The Smiths and Undertones have lots in common - well written jangly guitar pop songs and wit as well. Wonder what would have said if Feargal appeared on stage with Gladioli sticking out his jeans?

Here are the times and line up for the main stage at Prehen this weekend. VAN_MORRISON_9.15pm-10.45pm. THE_WATERBOYS_7.15pm-8.45pm. DEACON_BLUE_5.45pm-7.00pm. THE_UNDERTONES_4.30pm-5.30pm. THE_4_OF_US_3.30-4.15_pm. THE_REVS_2.30pm-3.15pm. PAUL CASEY_1.30pm-2.15pm. Some of the acts on the Nerve Centre stage include: Mundy, Turn (Support act at Oldcastle), Desert Hearts, Pugwash, Clearshot, Berkeley, Fallout, Kidd Dynamo, Throat and Little Hooks. The main stage line up is a bit crap apart from The Undertones and The Revs. Perhaps with any luck one of Derrys more adept stone throwes will manage to land one right on Van Morrisons moaning face and do us all a favour. Should be a great day out for The Undertones though.

lindsay, got your tape, emmm, thanks!! What can I say, perfect boy band songs, good quality if you like that sort of thing.The 'b' side was blank, though.

Got the tape Lindsay. I find it hard to judge because it just isn't what I would listen to. The songs are put together well enough and have a nice sound to them but ultimately are a bit 'American' for me and lacked something to make them stand out. The 2nd track was the best IMO. By the end of the 2nd play through I kept thinking of Wanted, Dead or Alive (Is that Bon Jovi) for some reason. I'm glad the songs didn't descend into the boy band big chorus type of song anyway but overall I'd say if it were playing at home I wouldn't go out of my way to turn it off but equally I'm not going to rush to put it on. Sorry. Couldn't get into the single at all - worst track of the lot but that might be good given my feelings for singles and charts these days.
