Went to see a couple of local punk bands last night, one of whom played Teenage Kicks at a speed I think the Undertones would struggle to keep up with. They seemed to alternate between the equivalent of playing 33rpm records at 45 rpm (the slower songs!) and 45rpm records at 78 rpm (very fast). Got the chance to follow up the Undertones concert with the Angelic Upstarts on Sunday night. Will probably chicken out and settle for a concert in Jackie's town. Where is the Clock (pub) in Hebburn Jackie.

Hi all - really looking forwad to the gig next week. I want to bring Martha's nephew and his mate but they are U18. Will they get in ok? George, years ago I saw the Angelic Upstarts record a live album at Abbey Road studios. They had to record it there because the publicity was that they were banned everywhere else! After about 10 minutes I got bored and me and a mate wandered around the place, meeting the Gang of 4 who despite their Marxist, proeletarian protensions tried to throw us out!

George, Have a good one in Dublin. We expect in-depth reports of the sound check, layout of the dressing room etc. The gig would be good too. As you're planning to 'do a Derek' and stay up all night, try Leason Street, home of the 24 hour wine bars. You may be forced to eat a burger for the privilege but it'll be worth it. I once got so wrecked there I fell asleep in a toilet for an hour, and woke up with no idea where I was. Dublin seems to have a strange effect on people.

Have to confess to having an unhealthy amount of Angelic Upstarts in the record collection.They sound very dated now but did have great energy at the time. Thanks for the reminder Stote007 (much better than stote 02). Definitely gig of the year. If no Undertones allowed , next best was Queens of the Stone Age at Glasgow. Best Album Death in Vegas 'Scorpio Rising', Best single, Eminem 'Without me', Best film 'Mulholland Drive ' (was that 2002 - Rick our film fan will hopefully confirm). Heres to the Undretones album and DVD release in 2003.

Does anyone know whohandles the bookings at The Nerve Centre, Derry. Anyone listening to Gerry Anderson show recently would have heard tracks from P.P. Slaggarts debut album `Tales from the Whiskey Town` - we are keen to organise a Derry gig to promote the album in the New Year. Any one know anything about the venue?
