Sorry George but I have to pick you up on this Sunderland thing.Sunderland supporters should celebrate the fact that they are IN the premiership, not get upset that their not in the top 7 or 8....in my lifetime(41 glorious years)Sunderland have spent much more time out of the top division than in it and as you told me yourself they only get good crowds coz season tickets cost peanuts.

I'll agree with George on the view that it is only the overseas players that look comfortable on the ball. I had hoped many years ago that the influx of overseas players would help our quality of football but it just hasn't happened. I think our schools and academies still have a lot of work to do in breaking down this playing at 100mph mentality. Yes it can be exciting and I'd hate to lose the excitement from the game but there has to be a balance that matches excitement with good quality football.

I must admit that for most of my life Sunderland have played crap, with only the odd glimmer of hope to keep you hanging on. Can you imagine though what we would do if our favourite band played crap week in week out, possibly playing Billy on bass, Michael on drums etc (i.e. out of position) Would we still go back loyally to the next gig, or would we eventually call it quits and follow another band (for band substitute the words sport, or heaven bid a rival team).

We cant have Morrissey feeeling happy, itjust wouldnt be right without the paranoia, low esteem and Gladioli. Off to vist daughter at Uni this w/e. Shes very upset after discovering that 2 of her friends mainly listen to 70's punk including the Undertones. there definitely does seem to be a younger group at the recent gigs. Dont quite know how they got into a group that split before most of them were born but its a great thing (even if my daughters still not convinced my musical taste is anything other than old fart rock - but I wouldnt want it any other way).
