Attention,Attention. Derry calling , Derry Calling The official has been launched, I repeat the official site has been launched. www.theundertones.com. Let us know what you think of it. Billy Doherty (Drummer The Undertones) Billy Doherty (Drummer The Undertones) @ on 18:38 21st-Feb-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #ddb-19619 To Doninblack. Don't panic, dont't panic. We will do dates this year in the UK and Scotland or else I will eat Vinny's socks (I'm going to be sick just thinking on it). The band really want to play as many dates as we can. I would love to play Glasgow, Manchester (especially if the boys are at old trafford), Newcastle, Leeds, London and Cardiff. Thanks for the comments about the site. Vinny and Liam as did Dave Richings put alot of effort into the new site and I can't thank them enough. Please let us know what you would like to see on the Official site. We will try to keep the site fresh and current and of course we will post any dates etc. All the best Billy Doherty (Drummer The Undertones) Cliff on 08:22 21st-Feb-03 GMT #71b-19620 Stuttgart, is that where the Undertones are playing or are you saying theyve got a football team? why did the game KO at 8.30? Cliff on 08:36 21st-Feb-03 GMT #71b-19621 I remember early 2000 when I got this computer for the first time.I'd been working abroad, recently married and decided to settle in England again. The Undertones were my favourite band although I always felt i was fighting a lone battle in keeping their name alive. You NEVER heard their music on the radio or any where else, no, it was only me in the whole world that still loved the Undertones. Cliff on 08:37 21st-Feb-03 GMT #71b-19622 Then just before midnight I found this website, I got goose pimples all through me.I told Doina to go to bed as I'd have to skip a nights sleep, I found this 'talk' page which had about 10 messages left on it in 3 months! I read a story by CR about his first Undertones gig which had me in tears, and then I discovered the 'News' page which informed me of something I'd never dreamed possible, the Undertones recently played a couple of gigs in Derry(november 1999)..UNBELIEVABLE!! I was gutted I hadnt bought the computer a few months earlier but then it mentioned another gig in Derry on June 2nd,and I started counting the days... Cliff on 08:44 21st-Feb-03 GMT #71b-19623 I contacted all the people who had left messages on here to see if they would be interested in t-shirts, CR sent me a tatty original 'classic' design shirt which I copied...it was like being a teenager again(I only need half an excuse). It all seems a long time ago now, so much has happened in a short space of time, but without the enthusiasm of this website I dont think the Undertones would have moved forward as they have done...that alone is good enough for me and should be for all of us on here(except Anna ;-)) doninblack on 10:13 21st-Feb-03 GMT #ec7-19624 You're right Cliff. Without CMOS where would we and the band be now? I hereby nominate CMOS as the inaugural Rocking Humdinger of the Month! And if he's too modest to do a write up on himself, then I nominate you Cliff to do one for him! You can be RHotM #2! Arthur on 11:58 21st-Feb-03 GMT #7d5-19625 Agreed, Donin but young Cliffy deserves some praise too. He was the one who kept things moving with his enthusiasm. Julius on 12:21 21st-Feb-03 GMT #532-19626 Fully agree with Doninblack last comment: without Colin none of us would have met, no great gigs, no great chats etc, no friendships. Just visited the new site: it really looks great: I like all the sections, great history and espcially admire the way the site has been built using all these computertricks, you guys go ways beyond my computerknowledge, Great job Vinny and Liam!!! Lee on 12:53 21st-Feb-03 GMT #64a-19627 2nd life begins in mid to late '30's then. Like Cliff's story lately I've been remembering the time I found this site and my interest in music seemed to take off again. This week I've been learning about FTP software and found these strange new sites or people that have made available 16bit stereo files not MP3. It's a whole new world and I keep remembering back maybe just 2 or 3 years ago. I am fairly sure I discovered this site and Napster within a month of each other. Now (being careful not to attract any unwanted police attention) I have a set of discs with over 5,000 legally obtained of course MP3 files. I have friends from all over England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Holland all of who seem to have the same interests at heart and for the most part seem to think the same way and even if they don't seem perfectly happy at accepting everyone else's opinions. All of who are generous and want to share these interests to the point of paying their own money to send things to each other. Lee on 12:57 21st-Feb-03 GMT #64a-19628 Through this site I'm indebted to CMoS for his link to the Moondogs site and then to Julius for telling me of the Tv21 site and so I've contacted and become friends with 2 of my heroes from the '80's - both of who I might add went up in my estimation of them by just being perfectly normal people more than happy to spend a lot of time answering questions from a fanatic about something that happened 20 years ago to them which they might have wanted to forget as they have moved on. Now of course the fanatical questions have moved on and I regard them as my friends. There is room for 2 sites and just like I have never deleted the Napster icon from my desktop even though I doubt I shall ever use it again this will always be the site I visit every lunchtime at work almost religiously. I just have to fit another site in now. Thanks CMoS and Liam - long may the good work continue. Lee on 13:07 21st-Feb-03 GMT #64a-19629 What the.....!!!!! I