Spent a very enjoyable evening with Steve last night at the Ian McNabb gig in deepest Wolverhampton. He played a solo set first for maybe 45 minutes and then 10 minutes later came on with an excellent band. They must have been on stage for close to 3 hours and the whole lot flew by and was excellent. It bought home to me how substantial his back catologue is and I can thoroughly recommend it to you all. In that 3 hours he managed to play only 3 tracks from his new album and failed to mention once that it was on sale in the building. It's not in the shops so as a marketing man I'd say he has a lot to learn but as a musician and writer of music I'd say he's up there with the best.

And if you do like him and have ever fancied standing on stage in front of 300 odd people brush up on your singing as he gives a few people a chance to get up and do a Stars in your eyes slot. Sounds a naff idea but went down well and worked.

I understand now - John Leslie is all over the tabloids today. Lee a mate of mine once played slide guitar for the Icilcle Works. I've always found Ian McNabb a bit too earnest.

sounds good scottie boy, thanks.

Another great frontman on tour (starting tonight in Sheffield) is Hugh Cornwell. His last two solo albums are as good as his Stranglers days, and his latest 3 piece line-up is great. If he's in your town I recommend going along. Check out the dates via the link above.

Ian McNabb.......Earnest!!!!!!!Never!!!!! Bloody Inspiring I'd Say, As Lee said the gig just flew by, which just shows you how immersed in a gig you can become. On drums was Matthew Priest formely of Dodgy who was stunning, as was the rest of the band, could'nt recommend it enough. Go if you can as this is the last tour McNabb will be able to do in a long time. Ditto for Cornwell as well, saw him solo back in may...What a charming man he was too.

Do you have to sing Ian McNab songs Lee or could the stars in their eyes slot include a couple of verses of Teenage Kicks

George on 21:35 24th-Oct-02 GMT #ac0-17207
A 3 hour slot. That could cover the entire Ubdertones back catalogue.

George on 21:38 24th-Oct-02 GMT #ac0-17208
Are you going to the Amsterdam gig Rick? I think you've mentioned in the past your gig days are over, so just look upon it as a weekend break with entertainment thrown in.

wilke on 22:31 24th-Oct-02 GMT #949-17209
arthur how are the amsterdam plans going??give me a ring.

Arthur on 00:15 25th-Oct-02 GMT #c00-17210
Hi Wilke - I probably won't be able to go now. Disappointed but there you go
