I've been resigned to Sunderland being relegated this season from the disastrous pre-season friendlies. The only hope being that we finish above WBA. Who the bloody hell supports WBA except dodgy comedians like Frank Skinner! My children have been to more games this season than me. What have they done to deserve that punishment. Most where organised by the school. Is it a plot by teachers to exact revenge.

I read Mr Sringsteen is going to perform with the reaminder of the Clash at the hall of fame thingy, apparently he's a fan.

donald on 11:47 18th-Feb-03 GMT #970-19536
Hope the Springsteen and Clash rumour is just that.Joe strummer would be turning in his grave.

Cliff on 14:31 18th-Feb-03 GMT #a6c-19537
...and who 'supports' Sunderland when they start to struggle? certainly not the 35-40,000 they like to tell us.If they stay down for a few seasons they'll probably return to the loyal 15,000 of 7/8 years ago.

..the Swingers Resort from Boston/USA did a 7' in 1981 called 'Rockets & Love', sounds like early 'Tones stuff. I love it and put it online here for you... http://boredteen77.free.fr/swingersresort.mp3 ...I'm looking for the 'A wicked good time' compilation Lp for their only other song on vinyl..

Roger @ on 17:05 18th-Feb-03 GMT [lesundertones.free.fr] #9ea-19540
..the song is not called 3rockets & love' but 'Rockets & Rose'! (sorry!)

Lindsay on 17:27 18th-Feb-03 GMT #091-19541
Not bad Roger. Don't think it sounds like the Undertones but it does sound like a lot of other bands of the same era.

Roger @ on 17:42 18th-Feb-03 GMT [lesundertones.free.fr] #016-19542
I don't agree with you Lindsay... and what are 'the other bands' who sounds like S.Resort?

Jackie on 18:34 18th-Feb-03 GMT #6ce-19543
Cliff there are not 15000 people in the whole of Sunderland. Sunderland used to be Britains biggest town. It is now Britains smallest city. Doing geography the other day I knew I was failing when one of my class asked 'Is Sunderland in Newcastle then miss?' Then again , maybe I had succeeded!

Jackie on 18:37 18th-Feb-03 GMT #6ce-19544
..Yes Lindsay I am going to see the FABULOUS REM in Manchester. Getting SICK of waiting around for the Undertones to announce anything. I'm hoping to get down the front and chuck a carton of yogurt over Peter Buck!

wilke on 19:15 18th-Feb-03 GMT #8a9-19545
not a bad song roger but i think they sound a bit like the starjets.tssy

Lee @ on 19:24 18th-Feb-03 GMT #266-19546
Wilke - the cd's turned up. I can copy it for you but need your address. I did try to email you - not sure if you got it.

George on 22:18 18th-Feb-03 GMT #384-19549
I'm disappointed in your Geography Jackie. I know you have seen the Undertones in a smaller city than Sunderland less than 20 miles away from where you live, i.e. Durham. Don't suppose the Undertones will be playing Butlins in Skegness on the August Bank Holiday. Looks like that is going to be my holiday highlight this year.

wilke on 22:21 18th-Feb-03 GMT #8a9-19550
thanks lee i have just sent you my address .jackie i saw rem at slane a few years ago one of the best gigs i`ve ever been to talk soon see ya

wilke on 22:23 18th-Feb-03 GMT #8a9-19551
george dont worry me maureen and the kids are going to butlins in soctland let the good times roll

Cliff on 23:28 18th-Feb-03 GMT #cbd-19552
I was working in Vladivostock when REM released 'whats the frequency Kenneth'...it was played frequently on MTV which was my only link with civilization. That song will always be a favourite with me.

Vinny on 23:40 18th-Feb-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #1a3-19553
Jackie and co: You'll not have to wait much longer.......

doninblack on 23:51 18th-Feb-03 GMT #1db-19554
Cliff, that's the best sentence opener I've read for a long time. Were you doing hard labour?

doninblack on 23:59 18th-Feb-03 GMT #1db-19555
Vinny, I hope some dates (or even a few clues) are announced soon. I can't keep up my apparent disinterest in summer holidays much longer. I'll be sussed out if I make a late change of mind and decide on a weekend in Stoke on Trent.
