He laughed and said...'and I've got a cousin called Kevin'. doninblack on 10:27 14th-Jan-03 GMT #ec7-18856 Jackie, I'm with you on Chic. Superb bass lines. I even admit to having a Chic greatest hits CD, which is great if you're in the right mood. Chic were cool, sadly The Bee Gees looked like camp hair dressers. Rick on 12:17 14th-Jan-03 GMT #2a9-18875 Donald - Amii Stewart did the disco version of 'Knock on Wood' not Donna Summer - Disco Rick. Best Bee Gees song is 'You Should be Dancing' but I'm with Julius on the whole Bee Gees/SNF thing. It was the first 18 movie I sneaked in to see when I was 15 and, music apart, its quite a gritty movie. I agree with Julius about Mickey Finn also. Where would all those T.Rex hits be without his bongo playing (never could hear them myself). Does his influence mean you're a great bongo player Julius ? Arthur on 13:47 14th-Jan-03 GMT #013-18894 Poor old Micky Finn, never even knew he passed away. What about 'Going Back to my Roots' - by Odyssey (I tyhink) killer disco song and bass line. As for Chic - there's no doubting their brilliance. wilke on 18:25 14th-Jan-03 GMT #7ee-18896 so this is were all the disco fans went?.phone an add today about getting the undertones at the nerve center put on to dvd from tape £25 a tape not a hope in hell Lewis on 18:30 14th-Jan-03 GMT #e5c-18897 Cliff cheque your e-mail Jackie on 18:53 14th-Jan-03 GMT #81e-18898 Glad I sparked a bit of discussion on disco! Yes Lindsay, I never saw SNF until very recently when it was on TV. I was far too young even for Grease (just fibbing- saw that 3 times!) Can't think why it had such a high cert. though apart from a bit swearing. Grease had more inuendo and rude language, but of course none of us babies knew what was going on. I never really liked the Beegees at the time either, as it was my dad who played SNF to death. It was the only 'pop' he liked apart, being a classical music fan! The disco song that had the greatest influence on me was 'I Feel Love' by Donna Summer. I first heard it on the radio in a department store, had no idea who it was but knew I loved it. It was so different. Its still one of my fave ever records, and is brilliant to dance to. Jackie on 19:00 14th-Jan-03 GMT #81e-18899 Kevin Rowland was ugly I agree. But Duran Duran were yuk- too much make up! Lindsay- thanks for the email. I got my photos back today from Amsterdam. I'll send some of the best ones to CMoS but I reckon he will have enough by now. Ernie @ on 19:39 14th-Jan-03 GMT [www.ruefrex.co.uk] #efb-18901 Lewis, as anew board member and one with a 40th birthday next month I`d only be to glad to give you The Undertones set list from Nerve Centre gig 2001 which was given to me by Dee O`Neill. Its genuine, just send me your address if you want it, I don`t! stote007 on 21:36 14th-Jan-03 GMT #176-18903 Have to join the Kevin Rowland (mini) debate. The man is clearly a genius - Don't Stand Me Down is IMO in the top 5 albums of all time. Dressing up in lassie's clothes merely confirmed the fine line between genius and idiocy and I'm prepared to admit that he has crossed that line recently, but don't forget, he briefly shared a record label with our very own Damian O'Neill. wilke on 22:54 14th-Jan-03 GMT #12e-18904 hi .ITS DEBORAHS [VINNY BETTER HALF]BIRTHDAY TOMORROW SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHE`S THAT LITTLE BIT OLDER THATS WHY THE POSTING SO BIG HER EYE SIGHT BEGINNING TO GO ANYWAY DEBORAH HAVE A GREAT DAY TSSY Lindsay on 23:03 14th-Jan-03 GMT #410-18905 Happy Birthday for tomorrow Deborah. Don't worry, you will always be much younger than me (and Cheeky Wilke!) 'He is a cheeky boy....' God that song's dreadful, surprised it's not up for a Brit. Cactus on 00:06 15th-Jan-03 GMT #50a-18906 Doninblack - sad to hear Spuds has gone. Not that it really fitted in Portstewart. It would have been better placed in the windiest place on Earth, seedy Portrush. I spent two years in a pub quiz team in Spuds; the only round we ever got all ten questions right in was on prisons. Cactus on 00:11 15th-Jan-03 GMT #50a-18907 Xdreamysts - waders, fishing-rods, punks, long hair or not, they give a small but welcome boost to any record collection's 'X Section', (along with X-ray Spex and XTC). Are there any other X bands? Xndertones anyone?? (Pronounced Zen-der-tones or X-nder-tones I wonder?) That's not funny in the slightest, sorry. Cactus on 00:15 15th-Jan-03 GMT #50a-18908 Lindsey - I hate Come on Eileen too. One of the worst ten records ever and the worst student disco song there is. Hate it hate it hate it hate it hate it. Worst song ever is Stairway to Heaven. Cactus on 00:23 15th-Jan-03 GMT #50a-18909 Heard Teenage Kicks on the radio on Monday. It was on the radio (Virgin I think) mid-morning. I was in a meeting at work with someone and insisted we listened to it. As I'm sure almost everyone who hears an Undertones song stops what they are doing to give it the full attendtion it deserves, I expect the playing of Undertones tracks could serious damage the economy of a country and probably should be covered by some sort of arms treaty. I'm sure even as I write George W is buying up thousands of Undertones albums to drop on Iraq for this very reason. Cactus on 00:23 15th-Jan-03 GMT #50a-18910 I think I better go to bed, as I think I need the sleep.
