Has Damian been replaced in your affections Lindsay by a Dreamboy lookalike? I know he's a year older now. Have you had some input into the chatroom on the updated official site Liam?

The official site was up until now maintained by Dave Richings. I have been asked by Billy Doherty to do a complete revamp of the site. Myself and Vinny have been working on this and we have been in touch with Dave. The new site should hopefully be up and running in around 2 to 3 weeks. Will keep you all posted on developments.

Not sure about the age thing. There are plenty of 'old' rock stars that manage to keep up with the times and keep writing interesting music - Joe Strummers output at 50 was still excellent. The Stones IMO have to be the best example of where it all goes wrong - forget albums Steve - when was the last time they wrote a decent new song? If the Undertones had come back and simply played the same circuits playing the same songs every other year I wouldn't be interested. I'd go once for the novelty memory lane bit and that would be it. I'm so pleased that they haven't gone down that route.

Lee on 12:50 17th-Jan-03 GMT #64a-19028
Got loads of Stephen Duffy stuff if you're interested Steve. Have you heard Paradise Circus? A few years back it was in the top 10 in America I think of the best ever albums that never sold. I never play that 1st album any more as it's on vinyl - must transfer it to the pc so I can give it a listen.

Talk about a dream gig! Take a look at the Moondogs site guestbook and the answer from Gerry when I made up some news that maybe the Undertones and Moondogs might ever play together again - Well Lee it has happened loads of times before and I am sure it will happen loads of times again. Now that would be the highlight of the year.

On the subject of wrinklie rockers, I went to see the Rolling Stones at Wembley about 8 years ago expecting it to be a pantomine, old boys going through the motions etc. I came away completely converted. Itwas stripped down pure Rock n Roll and they can really get a crowd going like no one else. What else could they do except play til they drop, when they sing 'Its only rock n roll but I like it' they really mean it - respect. Also Keith Richards flicking cigarattes across the stage is the coolest thing I have ever witnessed.Look forward to checking out the new fficial site.

I saw Rolling Stones at St James Park in 1982 on their 'farewell' tour! It was the only stadium gig I've ever been to and apart from being too quiet it was excellent.I remember the same year they were on the front of the Face magazine and the headline was 'Stones walk into their third decade'. To my mind they have outlived their usefulness, but you cannot knock their ability, committment or back catalogue. 300% times better than the Beatles could ever be!IMO!

And 'Beggars Banquet' LP is still brilliant. Guess who got me into that??

AlexD on 18:03 17th-Jan-03 GMT #426-19033

St James Park is always quiet Jackie...no passion you Geordies.

Steve on 21:18 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19038
I think one of the main problems with old rockers is that they don't know anything else, they have always been on the tour/album treadmill and it becomes their way of life. The difference with the likes of Joe Strummer was that despite a long lay off in the 90's he came back with a fresh approach, his style of 'World' music if you like, which did'nt trade on old glories and good stuff it is too...Johnny Appleseed, Yalla Yalla....good stuff....Even John O'Neill and Damien kept on progressing Rare and A Quiet Revelotion could'nt be more further away from the 'tones.....not so sure that the going back to the 'tones is progressing....

Steve on 21:30 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19039
The other thing is, the likes of the Stones/Elton John ect.....Is that they are loaded and everyday life is no longer a struggle, the same thing that fired them years ago has left them.

Steve on 21:30 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19040
Rod Stewart's last l.p for Mercury was dire, In an interview with him about it the Jurno asked him what it was like collaberrating with the people who wrote most of the songs on the L.P, He replied I don't know , I never met any of them, the backing tracks got sent over to me in L.A and I went into the studio and put my vocals down in a couple of days...How Heartfelt is That!!!! No suprise that Mercury dropped him after years 30 years as they finally cottened on that his most recent l.p's had been selling less and less, yet they still owned the back catalogue of the early to late 70's that still sold fairly well, why continue to lash out money on dissapointing returns? Have you heard some of his latest l.p....Awful crooning by the man....If it's good for Robbie Williams it's good for me , I think was his reasoning.. Rod would be better of doing a laid back acoustic blues album something to which his voice is suited...

Steve on 21:36 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19041
I Still think Rod has a great voice, the early L.P's like Gasoline Alley and the Jeff Beck Group l.p's Truth and Beck-ola (Which Rod Hates!)are really good, It's just not put to good use. Even Chris Rea (Whom I despise) has probablly put out the finest L.P of his career, no longer surrounded by A & R guys and record company pressure, he's done an l.p of his take on the blues...Something he always wanted to do but was never allowed. Still cannot stomach him but it is much more listenable than Road to hell!!

Steve on 21:38 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19042
Lee.......m I'M Intrested in hearing more Stephen Duffy....Got A good They Might Be Giants C.D to send to you...

Steve on 21:43 17th-Jan-03 GMT #476-19043
Jackie...Agree that Beggars is a great l.p but that was from 1968.....Like I say the last good Stones l.p for me was Exile and at a push Some Girls which was 1978!!! Since then the L.P's have featured possibly one decent song and the rest.....you can take or leave... Undercover was a good song ...Start Me Up as well but what since then?

Julius on 22:42 17th-Jan-03 GMT #b1a-19046
In my humble opinion the stones didnt write a decent song since 72 they should have split back then and only reform if they had something really new like new, great songs, which decent bands do. Going to a stones gig these days is just the same like visiting disney world or so. It is just entertainment, nothing to do with rock. A nephew of mine was drummer on their last tour: backstage they have got some extra musicians to add to the sound, they probably need it and that says it all in my opinion. Punk started in 77 to rebel against all these mega-acts, like the stones, who do not care for fans but just play for their own good. Well, I know I am a bit oversensitive concerning the stones but they represent everything that is wrong in rockmusic: the way people here in Holland had to get tickets is just a form of legal robbery(join the fanclub first)

Julius on 22:45 17th-Jan-03 GMT #b1a-19047
Well, great news concerning the Moondogs, looks like we have got some good gigs to look forward to

AlexD on 04:25 18th-Jan-03 GMT #96d-19049
Have you heard any of the new songs Steve?
