Stuttgart, is that where the Undertones are playing or are you saying theyve got a football team? why did the game KO at 8.30?

I remember early 2000 when I got this computer for the first time.I'd been working abroad, recently married and decided to settle in England again.The Undertones were my favourite band although I always felt i was fighting a lone battle in keeping their name alive.You NEVER heard their music on the radio or any where else, no, it was only me in the whole world that still loved the Undertones.

Then just before midnight I found this website, I got goose pimples all through me.I told Doina to go to bed as I'd have to skip a nights sleep, I found this 'talk' page which had about 10 messages left on it in 3 months! I read a story by CR about his first Undertones gig which had me in tears, and then I discovered the 'News' page which informed me of something I'd never dreamed possible, the Undertones recently played a couple of gigs in Derry(november 1999)..UNBELIEVABLE!! I was gutted I hadnt bought the computer a few months earlier but then it mentioned another gig in Derry on June 2nd,and I started counting the days...

I contacted all the people who had left messages on here to see if they would be interested in t-shirts, CR sent me a tatty original 'classic' design shirt which I copied...it was like being a teenager again(I only need half an excuse).It all seems a long time ago now, so much has happened in a short space of time, but without the enthusiasm of this website I dont think the Undertones would have moved forward as they have done...that alone is good enough for me and should be for all of us on here(except Anna ;-))

You're right Cliff. Without CMOS where would we and the band be now? I hereby nominate CMOS as the inaugural Rocking Humdinger of the Month! And if he's too modest to do a write up on himself, then I nominate you Cliff to do one for him! You can be RHotM #2!

Agreed, Donin but young Cliffy deserves some praise too. He was the one who kept things moving with his enthusiasm.

Fully agree with Doninblack last comment: without Colin none of us would have met, no great gigs, no great chats etc, no friendships. Just visited the new site: it really looks great: I like all the sections, great history and espcially admire the way the site has been built using all these computertricks, you guys go ways beyond my computerknowledge, Great job Vinny and Liam!!!

2nd life begins in mid to late '30's then. Like Cliff's story lately I've been remembering the time I found this site and my interest in music seemed to take off again. This week I've been learning about FTP software and found these strange new sites or people that have made available 16bit stereo files not MP3. It's a whole new world and I keep remembering back maybe just 2 or 3 years ago. I am fairly sure I discovered this site and Napster within a month of each other. Now (being careful not to attract any unwanted police attention) I have a set of discs with over 5,000 legally obtained of course MP3 files. I have friends from all over England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Holland all of who seem to have the same interests at heart and for the most part seem to think the same way and even if they don't seem perfectly happy at accepting everyone else's opinions. All of who are generous and want to share these interests to the point of paying their own money to send things to each other.

Through this site I'm indebted to CMoS for his link to the Moondogs site and then to Julius for telling me of the Tv21 site and so I've contacted and become friends with 2 of my heroes from the '80's - both of who I might add went up in my estimation of them by just being perfectly normal people more than happy to spend a lot of time answering questions from a fanatic about something that happened 20 years ago to them which they might have wanted to forget as they have moved on. Now of course the fanatical questions have moved on and I regard them as my friends. There is room for 2 sites and just like I have never deleted the Napster icon from my desktop even though I doubt I shall ever use it again this will always be the site I visit every lunchtime at work almost religiously. I just have to fit another site in now. Thanks CMoS and Liam - long may the good work continue.

What the.....!!!!! I just signed in as an official humdinger and came back here and it's all changed. Is this a new styule or is this something to do with what I've just done on the official site? Am I going mad?

And now I know about the March dates! Wow - need to know the time the band will be on stage. Get this you lot for good timing - a 40th birthday - and by sheer coincidence a local election so the kids are told to take a day off school so the whole family can take a well deserved day out together, followed next day by a night out with 8 very good and dear friends of ours and some serious drinking, followed next day by probably a very nice meal out - just me and the wife - followed next day by not only an Albion win v Chelsea but a quick dash after the match to a free Undertones gig in London. Couldn't be planned better - unless the Moondogs were also on the bill of course.

Damn - hopes dashed - just went to the festival website - singing and dancing until 6pm. Can't get there - and can't face telling the lad he can't go to the Baggies. Oh well - you can't have everything I guess. Maybe Holland or Germany later in the year.

I still can't get into the chatroom for the official site and I couldn't get into the chatroom Liam was running before. Can someone tell me, in English and not loads of computerspeak what the problem is.

Arthur you need to have jave enabled in your browser. Normally it comes enabled - if you are really stuck just go to microsoft and download the latest version of internet explorer
