wilke vinny and alex werent the only ones having a good night- i went to a 40th birthday party of a friend I havent seen in a while. Seems he has his own band, they did mainly covers of punk songs- including a great version of anarchy in the UK! I asked for Teenage Kicks- just as I went to the loo I heard Robert say'This is for Jackie-where is she??' Just like school disco when I would always hear Jimmy Jimmy start up when I was at the loo, I had to leg it back in! Very passable version it was too. Feeling rather fragile today though...

Vinny, The Basement release their ne single `The Only Mr Lonely` May 12th and are promoting it with n Irish tour starting March 20th. The is followed by a UK tour which also includes several support dates with The Coral in Uk. They are currently half way through a debiut album. Demos from this aalbum are very promising. I did tell you they were going to be big - get your video camera out in Derry - you may not get another chance!

Apologies Lindsay for the ageist comment. Having finally turned 40 last month age is on my mind. Went to see Hugh Cornwell on Friday night in Dunfermline. He is looking old. This started me worrying about my ageing taste in music. The last 3 bands I saw were Hugh Cornwell, Siouxsie, and before that, the the Undertones in the Astoria. Its not good is it.

p2 I know what you mean- I ended up in the 'Essential Selection with Pete Tong' chatroom the other night (don't ask how!!) Actually the people were quite nice, I got into a discussion with a bloke who liked REM- when I said I saw them in 1984 he was amazed and asked how old I was....then someone else said they weren't even conceived in 1984!

Yeah, and I told someone about my first Undertones gig ever, the mega outdoor free festival in Rotterdam with over 500,000 visitors back in 1980 with a splendid set from our favourite band, which made them the only band from that day to appear on the national TV news as a report from that festival, but what I was saying: this person told me he was at the festival too, but in a pram, his parents took him at the tender age of 6 months, which says a lot about the parents too!

Alex, well done in the old firm, despite the huge Dutch input at rangers, my sympathy is for celtic

Looking forward to seeing some of you next Sunday. Let me know where you are meeting up. Great news about Peel session and new LP. Cliff - after Spurs vs Liverpool was moved to next Sunday I had to choose too, the Undertones won. Hope to see you soon at the next one...

Cliff on 18:52 9th-Mar-03 GMT #cbd-19988
