those years.

I cannot stand Ocean Colour Scene. Something about them - they're so worthy. The day we caught the train. I wish they'd fucked off on it and never come back. Wearing peaked hats like Dylan and Lennon around'65, you just knew their videos would have Vespas, Mini Coopers and respectful nods to the Italien Job. Everything in fact but a decent tune. By the ay Cliff, I liked Prefab Sprout's first album (the one where they're on a motorbike).+

As for knees..have I told you about mine yet....

ARTHUR: I would have to agree with you about Ocean Colour Scene. Terrible band. I have always thought that they sound a bit like some of Paul Wellers solo stuff and that is the kiss of death as far as I am concerned. Just got an email back from the promoters of the Derry Oasis gig and they said that Oasis are the ones who are arranging the support band and that they will not be adding any other acts. Pity would have been a great platform for The Undertones.

Sky Sports recently used 'Teenage Kicks' to promote their coverage of some under-20's international football tournament. Not sure I like the Undertones being used by Murdoch's evil News International empire.

Toyah is playing Calamity Jane at a local theatre later this year. Liked the sax in Careless Whisper by George Michael. Does that make me a wuzz as well. I expect Lindsay's photo of the ghosttrain to appear on the site so we can judge how scary it is. How's your back Arthur? Fully recovered (except for the knees). I hate Jamie Oliver the TV 'chef'. The idea that all of his family are probably earning more than me by simply appearing in the Sainsbury's commercials is even more annoying. Too many TV chefs/cookery programmes and not enough music IMO.

Donald's boring Ocean Colour Scene story. I was at a wedding a few years ago and they were staying in the same hotel so were sharing one of the bars with the wedding party. The singer was clearly pissed but social enough but that guitarist was something else. he sat in the corner with his stupid cloth cap and starting playing his guitar. He was so trying to look cool and arty man. What a total wan**r.Paul Weller was supposed to be arriving later but sadly my plan to firebomb his room and that of his little fan club OCS failed and I still live with the regret to this day.

George, glad to hear Toyah has almost reached Panto time, -God obviously doesnt like her very much despite doing his telly programs. Most annoying song ever has to be 'American Pie' P.S. Green Day definitely sound like SLF.

Cliff on 21:05 16th-Jul-02 GMT #bfb-15726
confirmed news regarding OldCastle....the 'tones are on around midnight, probably slightly later.

Arthur on 21:32 16th-Jul-02 GMT #29f-15727
Back is alright George (touchwood). Best quote I heard about OCS - 'They do pharmacetical cocaine, that's why they THINK they're a good band!'

Cliff on 21:37 16th-Jul-02 GMT #bfb-15728
Paul Wellers solo stuff, yawn yawn yawn.'Ever changing moods' is one I always turn off, it's sooooooooo boring! and 'you're the best thing' is just as painful.Get ready for a Dave R backlash, this is the only time he rears his head these days.

Cliff on 21:40 16th-Jul-02 GMT #bfb-15729
I saw OCS before the 'tones at Meath in 2000, I don't think my feet moved once.If they base themselves on Weller I'm starting to understand.I didnt mind the Jam although they were highly over-rated.Hows the back Arthur?
