stote007, you forgot to mention the lush green meadows, the warm hospitality and friendly banter, the excellent cuisine... I could go on forever.

My loudest eardrum splitting experience was actually at a soundcheck. The Ramones were in town so I crept into the Odeon and parked myself on the back row, hoping to catch a preview of da bruvvers in action. My apparent comfort was soon to be shattered by the sound engineer sticking a Motorhead album on and blasting it out at full volume (definitely at 11). After about half an hour of pain (my head was splitting and my ears felt like they were bleeding) I couldn't take any more - I just had to get out of the place. Stuff meeting the band. I like noise but this was way over the top. The gig later didn't seem quite so loud, but that was probably cos I was still in lip reading mode. In general, gigs seem to be not so loud these days.

Quietest gig was The Adverts at Coleraine NUU - cos they didn't turn up. They decided to do Top of the Pops instead. Very punk rock. Not my favourite band. However, due to their non appearance we got the 'disco' to end all discos, with every punk classic you could think of. A great night of pogoing, and no need to worry about having to ask a girl to dance. Great! Pogoing was the perfect adolescent male's dance.

wilke are you trying to beat Cliffs posting tally? I was ahead of you once- not any more! Did you see the teachers are having a moan again in the press? I had two local newspapers ring me today asking me to comment on why so many teachers are leaving. I told our secretary to tell them I'd left!

Jackie on 19:26 7th-Jan-03 GMT #81e-18707

£16 for a Celtic shirt. Did one of their players not come with it. Of course Jackie your dad could have bought it when they decided to sample Newcastle hospitality in December. I got one of Billy's drumsticks at Rotterdam. In fact I got both but was asked by the bassist in the male support band for one. I found out the following night he had given it away to a female. I could have given it away to a female myself. I also have a signed Undertones drumskin as well. Can't remember who's signed it as it at my mams' house.

wilke on 21:33 7th-Jan-03 GMT #001-18712

Over the New Year period I had a dream (a bit of a nightmare really) that I was at an Undertones gig. The venue seemed to be in south London somewhere. I didn't recognise it but it was a pain to get to. There were only about 50 people there and most of them weren't interested in anything except drinking by the bar in a room adjacent to the stage. Feargal sung the first song (didn't recognise it but it did seem to name the band in the lyrics several times). Paul was just standing at the side of the stage, looking bemused. After this first song the whole band walked off of the stage and into the (small) audience. No one looked very happy. Then they just left. No one seemd in a good mood or interested in what was going on. The floor was very slippery and the whole place wasn't very warm. What does this mean??!!

I need to get out more...
