A great moment in English footbal as it was England also lost 1-0 at home to the Germans and scraped through in the last minute with a draw against Greece. I recall being a little sceptical of our chances and certainly didn't go along with any media hype. Again at the WC we had 1 good performance but it was easy to blame injuries for the performance. What I find hard to take is how comfortable every team we play is on the ball. We don't have 1 player like that. And as for a player that can run past anyone with the ball! Worryingly where are the kids coming through?

I heard from Gerry not long ago about the Moondogs releases. The sessions are almost ready to go. They were waiting for some notes from John Peel but Detour have them. The recording for the new album is done but it's looking like it will be February before it's released. It'll be worth the wait I think.

True Confessions is the best, esp. as it has such a great introduction. And its not too fast for oldies such as me. Tearproof is a good one, as you get a rest in the middle!

Lee I have been playing the TPE CD you sent me in the car none stop for weeks. Nearly all the songs on it are class-are most of them from LPs? I have Babble and End of Millenium..but theres so many songs I dont know. Are they album outtakes or what?

Just got back from holiday in Tenerife. Looking a nice Lobster red. Ill e mail you shortly Alex and donin. Weve not booked anywhere yet but better get the old finger out. Interestingly (or not) while waiting for 3 hours at the airport, I noticed that the 3 notes that preceeded each tannoy announcement were very similiar the the 4 notes at the start of Youve Got My Number. Did the genius strike John o Neill in an airport departure lounge? 3 gigs in next 3 weeks - Queens of the Stone Age, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion then ta ra..Morrisey. Very glad I couldnt make the Albert Hall gig last month cos hes playing Glasgow. Then The Undertones next Month. Looking good.

The cleaner at our school is off to Amsterdam this week-she is staying on the floating 'Boatel'-it sounds a laugh, but not if theres a swell. Judging by the photo it looks abit like a prison ship. I did ask her to make a note of any good bars she visited.

Jackie on 20:31 19th-Oct-02 GMT #81e-17112
Do you get a swell on canals? D'oh...

AlexD on 20:52 19th-Oct-02 GMT #12c-17113

Just got back from a venue where the gig had been cancelled at the last minute. Thankfully it was only 25 minutes away. Hopefully won't have any such problems in December. In the early 80's I did once travel 400 mile to St Austell, Cornwall only to find the Undertones gig had been cancelled.

Arthur on 02:02 20th-Oct-02 GMT #2b0-17118
Anything he got his hands on by the sounds of him. George Michael Ingham did goals for Sunderland today. a few more appearances and it's quids in for the pride of North Belfast, the mighty Cliftonville FC.
