Wilke, what tape format is the camera you have? If it's Hi8 OR something like that I have a great machine for copying to VHS, better than the camcorder. I wouldn't mind a copy of the tape also.

wilke on 16:16 27th-Jul-02 GMT #949-15912
dont know what the format is vinny will find out and let you know.

Well I arrived back in England at 1.30pm but have spent 5 hours at a free airshow in Sunderland this afternoon. Two excellent concerts. Was chatting to Paul til 5.30am on the Saturday morning and then to John til only 2.30 this morning. Glad Vinny's kids enjoyed it. Thought Alex or Derek were going to take them home. You could tell they were enjoying themselves. Band played 6 new songs. 3 which we already knew about.

George on 20:31 27th-Jul-02 GMT #38d-15914
The new songs are Touch, With a girl like you, I need yer love, Shutdown, Oh Please and Rough Escalator. Oh Please was written by Michael Bradley. JON is very impressed with it. It pokes fun at the BBC Groundforce program when they went to South Africa to do Nelson Mandella's garden and when U2 went to meet the pope and presented him with Rayban specs.

Alex slept like a baby on the journey from Galway to Limerick. He woke up just as we hit Limerick. The accommodation at Limerick for me, Derek and Cliff was above the changing room for he Undertones. Even had to pop downstairs to borrow some milk from them for a cup of tea. Liked the idea of going down at 2am to ask JON and Billy if they could keep the noise down. The oldcastle concert is not an outside festival apparently and there are only about 3 bands playing. Well 100 metres final is about to start.

Just back from a weeks holiday in the West coast (Scotland not the USA unfortunately). Surprsingly it didnt rain the whole time but it did have a good try. Glad the film and gigs went well, but more news, reviews. Give us the gen.

George on 23:38 27th-Jul-02 GMT #db2-15917
Both gigs were excellent. The size of the crowd In Limerick was possibly not as good as expected. The staff had put some tables and chairs on the dancefloor during the soundcheck. The crowd at Galway was bigger. Both crowds reacted very favourably to the new songs. I knew I was in for a good few days when Niall Quinn's wife and children were on my flight. Teesside airport only handles about 750,000 people a year, so you don't get held up by planes having to circle to get a landing slot and having to wait in queues to leave. Galway has a wonderful pedestrianised shopping area.

Both concerts had the Undertones coming on late. In fact the Undertones played both concerts on the Friday, with the Thursday gig not starting til after midnight. The band started with the singles You've got my number and Here comes the summer followed by Gotta Getta, Family Entertainment, new song 'Touch' and It's going to happen. I always take a break from dancing to Its' going to happen cos its just too fast for me. Dancing started again with Girls dont like it, continuing with Tearprrof and new song 'With a Girl like You' leading to the single Wednesday Week. Tearproof then led into I need yer love. My new t-shirt got an honourable mention by Michael before the band launched into Jimmy Jimmy.

George on 23:56 27th-Jul-02 GMT #db2-15921
After you left Galway Wilke your parking space was taken up by another Zafira! We thought you hadn't left. Still have your t-shirt in my bag. Anyway Jimmy Jimmy was followed by new song 'Shutdown' quickly followed by the best song Ash have ever released, i.e. Teenage Kicks. The slow romantic spot then followed with Julie Ocean and You're welcome. There was some nice looking ladies at both concerts as well. But being the professional fan I am I concentrated on events on the stage. Mind you I did notice on Thursday/Friday morning that Vinny had given up his day job of video taping and was actually in front of the band dancing. Don't give up your day job though Vinny!

George on 00:02 28th-Jul-02 GMT #db2-15922
True Confessions then led into Oh Please quickly followed by Male Model, which always goes down a storm. New song Rough Escalator followed. The last three songs were My perfect Cousin, I know a girl followed by my favourite Get Over You. There was six songs in the encore at Galway, I think only five in Limerick. Mars Bars, Billy's third , Smarter than U and Bittersweet were definitely played. Galway finished with Bittersweet. Can't remember the other(s). Managed to put a few more names to faces as well. The fan club is getting longer.

Vinny on 00:12 28th-Jul-02 GMT #d12-15923
Hi George, glad you a had a great time over here. I was very tempted to start driving to Oldcastle at 9pm tonight but the thoughts of the 3 hour drive put me off. I was gonna ring you WILKE and ask you did you wanna go!!I have no intention of dancing for any more than 5 or 6 songs, I'll leave that to the much fitter and younger Wilke and Cliff!! Talk soon, pleasure meeting you again George, you're a gent.

George on 00:15 28th-Jul-02 GMT #db2-15924
We did enquire about the new songs being released, more concerts etc. Depending upon who you spoke to in the band meant you got slightly different answers. The band are no longer with the promoter Solo and are keen on releasing the new stuff. I did hear that maybe 8 tracks would be released as a mini LP. I cheated Jackie with the plectrums. When I asked DON he only had a few and none spare so I went into Galway to buy some and then got him to use them during the Limerick soundcheck, so they have been used by Damian. I know it's been mentioned before but Paul is extremely approachable/sociable. The whole atmosphere both before, during and after the concert at Galway was brilliant particularly with all the extra family being there of Vinny, Wilke's better half, John's family.
