Musings
George the Village hall is big enough for all of us, and thats all we really need - an exclusive for selected hard core fans and others invited to my 40th! Not sure the neighbours would like the noise that much though. Cliff on 19:06 10th-Sep-02 GMT #17c-16584 Seeing as the 'Teenage Kicks' film is doing the rounds again I mentioned it on some football websites, clubs relevant to where the film is being shown(Derby, Leicester, Sheff Wed, Arsenal)and got some interesting threads....... Cliff on 19:09 10th-Sep-02 GMT #17c-16585 ....from Leicester; 'Never better than De Mont 1981'...'Eeeh the stories I could tell you about the Undertones......Backstage on their first tour. Fergal jumping amongst the crowd to have/stop a fight a year or two later.'...'was at the same gig........superb...may well check out the movie.'. Cliff on 19:15 10th-Sep-02 GMT #17c-16587 and another one...'Is this going to be on general release as I live down in Norfolk and would love to see it? Thanks' donald on 19:39 10th-Sep-02 GMT #e46-16589 Cliff you should manage the band, you're always waving their flag-top man. Was at a stag do on saturday and met someone who has an office in the same building as Feargal. I tried to convince him that he should a) bow when he sees him and b)get some tapes of him singing/whistling around the building. I'm not holding my breath. Ernie on 19:50 10th-Sep-02 GMT #a96-16590 Cliff, a friend of mine followed the Undertones uk tour back then and recorded the band from the balcony of Leicester deMontfort hall, Retford Porterhouse and Sheffield Top Rank. I have mixing desk copies of several Irish tour dates Limerick, Omagh, Galway. Together we traded our collections across the USA when they toured there. Sadly, I lost all when the BPI(British Phonogram Industry) confiscated all from me after placing an advert in Sounds. Andy Ferguson warned me about it but I didn`t listen....... Jackie on 20:50 10th-Sep-02 GMT #81e-16591 That makes me sick. For Gods sake its just for the fans, no ones trying to make a living out of it (apart from the band of course but I'm sure they didnt mind!) At least I presume you werent making a living out of it! I've got about 20 'live recordings' of a famous US band from a bloke who went on to write books about REM- of course he didnt sell them to me of course! I think music should be available to those who want it. I copuldnt believe I was told in no uncertain terms not to use my camera at the Dublin gig last December. As if anyone would want to buy my crummy snaps! Ernie on 22:29 10th-Sep-02 GMT #441-16592 Jackie, there was no money made. We traded only and made a point of NEVER selling, tape for tape. One of the most exciting things to listen to was their first ever Radio One interview with John Tobler `Rock On` programme, Saturday 2pm weekly. When asked about Feargals musical ability, Mickey Bradley responded with `He won all these medals at the Feis in Derry`. To which Tobler responded..`Whats a feis?` John tried to explain but he NEVER got wind of it, at all! Ernie on 22:52 10th-Sep-02 GMT [www.bbc.co.uk/dna/place-nireland/A726428] #441-16593 Check out the following interesting chat...... Hugh on 01:20 11th-Sep-02 GMT #690-16594 Thanks everybody. Sympathies Vinny. Two questions. What does tssy mean and what's the difference between this and a chatroom?