just signed in as an official humdinger and came back here and it's all changed. Is this a new styule or is this something to do with what I've just done on the official site? Am I going mad? CMoS on 13:13 21st-Feb-03 GMT #296-19630 whoops CMoS on 13:16 21st-Feb-03 GMT #a5b-19631 Sorry Lee, i felt i had to something, all these mentions of me name and I'm just sitting around wonderign if its stopped raining yet Lee on 13:16 21st-Feb-03 GMT #64a-19632 And now I know about the March dates! Wow - need to know the time the band will be on stage. Get this you lot for good timing - a 40th birthday - and by sheer coincidence a local election so the kids are told to take a day off school so the whole family can take a well deserved day out together, followed next day by a night out with 8 very good and dear friends of ours and some serious drinking, followed next day by probably a very nice meal out - just me and the wife - followed next day by not only an Albion win v Chelsea but a quick dash after the match to a free Undertones gig in London. Couldn't be planned better - unless the Moondogs were also on the bill of course. Lee on 13:18 21st-Feb-03 GMT #64a-19633 Damn - hopes dashed - just went to the festival website - singing and dancing until 6pm. Can't get there - and can't face telling the lad he can't go to the Baggies. Oh well - you can't have everything I guess. Maybe Holland or Germany later in the year. Vinny on 16:06 21st-Feb-03 GMT #1a3-19634 I thought I was standing upside down for a while then I realised I was.... AlexD on 16:53 21st-Feb-03 GMT #e53-19635 What's it like being at the top of a table Cliff, 8.30 ko to suit German TV apparently. Great result for the Bhoys, faith is restored!! Cliff on 18:28 21st-Feb-03 GMT #a2e-19636 being top of the 'post tally' table is not something to be taken seriously, bit like the SPL really ;-) AlexD on 18:33 21st-Feb-03 GMT #9f4-19637 mmm bottom of the EPL must be a barrel of laughs! I thought it was great performance by a 'one man team' when he wasn't even playing. wilke on 18:53 21st-Feb-03 GMT #8a9-19638 at last i got on to the new web site vinny /liam f:*&^$% great stuff.vinny& deborha enjoy your night out tssy Lee on 19:01 21st-Feb-03 GMT #266-19639 Looks like gigs in England are on the agenda - but where's Birmingham on the list Billy? Arthur on 19:24 21st-Feb-03 GMT #e25-19640 I still can't get into the chatroom for the official site and I couldn't get into the chatroom Liam was running before. Can someone tell me, in English and not loads of computerspeak what the problem is. Vinny on 19:59 21st-Feb-03 GMT #1a3-19641 JAVA, Arthur, JAVA wilke on 20:27 21st-Feb-03 GMT #8a9-19642 arthur i think vinnys right i could not get in to the old chat room but then my pc crash after i got it fix i cant get in to anything now talk soon see ya Cliff on 20:51 21st-Feb-03 GMT #a2e-19643 Great to hear it Billy, although the boys have already played at OT this season so youre to late for that.(James Nesbitt and myself were there ;-)) Liam @ on 20:52 21st-Feb-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #fdf-19644 Arthur you need to have jave enabled in your browser. Normally it comes enabled - if you are really stuck just go to microsoft and download the latest version of internet explorer CMoS on 21:03 21st-Feb-03 GMT #f56-19645 Uhm .. bottom feeding Liam @ on 21:06 21st-Feb-03 GMT #fdf-19646 If you are having difficulties getting into the new chat room this should sort it out. You may disabled a specific feature on their web browser that may cause problems. Ensure that java is enabled on your computer's web browser. If you are running a version of a Microsoft Windows and see only a broken link icon, you will need to download a copy of the Java™ Virtual Machine in order to run our application. You may download Java™ Support for your browser from this link http://jave.sun.com/getjava/ Liam on 21:07 21st-Feb-03 GMT [www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.a] #fdf-19647 To be really sure you could upgrade to the most recent version of your web browser available today. Certain browsers (esp. Netscape 5 and below) running on Macintosh platforms are not capable of running the software due to problems outside of our control. I would recommend that Macintosh users use Netscape 7.0, or MSIE 5.x. As WebTV does not support Java, WebTV users will not be able to access our chat rooms. Hope this helps. Here is the link to download. Version 6 of Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp George on 21:07 21st-Feb-03 GMT #084-19648 Didn't know whether I was coming or going when I opened this page. Too much change for one week. AlexD, unfortunately Sunderland are bottom of the EPL, not WBA. Hopefully that will change after we play them again. George on 21:40 21st-Feb-03 GMT #084-19649 On the official site, thanks go to Derrick Sandy. Who is Derrick Sandy? Does Teenage Kicks get played when the nupdated site downloads? If so, I can't hear it. I can hear Billy explaining aout the new site, so know my soundcard is working. Liam on 22:02 21st-Feb-03 GMT [www.theundertones.com] #062-19650 No George it plays the intro to Top 20. Do you see the animated site banner at the top? cliff on 22:09 21st-Feb-03 GMT #2ca-19651 Top 20 is a good choice.I was listening to 'What do I get' earlier, a good song, it reminded me of an Undertones 'b' side. cliff on 22:12 21st-Feb-03 GMT #2ca-19652 Alex, as George kindly points out, we're 18th in a league of 20....you're 2nd in a league of 2.So there, ner ner ner ner ner. AlexD on 23:08 21st-Feb-03 GMT #397-19653 It was a prediction Clifford :) Also 90 mins away from the quarter finals of the UEFA cup, In the League Cup final, still in the Scottish cup, what have you got look forward to? 1st Division footie next season, bring on Grimsby!!
