Musings
Is Morrissey not a pretentious prat? Never thought Undertones fans would go for the claptrap that guy comes out with. Johnny Marr had some fab tunes though. doninblack on 11:44 13th-Aug-02 GMT [www.rexfeatures.com/cgi-bin/rppshimg0] #8e3-16194 The caption for this link goes 'Do you think this backdrop is big enough?' Just as well Cliff's around now to do a better job! Check out the other pix, including the horrendous trendy dressers phase. Lee on 12:44 13th-Aug-02 GMT [msn.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,1-1060673,00.html] #64a-16195 Roy Keane's not doing himself any favours at the moment is he? Take a look at the tackle which, looking at the quotes, was rather premeditated. Rick on 14:37 13th-Aug-02 GMT #2a9-16196 Thank God for The Smiths in the dire music scene of the mid-80's. Morrissey's wit, word play, style and humour were a tonic against all those dark goth bands and cocktail lounge type bands. They were the really pretentious ones. The Queen is Dead IMO is one of the greatest albums of all time. So its easy for an Undertones fan to love The Smiths. p2 on 17:38 13th-Aug-02 GMT [news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2190656.stm] #08b-16197 Story on the BBC webpages about Adam Ant's court appearance, v entertaining. ('Stand and deliver,' indeed.) Lindsay on 18:10 13th-Aug-02 GMT #013-16198 Like the photo donin. Where was it taken? George on 18:11 13th-Aug-02 GMT #3a0-16199 Most TV commentators at the time assumed Roy Keane was out for revenge. Presumably the additional book sales will more than cover the cost of him being sued. He is a bit of a thug on the field but I'm sure most fans wouldn't mind him being in their team. I wouldn't want to spill his drink at an Undertones concert though. Lindsay on 18:23 13th-Aug-02 GMT #013-16200 Sorry, just realised you have to keep changing the letter at the end to see all 4 photos. Clearly one thing you could never accuse the Undertones of is being posers! (unlike Roy and Adam). Lindsay on 18:31 13th-Aug-02 GMT #013-16201 Has anyone tried getting into the chatroom? It's asking me to register like it did once before. Dominic on 20:07 13th-Aug-02 GMT #54f-16202 Luke thanks for the info. I've been away in Munich for the weekend, so I didn't make the chat room Lindsay! It all sounds a bit furtive for me!I much prefer looking from a distance and swooping for the odd comment every so often, but I'm always here - or in the pub. Went to the gym tonight for the first time since I ran the London Marathon - prompted by having to climb a 307 step tower in Munich, and realising I am now just fat, not fat and vaguely fit. I guess I'd have to stand at the back on Saturday - If I was going! Vinny on 21:31 13th-Aug-02 GMT #15f-16203 Alex and Donald: 'Accommodation' sorted for Sat!! Sorry I haven't been in touch but my Mother hasn't been well. Getting a wee bit better now. Looking forward to seeing you both. George on 21:33 13th-Aug-02 GMT #3ae-16204 I didn't see you taking part in the European Championships Dominic. Money permitting and no Undertones concert clashing I would love to be in Athens in 2004 for the Olympics. If only to watch the Marathon. I've sent some photos to CMoS. Has he defected to the Magazine site full time? Lindsay on 22:40 13th-Aug-02 GMT #d17-16205 He's going to be overrun with photos. I've sent mine today too. Dominic - try jogging to the pub, the prospect of a few pints makes all the hard work worth it and stops you feeling guilty when you get there. Jogging back afterwards might be a bit more tricky though!
